Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The tool for forecasting capacity is valuable.""Mobile application is the most valuable feature for us. We can monitor all the storages on our phones. It's really good.""The best thing about this solution is that you can check for the infrastructure and system updates that you might need to be compliant with the Cloud.""Fewer vulnerabilities have been observed in the four years we have used the solution.""Has really nice roll-up dashboards."

More Dell CloudIQ Pros →

"The most valuable feature is that, when you log in, you have customized dashboards. You can add widgets to those dashboards and you can change the density of certain data points in the dashboards. When I log in, I quickly see where the cluster lies, as far as memory and CPU resources go.""We were impressed with Nutanix, overall. Some of the other main drivers for our switch to it were the simplicity of setting up our Nutanix clusters, ease of management, and that their support is very respected. There is an overall ease of use, compared to VMware. I'm sold on their product.""Since we began using Nutanix the performance for virtual desktops is much better.""Nutanix Prism's dashboard is very simple, and you don't need much knowledge to use it.""The centralized management of Nutanix Prism is the best feature.""Prism provides us with insights and the ability to access all the sub-components of Nutanix's hyperconverged platform.""Nutanix Prism is very fast compared to VMware and whatever you need to do, you can do it quickly.""The most valuable feature is the solution's single-pane-of-glass approach to consolidating all of the various metrics and interfaces that I would typically have to access via multiple screens in other products. The ease of use would probably be the single biggest selling point."

Cons
"In terms of improvement, they should enhance the product range.""Doesn't do well in terms of integrating with technologies other than Dell.""The reporting capabilities of this solution could be improved.""PowerScale is the only file system offered and that is limiting.""Supporting legacy systems is an area that can be improved."

More Dell CloudIQ Cons →

"I would like to see the capability to use FC SAN storage.""The initial setup is extremely complex. I am Nutanix Certified, so I had the ability, but there were still things that we weren't trained in. They mandate—not recommend, but mandate—having an approved installer do it, and it was a very painful process. The installer that we took from CDW was not good, in the extreme. I had to go back to Nutanix directly and get all the problems fixed.""Performance metrics and analytics could be improved.""The process of converting and importing virtual machines to the Nutanix environment is quite complicated.""Perhaps the interface can be more intuitive.""I would like to have some cluster management tools included.""There are a few areas related to visibility on the dashboard that can be improved. It's good, but the visibility can be improved in terms of single locations.""Nutanix Prism could improve by having more features or configurations in the web interface. We should not have to use the command-line interface(CLI). For some clients using the CLI can be difficult."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "The solution is more expensive than NetApp which offers file systems in various price ranges."
  • More Dell CloudIQ Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "A lot of my customers complain about the price of renewals, so I think that this can be improved."
  • "Compared to VMware, the price of this solution is great."
  • "Nutanix Prism is priced better than some of the competing solutions."
  • "This product is cheaper than using VMware."
  • "The license we bought for Nutanix Prism is perpetual, so once you have it, you can keep on using it. It's a three-year license that's paid one time. The license we have covers the three-node cluster."
  • "The license for Prism is costlier than other VMs."
  • "We have spent a lot of money on the Nutanix solution with Prism. Yet, for this amount of money we could be buying high-end storage with a lot of IOPS and bandwidth, even more than with Nutanix."
  • "Nutanix have bundles for pricing. On a single bundle, we get everything including vSAN or VMware and there are no additional costs. It is just a single license that is needed."
