We performed a comparison between SAP IT Operations Analytics and Splunk Enterprise Security based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Splunk, New Relic, Devo and others in IT Operations Analytics."Operations Analytics provides statistics, so it's like the dashboard in your car that tells you the temperature, RPMs, etc, and if something goes wrong in your car, a warning light comes on. So in analytics, you set thresholds for the thread count, and it sends you an email when it reaches a certain amount."
"We can integrate different environments, including development, quality, and production. You can open implementation projects, define users' roles, manage training, design, and store all project-related documentation. Before going live, there's a checklist and cutover plan. Configuration moves from development to quality, then production, to ensure everything runs smoothly. Once in production, the platform tracks system performance, open cases, maintenance, upgrades, and new features. You can monitor everything through dashboards, reports, event notifications, and support tickets, both internally and with SAP."
"The ability to manage large amounts of generated data and to protect all devices from unauthorized use are the most valuable features."
"The most valuable feature of Splunk Enterprise Security is website activity monitoring."
"UBA, User Behavior Analytics, is a key feature."
"You can use it to gather syslog messages from anything."
"Splunk Enterprise Security offers valuable features like seamless integration and a SQL-standard Structured Query Language for easy searching."
"The correlation searches are most valuable just because we are able to do things like RBA."
"The correlation search functions that generate all the notables are valuable. That can get pretty complicated, and it handles that pretty well."
"The solution is very fast and succinct."
"The solution works well, but we need better project planning. Accessing some features is a bit complicated, and we're waiting for improvements from SAP. It should also improve integration."
"It would be great to have a monitoring tool that could implement conditional solutions like this. Right now, it comes up with the indicators, but it doesn't necessarily send the lower-level technician to the right spot."
"Not even Splunk's support guy, who came to our firm, could help with defining proper role management."
"A problem that we had recently had was we licensed it based on how much data you upload to them every day. Something changed in one our applications, and it started generating three to four times as many logs and. So now, we are trying to assemble something with parts of the Splunk API to warn ourselves, then turn it off and throttle it back more. However it would be better if they had something systematically built into the product that if you're getting close to your license, then to shut things down."
"The UI can be difficult to understand for non-technical people."
"It's costly."
"Its pricing model and integration with third-party services can be improved. We had faced an issue with integration. The alerting feature is currently not available with Splunk, but it is definitely available with Datadog and PagerDuty. They should include this feature. A few dashboards in Splunk look quite old and are not that modern. They aren't bad, but improving these dashboards will definitely make Splunk more attractive and usable. I read in a few blog posts that there were a few security incidents related to Splunk agents. So, it can be made more secure."
"The user access control could be much more granular, so that the admins can control r/w/x access for specific features of the product like dashboards, etc."
"The support and the pricing can be better"
"Its setup is a little bit complex for a distributed environment. Their support can also be better. If we miss the response for more than a week, they usually close the case. Sometimes, it can take us more than a week to reply."
