Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature is the anomaly-reporting alarms.""The most valuable feature is the dashboard. CMDB database collects data from a lot of pre-configured devices.""We have many application systems, and I can set up Fortinet FortiSIEM for users to monitor their systems.""Fortinet FortiSIEM has its own validated and authentic IP database that marks malicious IP attacks against the firewall and generates an alert for the same.""I like the various options, including the option for CMDB and the easier access to create rules, playbooks, or use cases. It's also easier to use for creating dashboards and reports.""It's very easy for anyone to work with.""We have found the most important features in Fortinet FortiSIEM to be the correlation, file utility check, latest file, and hash changes. These features are important for us.""It's a very nice solution to work with."

"This product has good network monitoring and troubleshooting capabilities.""Enables maps to be drawn out.""Chain management is a good feature. I don't get it on other solutions.""NetBrain is a very simple tool.""A reliable, time-saving tool for providing accurate layer 2 and layer 3 network mappings."

Cons
"FortiSIEM needs to expand its integration with third-party vendors. I don't know if Forcepoint has been added, but there were limited resources for integrating Forcepoint solutions when we implemented FortiSIEM. It integrates well with other Fortinet products and solutions from established cybersecurity companies like Palo Alto but doesn't integrate with some of the newer vendors.""The dashboards need to be improved. It gives you so much detail, but sometimes too much detail, especially to an executive, it's too much.""Not very good on non-API features, lacks that functionality.""Network detection and response is a separate product.""The interface needs some improvements because it's a bit cumbersome when you're trying to view items. It takes some time to get used to. Additionally, sometimes the scrolling does not work.""We need to see incident reports about the event log, without events from the administrator or through human interaction.""They could work on their documentation. If there's anything about the solution that needs improvement, it's that. For example, documentation already is on a very high level but specifically on the CLI there are tons of features which can be fine-tuned and thousands of commands are very difficult to document. If they could make this easier, it would improve the overall solution.""There is no proper guide for integration or configuration."

"The solution could integrate more automation.""Each device needs to be configured to allow NetBrain to poll for the information it needs, which can be very time-consuming for a large network.""Support needs to improve for the installed product and some of the reporting could be more flexible to provide more complete cataloging.""The IP interface brief isn't consistent.""It would be nice if the setup was a little simpler. Also, if the solution could provide more training materials for new people coming into our company so they can quickly learn how to use the functionalities."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Please be cheaper and more simplified."
  • "We bought the perpetual license, so we own the product, but there is a three-year support renewal fee for that."
  • "Pricing is acceptable for more than 90% of our customers, as they normally get discounts."
  • "Its price can be better. We are Fortinet partners, so we can get discounts, but its price can be an issue at the beginning for others. There is a licensing scheme for every case. There are three licensing schemes that we can choose from."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiSIEM is a lot less when compared to other solutions."
  • "They have a yearly subscription."
  • "The solution is available for both, perpetual and subscription licenses."
  • "Manageable, however would be better as pay as you go versus CapEX."

  • "The product is expensive, but less expensive than some of the competition and worth the price."
