We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Logging, particularly screen recording for Windows RDP sessions. Also, command-logging for SSH sessions. This really helps us to see what commands/changes have been executed in a particular service at a given point of time, and by whom.""Previously, we had to go through some effort to change the credentials of our devices. The process was subject to human error... For things like managing credentials, some kind of register had to be maintained. With the Password Vault of ARCON, all these processes are automated. The credentials are changed, as per the schedule. The information is encrypted, kept in our vault, and sent to all the email addresses within the ARCON solution itself.""100% compliant and you don't have to maintain ID management for each and every user.""The initial setup is very straightforward. It's not complex at all.""It is recording video records for Windows and command-line reports for others, Linux and AIX, of whatever activities being carries by that particular administrator.""One important feature is the administrator access, mainly for Windows machines as well as Linux machines. It is important for us because there is accountability associated with each user ID. And the recordings are also helpful.""With this log available, we can drill down to the activities performed by the people within our kiosk. There is a great feature where in the case of Unix servers, we have our own text-based logs. In the case of Window's server, we cannot create a text-based log, so our kiosk takes the screenshot or picture of the screen when I am working. It does this every three seconds.""After storing the administrator password in this password vault of the solution, the solution can automatically go and change the password based on the defined frequency with the defined complexity."

"Password Management and Session Recording. The simplicity and ease that it is to be up and running out-of-the-box is very much appreciated.""The key benefits are we improve our governance. We ensure we can build more trust in the way we run and operate our environment, and most of all is the accountability.""It's easy to use and easy to configure.""One of the key things for us about the product is around its simplicity. Being able to put in the technology that allows the business to remove complexity and also allow the security improvements.""Whoever built it from the ground up, they understand how an organization is laid out.""We have received good support from the tech support team.""The interface is very friendly, colorful, and bold.""The DB clustering is a really good benefit of using CA PAM."

Cons
"There are some features lacking but they typically are added when the upgrades are released.""Hazard flow could be improved, the data compliance portion.""One thing which needs improvement is where it is keeping video logs of Windows Servers, whatever activities are being carried out by the administrator. Because Windows logs are a video, they are unsearchable, so if you need to search for a specific administrator and what he has done on a server, right now you need to go through different video logs of that particular timeframe. I think they are coming up with an additional feature where in it can be indexed and can be searchable.""I'll provide feedback on additional features after the project is completed. I think it would be better to comment on that after the implementation is finished.""The deployment process is a bit complex because no document is available.""Anti-bridging should be built into product.""We would like to see support for privileged accounts used in web-based systems like Blue Coat Secure Web Gateway, VMware ESXI management tools, etc.""There are no APIs readily available... I'm working on automation for ARCON so that whatever the ARCON administrator is doing will be automated, rather than having to do it manually. For that, I had to spend months to get the API developed myself. Having that handy out of the box, that would really help..."

"The management console could be improved.""An improvement for this solution is that it should not be constantly based on user name and password. There should be a condition to edit and update your username.""They need to have zero tier and active-active setup with zero minimum downtime, which they are working on it. ""It's difficult to locate the reports, there are limits on what reports can be run from the GUI, and the report formats are lacking.""The response time for support could be faster. Some features should be added: cloud-based, VPN-less, more secure, and it should be adjusted in a hybrid environment.""Instead of just giving passwords to the user based on job function, from auditing perspective, turn that cycle around. That would really help from an auditing standpoint.""The setup is complex.""What I hope happens with the new product CA PAM is to keep all the useful features that exist in PA, but what I’ve noticed with many new products is the UI gets polished but systems lags stability and performance or it adds additional complexity instead of simplifying the user experience."
