Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable feature of RapidMiner is that it can read a large number of file formats including CSV, Excel, and in particular, SPSS.""Using the GUI, I can have models and algorithms drag and drop nodes.""What I like about RapidMiner is its all-in-one nature, which allows me to prepare, extract, transform, and load data within the same tool.""The solution is stable.""RapidMiner for Windows is an excellent graphical tool for data science.""RapidMiner is a no-code machine learning tool. I can install it on my local machine and work with smaller datasets. It can also connect to databases, allowing me to build models directly on the data stored there. RapidMiner offers a wider range of operators than other tools like Dataiku, making it a better option for my needs.""I've been using a lot of components from the Strategic Extension and Python Extension.""The most valuable feature of RapidMiner is that it is code free. It is similar to playing with Lego pieces and executing after you are finished to see the results. Additionally, it is easy to use and has interesting utilities when preparing the data. It has a utility to automatically launch a series of models and show the comparisons. When finished with the comparisons you can select the best one, and deploy it automatically."

"Simplifies report designs and quickly displays tables and graphs.""I like SAS Visual Analytics for its ability to provide an initial understanding of data through exploration, even before deep analytics.""We've found the product to be stable and reliable.""The speed to display charts and react to users' choices is great.""It integrates well with SAS, making it simple and quick for developers.""I believe that the possibilities for exploring data and formulating visual results are quite good because it allows the business analyst to have different perspectives on the data.""The product is stable, reliable, and scalable.""Great for handling complex data models."

Cons
"RapidMiner isn't cheap. It's a complete solution, but it's costly.""Many things in the interface look nice, but they aren't of much use to the operator. It already has lots of variables in there.""If they could include video tutorials, people would find that quite helpful.""I would appreciate improvements in automation and customization options to further streamline processes.""In terms of the UI and SaaS, the user interface with KNIME is more appealing than RapidMiner.""The server product has been getting updated and continues to be better each release. When I started using RapidMiner, it was solid but not easy to set up and upgrade.""The biggest problem, not from a platform process, but from an avoidance process, is when you work in a heavily regulated environment, like banking and finance. Whenever you make a decision or there is an output, you need to bill it as an avoidance to the investigator or to the bank audit team. If you made decisions within this machine learning model, you need to explain why you did so. It would better if you could explain your decision in terms of delivery. However, this is an issue with all ML platforms. Many companies are working heavily in this area to help figure out how to make it more explainable to the business team or the regulator.""The visual interface could use something like the-drag-and-drop features which other products already support. Some additional features can make RapidMiner a better tool and maybe more competitive."

More RapidMiner Cons →

"It is not as mature as competitors such as Tableau and QlikView.""There are a few little things that are predefined and can be done out of the box immediately. There is no business intelligence application that is predefined, which is something some customers or prospects would love to have. Small and mid-sized companies would struggle with it because they prefer something standard that has been predefined by somebody else.""The deployment isn't smooth. Deploying Visual Analytics on the cloud takes a lot of work, or you can use some providers that give you SAS as a service. For example, there is a provider called SaasNow. They host SAS Visual Analytics and the license. You can buy the license and deploy it there without the hassle of installation because deploying the software isn't easy.""The product is expensive and needs the integration of more languages.""The installation process can be a bit complex.""The charts and tables could use better sorting, primarily using other variables than the ones on the figure. If they could implement views like in the older version (previous to Viya), it would be very nice.""SAS Visual Analytics could improve by making it more accessible for users outside the organization.""The licensing ends up being more expensive than other options."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the SAS Visual Analytics solution.

A Senior Manager at a consultancy says, “The solution is very stable. The scalability is good. The usability is quite good. It's quite easy to learn and to progress with SAS from an end-user perspective.

PeerSpot user Robert H., Co-owner at Hecht und Heck GmbH, comments, “What I really love about the software is that I have never struggled in implementing it for complex business requirements. It is good for highly sophisticated and specialized statistics in the areas that some people tend to call artificial intelligence. It is used for everything that involves visual presentation and analysis of highly sophisticated statistics for forecasting and other purposes.

Andrea D., Chief Technical Officer at Value Partners, explains, “The best feature is that SAS is not a single BI tool. Rather, it is part of an ecosystem of tools, such as tools that help a user to develop artificial intelligence, algorithms, and so on. SAS is an ecosystem. It's an ecosystem of products. We've found the product to be stable and reliable. The scalability is good.”
