We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It has good, reliable, fast storage.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""The duplication algorithm allows us to get a lot more use out of less storage. We're running a five terabyte array right now and we're running probably about 30 terabytes on it. So the duplication rate is pretty phenomenal, without a cost to performance. It still runs pretty smoothly.""The most valuable feature of this solution is reliability.""The high availability of the product is the most valuable feature.""What I really like about this program, is that it is easy to use and easy to configurate.""The initial setup was extremely simple and straightforward.""The system allows for seamless learning experiences, facilitating quick and easy cloning of environments within minutes."

"Huawei OceanStor has the capability of SSDs, high-performance disks, and higher disk support.""It is easy to use, deploy, communicate and manage this solution.""Stability: The product is designed to have always HA (High Availability) with redundant network and processors.""The solution is scalable.""Huawei OceanStor is designed with built-in high availability features, such as fault tolerance, ensuring consistent data access and minimizing downtime.""The most valuable feature is the flexibility in the rail, as it is hybrid storage.""The support is excellent.""The most valuable feature is the availability."

"The solution's initial setup process is easy.""Lenovo ThinkSystem DE Series is simple to use""The solution is very easy to set up.""Lenovo ThinkSystem DE Series is quite an elementary box, no frills. It does not have all the functionality of the DM but it is acceptable, it does its task. It integrates pretty well.""Its initial setup process is easy.""We have been working with the solution for around a year and so far it has shown itself to be stable.""ThinkSystem's storage performs well, and the price per gigabyte is good, especially on SSD solutions. It's also easy to use.""The solution is very easy to troubleshoot. It's one of the most valuable features. It also doesn't take long to deploy and normally it comes with a three-year warranty."

Cons
"Right now, the box itself is just strictly working as a backend storage system. It would be fantastic if we could access it directly like a NAS device through network access or SIS drives. I think they have an interface, but I am not sure how good it is. If we could address a box directly on the network without having to go through a server, it would be great. The replication schemas could be improved. We are not using replication on the storage level right now. We use a different type of replication. If their replication would be as good as the one that we have, I would probably run the replication schema because it might be faster, but I don't know that for a fact. So, I cannot say that they have good replication. All I can say is that they need to inform us better.""Every time I think of something that needs to improve, they're one step ahead, which I love. The only area I wish to see improve, I believe is coming, is in the FlashBlade product. Blade implementation fell short on a few of the services.""We've seen that when we create a POD in synchronous mode, it increases the latency.""In the future, I would like to see integration with enterprise backup systems.""If the customer only needs 500 terabytes and doesn't care how much data they'll put in the server, IBM is cheaper than Pure.""I would like to see replication and DR features in the next release of this solution.""I want to see Pure Storage not only be for fast storage, but I want to see it be for the entire data center.""We would like to see more visibility into garbage collection and CPU performance in the GUI."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"I would like to see more iterations and direct integration with other solutions.""The solution needs to improve the compression side of the application.""The product must improve the local technical support in China.""The solution’s reporting could be improved.""The main concern is regarding the usability of the data storage.""CFS integration is one area where OceanStor has some room for improvement. The CFS on OceanStor is dedicated, so it's not integrated with the existing active directory domain.""The administration should be simplified because there are a large number of options that make it too complicated, and the customers can get confused.""The speed has room for improvement."

More Huawei OceanStor Cons →

"The solution could be more scalable, although it suits our present needs.""Improvements can be made to the product's performance.""Usually, when a part fails, we have to replace it and it takes a while. It would be better if the part could be available locally here in Kenya so we don't have to wait so long to repair the solution.""Its performance could be faster.""The features are limited.""In the next release, I would like to see support for Hyper-converged infrastructure.""In the next release, I would like to see more functionality. But, again, it is an entry-level product.""It would be useful to have structured solutions replicated to other sites."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."
