We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"All of the features are effective, but the highlight feature of the product was the data layer inspection. When we talk about a DLP product, data packet inspection is very important. Securing data at rest is easy, but securing data in transit is challenging. We used it comprehensively to secure end drives, data transfers, secure hard drives, and end-user machines. It proved monumental in our operations.""The versatility regarding the exit point Endpoint Protector supports in making sure that important data doesn't leave our organization is vital for us. In the industry that we're in, data breaches are a significant concern. While our staff is contractually required to maintain confidentiality and they're all very aware that they shouldn't try and transfer company data of different classifications elsewhere to non-company devices, there's a risk.""The device control is a big deal for us because we can actually lock out removable drives and different types of hardware. It allows us to have better control over what end-users plug into their computers, and we can have deny lists and tighten our security posture.""The role-based access features for the teams that administer it is good.""The most valuable feature is device control.""Compared to a lot of the USB management systems out there, Endpoint Protector is the only one that comes with true USB management and the DLP side of it. I'm pretty impressed because I've used several solutions with DLP and USB management, and I've never seen granularity like this solution has.""The interface is pretty user-friendly, neatly explained, and simple to use.""We like that content-aware and device controls can easily be managed. They're not complicated. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to understand them."

"Offers some good protection features.""The most valuable feature of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention is data loss prevention.""It can scale.""The interface showcases threat incidents very well.""The solution has good stability and endpoint.""The tool focuses on endpoints rather than networks. Endpoints cover everything. It wouldn't be possible to steal confidential information from endpoints.""The most valuable features of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are the DLP. The DLP, data loss prevention is the most important feature right now that users are looking for.""The overall features of McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention are very good."

Cons
"CoSoSys Endpoint Protector's network-level DLP and integration with mail servers need improvement.""In Linux a user can remove a getent anytime. There is no control there on the file structure in Linux. So if this solution could give us information on what users removed in the dashboard, it would help us.""It would be helpful to implement filtering mechanisms so that we can sort and view the data based on software and vendor, providing more clarity and ease in analysis.""Sometimes, it should try to focus on one thing rather than multiple things. Endpoint Protector does device control very well, which is why we use that particular function.""We are using it to only apply media restrictions. When we are installing a new agent, we have to install EPP manually on a device. It would be great if the installations can be done from the server instead of me going to each PC or device to implement EPP or using a policy. They should have some sort of system so that a domain admin can install EPP on all PCs from a central manager.""I would like to see an alert feature that when a system is started, it checks to make sure that the client has the most up-to-date policies.""If CoSoSys comes up with a suite of Host DLP, along with Network DLP and SaaS DLP, it will cover all of the aspects of a DLP solution.""This product provides zero-day protection for macOS, although I'm currently dealing with an issue on the most recent rollout of the Endpoint client that doesn't seem to be fully functioning."

More CoSoSys Endpoint Protector Cons →

"The product uses a lot of resources and because of this it is not always a good solution for every situation.""The interface can be improved, it's too cluttered.""The solution needs to be a one-stop protection shop. And yet, the DLP isn't strong. Anyone can break it quite easily.""We need to do a lot of configuration.""There needs to be support for blocking the sending of files by email because even if you block or remove an external disk, the files are not protected.""McAfee Total Protection for Data Loss Prevention could improve by having artificial intelligence.""The product fails to offer automatic classification capabilities to its users.""The UI needs to be simplified."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "This is a budget-friendly solution that covers all the aspects of host-level DLP."
  • "The price of Endpoint Protector by CoSoSys is more or less the same as other competing solutions."
  • "It has a fair price. They just changed recently from perpetual licensing. When I bought it, I bought it on perpetual license, then they changed the whole company policy to go to subscription. It was a bit of a shock to us because we haven't upgraded it that many times. However, after speaking to CoSoSys directly, they gave us a very good renewal price."
  • "I don't have any issue with the licensing and pricing. I would love for it to be cheaper, but at the same time I'm getting a lot from it."
  • "[The pricing] is reasonable compared to what's out there."
  • "Pricing is quite reasonable. For smaller organizations, it lets them get into the product domain, whereas a lot of vendors won't even talk to them. CoSoSys is just about at that sweet spot of being serious enough that you have to budget for it, but at the same time, affordable enough that the value is well worth it."
  • "The minimum number of licenses they sell is 50 or 150 users."
  • "For what it's doing, the cost is somewhat high for us, but it's the cost of doing business with the clients that we have."
