We performed a comparison between CyberArk Privileged Access Manager and WALLIX Bastion based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The fact that I can put my vault here in a central location on one net for example, and I'll have a CPM in California, a CPM in Texas, a CPM in New York, a CPM in Florida, and actually be able to grow with my company and not necessarily have to continue to grow my vault until I get to a certain number accounts - yet I can still manage everything across the country, if not the world - I love that. I love the flexibility and the capability of being able to pull those components out."
"We utilize PTA, and we are now integrating that into our risk management program so we can identify the uses of the vault which are outside of the norm, e.g., people accessing after hours. It has reduced the amount of time that we are looking through logs and audit logs."
"When we started with RPA, there was a requirement that every credential and the bots themselves be protected through the PAM system. From the get-go, we've had CyberArk in the middle... We've got a pretty robust RPA implementation with our PAM platform. Users, bots, the credentials — everything is managed via our PAM solution."
"We found the initial setup to be easy."
"We are able to rotate credentials and have privileged account access."
"CyberArk has allowed us to get the credentials and passwords out of hard-coded property files."
"It takes people out of the machine work of ensuring credentials remain up-to-date, and handles connection brokering such that human usage and credential management remain independent."
"Allows secure, logged access to highly sensitive servers and services."
"The support is great. They offer 24/7 support, but the specific level of support depends on your subscription. There's a weekday-only option, and a 24/7 option that covers all days of the week. They also have offices in different regions, including West Africa, so people there can easily get support. There's no need to worry about getting assistance."
"The solution's technical support team is helpful."
"We use WALLIX Bastion to provide access and to monitor sessions."
"I like that it's Linux-based, and you don't need to have separate implementations, extra database licenses, or enterprise licenses. I think because it's Linux-based, it's more seamless than Windows. I also like the access manager, which I think is a super tool. Everything is browser-based, and you don't need a VPN. So, that's a great thing."
"WALLIX Bastion's most valuable feature is the Access Manager because you can use it and access the data center without any client VPN."
"Its video recording capabilities have definitely been key for us."
"The interface is very simple. It doesn't need any plug-ins, just browsers that are installed at the beginning."
"Currently, in Secure Connect, an end user is required to enter account information manually, and cannot save any of this information for future use."
"We need a bit more education for our user community because they are not using it to its capabilities."
"PAM could be more user-friendly and CyberArk could update the documentation to include more real-world examples. You have to learn it yourself through trial and error. In particular, the online documentation should have more information about troubleshooting."
"CyberArk has a lot on the privileged access side but they have to concentrate more on the application side as well."
"More than the product itself, there is room for improvement in the documentation. The documentation should be very detailed and very structured. It has a lot of good information, on one level, but I feel that it could be more elaborate and more structured."
"Online help needs to be looked into with live agent support."
"I would like to see better automation in granting access, better tools, more efficient tools, to be able to customize the solution that CyberArk provides."
"The authentication port is available in CyberArk Alero but not Fortinet products."
"For me, the main issue has to do with the system performance itself."
"The performance of WALLIX Bastion's password manager is very low."
"Based on my experience as a sales tech person, one area of improvement could be a more unified licensing model."
"The product doesn't have behavior analytics. They promised to develop this, but only for the cloud, not for on-premise versions."
"There could be more automation features for the solution."
"WALLIX Bastion is GUI-driven, but it sometimes needs some management."
"It would be better if I could manage multiple accounts in one place, like CyberArk. With WALLIX, you can only manage one account, and you are given a separate category. You have to click on each connection to do anything. For example, CyberArk might give three options for one connection if you want to have an interactive user-level experience. But with WALLIX, you have to click three times to get that access. Also, the biggest disadvantage of WALLIX is the reporting. I feel like it's very weak in reporting when compared to the other solutions. As a solution, they're good and stable. But they need to make their reports neater and better. Right now, we're going to the console and then pressing buttons every single time."
"The password management needs improvement. Management of Access Manager should be improved as well."
