We performed a comparison between Denodo and Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Cloud Data Integration solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The data abstraction is the most valuable feature."
"While we may not be using all the features of Denodo at this time, we have found the data virtualization features to be very useful in helping us connect our data sources together, bringing all our data into one platform."
"The most valuable features are data lineage and the concept of a semantic layer."
"Denodo is lightweight in terms of how it leads you to combine your discrete data systems at one spot."
"In general, it's good for us to make tests so we can scout the data."
"The best thing about Denodo is that creating and deploying a web service can be done in about 10 minutes, compared to a whole day when it comes to other solutions (such as when deploying with Java and AWS)."
"It can support a number of data sources, and it can pull flat files, from cloud-based databases or from those on-premises. Denodo can pull from any data source and interface with the view. Then, we can publish the view."
"The ability to transfer data is very valuable."
"The solution scales well."
"It can automatically connect or associate business terms with various options, providing flexibility beyond general capabilities."
"I like EDC's self-service capabilities. You can put the catalog on the intranet inside the organization, so users can search for something. People in the research world have specialized systems, and you might find data from various places that sound similar."
"The metadata management of Informatica is great."
"The capability of the tool to scan and capture the metadata from a variety of sources is one of the capabilities that I find most useful. The central repository into which it is going to put that captured metadata is the best."
"The most valuable feature is its ability to extract metadata from various sources- be it an old SaaS application or the latest cloud application."
"Offers data lineage feature"
"We can scan anything."
"I would like to see a connectivity option with third-party apps, for example, JDBC, and ODBC drivers. Currently, we need to install it separately from the Denodo side and then connect it."
"Performance management could be improved."
"Denodo's training documentation could be improved by providing more material. From an administrative standpoint, I've found that only Denodo websites provide the usual tutorials. It may be because it's a bit of a restricted tool, but it results in trouble with learning. Normally, I can find help and solutions from other sources, but I haven't been able to find any for Denodo. Other that, it's fine and it performs well. I only have six months of experience, so I can't accurately suggest improvements."
"Denodo currently integrates with ChatGPT, but the ability to manage and utilize them directly within Denodo would be a significant improvement."
"Documentation needs to be improved"
"It would be good if the solution provided a much-needed cellular platform."
"Tasks such as conversion of a date format or conversion of a number format that can be done in a very easy way in different languages, like SQL or Oracle, are not so easy to do in Denodo. For example, if you want to convert a date from one format to another, in Oracle it's pretty easy; in Denodo, however, it requires so many lines of code. Simple things that can be done very quickly in other database languages require more lines of code in Denodo."
"Lacks integrations with AWS, GCP and the like."
"Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog could improve by having a much better user interface. It is not user-friendly."
"The solution is quite expensive."
"The UI is extremely complex"
"This solution is hard to set up and its interface is not user-friendly. It's also not as stable, and the technical support takes a lot of time to solve simple problems."
"They have to improve their relationship discovery tool. They say that they have AI inside, but this AI did not automatically find relationships or suggested relationships between entities."
"The model is somewhat flexible. There are certain aspects of the model that are not as flexible as we would like. It doesn't do certain things to a great level of depth. So, in situations where we want to drill in to do something specific, we have to essentially copy that data into our own structures in order to add that additional layer of flexibility."
"IEDC can improve the comparison of lineages."
"The scalability is tough."
