We performed a comparison between ExtremeCloud IQ and Ubiquiti Wireless based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Cisco, Fortinet, HPE Aruba Networking and others in Network Management Applications."What our customers like the most is that this device is so rugged. It has very good performance and throughput. Its console is very easy to use and has many features, which makes it different from its competitors. Cloud IQ has all the features built into the console, whereas other solutions require you to integrate multiple solutions with their consoles. You don't need to add anything extra with Cloud IQ. With this single solution, you can do almost everything."
"The support organization behind this product is extremely professional."
"a true controller-less approach, where each Access Point is 100% independent from the management system."
"ExtremeCloud offers features that not a lot of other vendors do like their data storage and the ability to swap licenses."
"This solution's most valuable feature is its short deployment time."
"What's most valuable for me in ExtremeCloud IQ is easy management. It also has centralized administration, so you don't have to go to the customer site to program it. It can be programmed remotely."
"It allows me to see APs and clients that are having issues, allowing for faster support response and less downtime."
"ExtremeCloud IQ is an intuitive platform. The tool's ability to streamline network operations depends on the end customer. Sometimes it's quicker, and sometimes it takes much longer. It helps me to address network problems."
"It functions properly and includes centralized management for access points and switches."
"I like that it's cheaper and inexpensive. It's also easy to use."
"Ubiquiti Wireless is a reasonably priced, easy to use, stable and reliable product."
"Ubiquiti outdoor access points in particular, are really stable, and if there are no obstructions, Ubiquiti works well."
"Ubiquiti is intuitive. The management interface is user-friendly. You can easily make changes and do the things that need to be done."
"The failure rate is very low on these devices - I've had them installed for five years and have only lost one out of a hundred."
"The 3x3 MIMO antenna provides excellent coverage and the product is well supported by Ubiquiti in terms of firmware updates."
"Ubiquiti Wireless is extremely easy to set up."
"A room for improvement in ExtremeCloud IQ is roaming. My team is facing roaming issues with the solution, particularly when using VoIP over WiFi. For example, VoIP sometimes breaks when you walk around the customer site. In terms of what I'd like to see in the next release of the solution, right now, the inventory for ExtremeCloud IQ is awful. There's no stock, and you must wait a year and a half for new stocks. It's awful."
"The solution's performance needs to be enhanced because of a very high delay."
"We'd like to have a cloud dashboard from which we can see all devices."
"I know a school district, a big school district of mine, ripped out Extreme due to inefficiencies. It was the guest network that can be a struggle. They tried to differentiate between their primary network, and then offer a secondary."
"ExtremeCloud IQ’s user interface needs to be improved, and its current bugs need to be fixed."
"There can be an improvement by incorporating two-factor authentication or multi-factor authentication for security. Advanced network access control features and application control features should be added to manage applications. Many customers are interested in managing data, such as setting data quotas for individual users."
"The Virtual Appliance crashed once while doing an upgrade. The good thing here is, even if the management system fails, all our networks and features still remain 100% stable and working."
"Their firewall configuration gets funky and it can be difficult to understand."
"They should have more VLAN features and a designing tool like a link planer."
"The external devices, the outdoor devices, are not so rugged. For example, for the weather that we have here in Florida, it doesn't hold up well even though it is supposed to be designed for outdoor use."
"It's hard to get stuff delivered on time."
"We tried to create an access point with built-in voice and sound that we could use in schools, for example. We tried to create something that could play sounds or messages out of the access points. We wanted to, for example, use it as a school bell instead of using other equipment. It didn't work very well. It turns out when you connect to the Ubiquiti Wireless access point, it's not possible to send simple messages (like what is going on in the canteen, or some news update for the school, etc.). We had to use the on-premises version, as the cloud version wouldn't allow for this."
"I would prefer if the solution offered more integration capabilities."
"Better third-party integration would be helpful because often, Ubiquity is a product that customers choose after they already have something else from another vendor like HPE."
"We use different models of the solution but in some cases, the security could improve in the adaptive portal, be a little more robust, and easier to use."
"I would like to see this solution have any kind of captive portal on the tool or user accounting tool. This would be quite useful for companies."
