We performed a comparison between JFrog Xray and Mend.io based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Software Composition Analysis (SCA) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable feature of JFrog Xray is the display of the entire internal dependencies hierarchy."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"JFrog Xray's reporting feature has a lot of options in it, including scanning."
"JFrog Xray shows us a list of vulnerabilities that can impact our code."
"If multiple dependencies and vulnerabilities are found in a project, JFrog Xray is intelligent enough to tell you which vulnerability to target first."
"I would say that this solution has helped our organization by allowing us to automate a lot of the processes."
"Good reporting functionalities."
"The best feature is that the Mend R&D team does their due diligence for all the vulnerabilities. In case they observe any important or critical vulnerabilities, such as the Log4j-related vulnerability, we usually get a dedicated email from our R&D team saying that this particular vulnerability has been exploited in the world, and we should definitely check our project for this and take corrective actions."
"With the fix suggestions feature, not only do you get the specific trace back to where the vulnerability is within your code, but you also get fix suggestions."
"There are multiple different integrations there. We use Mend for CI/CD that goes through Azure as well. It works seamlessly. We never have any issues with it."
"The vulnerability analysis is the best aspect of the solution."
"The results and the dashboard they provide are good."
"What is very nice is that the product is very easy to set up. When you want to implement Mend.io, it just takes a few minutes to create your organization, create your products, and scan them. It's really convenient to have Mend scanning your products in less than one hour."
"For us, the most valuable tool was open-source licensing analysis."
"We can take some measures to improve things, replace a library, or update a library which was too old or showed severe bugs."
"JFrog Xray's documentation and error logging could be improved."
"The speed of JFrog Xray should improve. Other solutions have better performance."
"Since we have been using the solution via APIs, there are some limitations in the APIs."
"I think that the user interface should be expanded to provide customers with a better dashboard for reviewing their feedback regarding their images and the vulnerabilities that are associated with the images."
"Lacks deeper reporting, the ability to compare things."
"Reporting is crucial, but it is lacking in the current tool. Every organization seeks specific data points rather than general information. Therefore, we require customized reports from the Xray tool."
"JFrog Xray does not have a dashboard."
"I rated the solution an eight out of ten because WhiteSource hasn't built in a couple of features that we would have loved to use and they say they're on their roadmap. I'm hoping that they'll be able to build and deliver in 2022."
"The dashboard UI and UX are problematic."
"The only thing that I don't find support for on Mend Prioritize is C++."
"It should support multiple SBOM formats to be able to integrate with old industry standards."
"Make the product available in a very stable way for other web browsers."
"We have ended our relationship with WhiteSource. We were using an agent that we built in the pipeline so that you can scan the projects during build time. But unfortunately, that agent didn't work at all. We have more than 500 projects, and it doubled or tripled the build time. For other projects, we had the failure of the builds without any known reason. It was not usable at all. We spent maybe one year working on the issues to try to make it work, but it didn't in the end. We should be able to integrate it with ID and Shift Left so that the developers are able to see the scan results without waiting for the build to fail."
"Mend lets you create custom policies. They're not too complicated to set up, but it would be helpful if they had some preconfigured policies to match what we have in Azure DevOps. That would save us a lot of time. It's tedious to configure the policies manually, and I lack the capacity to do it right now. Other products have preconfigured packs and templates, and Mend doesn't."
"On the reporting side, they could make some improvements. They are making the reports better and better, but sometimes it takes a lot of time to generate a report for our entire organization."
