Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"This solution can scale from SMB to the enterprise level. It is very impressive.""With other routing protocols, we have had to send team members to perform installations and configurations. There is a lot of work involved. However with SD-WAN, once it is installed it is fully automated, and we can do all other tasks remotely. We don't have to send staff out to the client's location. It's very independent, and we can establish SD-WAN connectivity easily. It is secure as well.""The most valuable feature is the application-level routing.""The integration of Layer 3 and application routing is great.""The solution has great scalability.""So far, the feature that I like best is the policy configuration manager.""The most valuable features of Cisco SD-WAN are reliability and scalability.""When considering the most valuable features of Cisco SD-WAN, the decoupling of self-monitoring stands out significantly."

"The solution is easy to use.""It is a simple solution that makes scanning easy. You just give it a scheduled task, and it will do everything for you.""The most valuable feature of the solution is the external channel.""There are fewer false positives when using this solution.""Detects new hosts along with vulnerabilities.""The process of defining and discovering scans is organized efficiently.""It gives a very good overview of the inventory assessment process, and it can be accessed across our company because it's a global tool.""The prioritization feature is great. I think it has all of the advanced features that we need."

Cons
"This solution should include a fully functional firewall at no extra charge.""I would like them to add some more SD-WAN ports. We have seen one implementation where there were four ISPs. Currently, we have a maximum of two ports for ISP in this device. Therefore, we cannot connect directly, and we need other switches. There should be some option to have more than two ports for SD-WAN.""The installation is not easy. If you have experience and it is not your first time doing the installation, it can be easier.""All of the configurations are based on templates, and we need to spend a lot of time doing the templates. It's good because that means that all of the configurations will be equal in the network. However, we need to spend a lot of time implementing the templates and doing the customizations.""The UI has room for improvement.""The price could be better. From a technical side, and everything's working smoothly. Cisco SD-WAN could be cheaper.""The cost is too high for certain countries, for example, those in Africa. The solution needs to be more cost-effective.""Better pricing and greater security would be nice to see."

More Cisco SD-WAN Cons →

"Qualys VM could improve by having more skilled support personnel.""They're still evolving their platform in terms of reporting capabilities.""When you want to cover yourself for scalability, you will be charged for the number you place on the scan itself.""The reporting in this solution can be improved.""The price could be better. Asset view is still a legacy feature. I'm not able to extract the information about the asset with complete details. It would be better if they fixed that in the next release. I know Qualys is already working on it, so I'm hopeful it will be available in the next five or six months. That would be something that's changed where I seek improvement.""Qualys VM should improve its methodology.""Reports were lacking somewhat on the customization side.""The solution is a bit expensive if you do not have access to discounts."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "We pay for the Cisco Customer Care support, which is a couple of hundred dollars."
  • "80 percent reduction in WAN costs. There are no MPLS or P2P circuits left in the organization."
  • "Cisco is more expensive than some competing products."
  • "SD-WAN as a service is probably something in the neighborhood of $100 to $200 a month per location."
  • "The costs are a bit on the high side."
  • "It is much cheaper than other solutions. Most of our clients are the top 500 companies, and they all have a corporate contract."
  • "The license model is too complex with too many flavors and options. You might not be able to see it from an end user's point of view, but from a telco point of view, their license model is too complex. They should have a flexible license model. If you want to have good pricing, you need to buy it for a two-year, four-year, or five-year license immediately. Some other vendors have much more flexible license models."
  • "It is going to be on a yearly basis. There are no additional costs."
