We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I have found the most valuable feature to be its availability.""It's the best solution in terms of security, performance, and availability because the system is available 24/7.""The most valuable aspect of this solution is its stability. We have never had any problems and have never had to contact technical support.""We had a crash of the backup system and the IBM DB2 was always up and consistent. It's robust, and for us, it was always up and running.""Some of the most valuable features are the scaling from a small very cheap installation to a very large enterprise installation. In addition, the backups and assistance are good.""It has a good feature called pureScale, which is just for scalability. It is a perfect solution for environments where scalability is going to be an issue.""The most valuable features of this solution are security and stability.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the integration with other IBM products."

"MemSQL supports the MySQL protocol, and many functions are similar, so the learning curve is very short.""The product can automatically reinstall and reconfigure in case of a shutdown.""The ability to store data in memory is a standout feature, enhanced by robust failover mechanisms.""The product's initial setup phase was pretty straightforward, with no complex processes.""It's a distributed relational database, so it does not have a single server, it has multiple servers. Its architecture itself is fast because it has multiple nodes to distribute the workload and process large amounts of data.""The paramount advantage is the exceptional speed.""The most valuable feature is the ability to create pipelines, streamline and extract data from the pipelines."

Cons
"The solution could be more modern and have updated database technology.""Do not use support. Freely available documentation is a bit weak.""IBM Db2 Database could improve with better security.""The technical support team is not very good when compared to the efficiency of Oracle's support.""Microsoft SQL Server is comparatively very simple to use. I wish IBM would move towards making Db2 easy to use for both basic and advanced users. This is where I see room for advancement. Db2 is also more expensive than Microsoft SQL Server, and its price can be reduced. The replication feature needs to be there in Db2. Microsoft provides similar functionality in SQL Server. IBM also has similar functionality, but it exists in a different product. So, to have the replication ability, you have to buy a different product. It makes sense to have this functionality within Db2 instead of a different product. It will also be helpful in terms of competition. In Africa, the problem for Db2 is competition. Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server have been in this market for a very long time. These companies have built the ecosystem and the brand within this market for a very long time. So, they are very popular with users. Db2 or IBM came a little later in the game, and that's where the problem lies. They also don't do a lot of marketing for it, which is also a problem.""I would like to see some artificial intelligence brought into the solution.""GUI needs improvement.""IBM Db2 Database is not ACID compliant, which would improve it. Db2 lacks Isolation, so when two people are trying to update the same field at the same time it can become stuck. Other newer databases do not have this issue, such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle DB, PostgreSQL, and SAP HANA."

More IBM Db2 Database Cons →

"For new customers, it's very tough to start. Their documentation isn't organized, and there's no online training available. SingleStore is working on it, but that's a major drawback.""It is not the optimal choice for direct data collection through queries, and it's more suited for aggregation tasks.""There should be more pipelines available because I think that if MemSQL can connect to other services, that would be great.""Poor key distribution can significantly impact performance, requiring a backward approach in design rather than adding tables incrementally.""We don't get good discounts in Pakistan.""The product can be developed further to provide more appropriate output to users as it is one of the areas where there are shortcomings.""Having the ability to migrate servers using a single command would be extremely beneficial."
