We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of the most valuable features is that it creates a kind of a single pane of glass for organizations that already use Microsoft software. So, when they have things like Microsoft 365, it is very easy for them to kind of plug in or enroll those endpoints into the Azure Sentinel service.""The data connectors that Microsoft Sentinel provides are easy to integrate when we work with a Microsoft agent.""The most valuable feature is the onboarding of the workloads. You can see all that has been onboarded in your account on the dashboards.""The analytics has a lot of advantages because there are 300 default use cases for rules and we can modify them per our environment. We can create other rules as well. Analytics is a useful feature.""We didn't have anything similar. So, it really provides value from the incidents and automation point of view. The overview of the security fabric is most valuable.""The automation feature is valuable.""In Azure Sentinel, we have found, they do have a store in their capability. AI and intelligence features. We found that to be very helpful for us because some other things we do need to integrate again or find another vendor for the store""Investigations are something really remarkable. We can drill down right to the raw logs by running different queries and getting those on the console itself."

"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is easy to manage...It is a scalable solution.""The most valuable features of the solution are the scanning of all the cloud environments and most of the compliances available in the cloud.""Very good at detection and providing real-time alerts.""Finding out if your infrastructure is secure is a valuable feature.""The best feature of AWS Security Hub is that you can get compliance or your cloud's current security posture.""I find all of the features to be highly valuable.""I like that AWS Security Hub currently has several good features, around four or five. The technical support for AWS Security Hub is also responsive.""The solution shows us our compliance score."

"It helps a lot because we can troubleshoot issues pretty easily.""We use it to ingest Windows domain controller logs. We use this to monitor if anyone is placed in particular administration groups that potentially shouldn't be. It helps us keep track of people.""Sumo Logic Security is a good solution for searching the logs and identifying the issues.""I have no concerns about the stability of the product. I feel it handles the stress we put on it very well.""We can integrate threat intelligence solutions into the product.""For many of our services, we use Sumo Logic to track errors and send notifications to our Slack channel, if there are issues. Then, we have our support people monitoring this, and they can react quickly.""With this tool, we provide access to every developer team the ability to find errors, then they come to us and ask for specific help.""We can ingest logs and make reports out of them. It is a good tool which can help us monitor any issues."

Cons
"There is a wider thing called Jupyter Notebooks, which is around the automation side of things. It would be good if there are playbooks that you can utilize without having to have the developer experience to do it in-house. Microsoft could provide more playbooks or more Jupyter Notebooks around MITRE ATT&CK Framework.""If I can use Sentinel offline at home and use it on a local network, it would be great. I'm not sure if I can use Sentinel offline versus the tools I have.""They only classify alerts into three categories: high, medium, and low. So, from the user's point of view, having another critical category would be awesome.""They're giving us the queries so we can plug them right into Sentinel. They need to have a streamlined process for updating them in the tool and knowing when things are updated and knowing when there are new detections available from Microsoft.""Azure Sentinel will be directly competing with tools such as Splunk or Qradar. These are very established kinds of a product that have been around for the last seven, eight years or more.""When it comes to ingesting Azure native log sources, some of the log sources are specific to the subscription, and it is not always very clear.""Currently, the watchlist feature is being utilized, and although there have been improvements, it is still not fully optimized.""We're satisfied with the comprehensiveness of the security protection. That said, we do have issues sometimes where there have been global outages and we need to raise a ticket with Microsoft."

More Microsoft Sentinel Cons →

"AWS Security Hub should improve the time it takes to update. It takes a long period of time when updating. It can take 24 hours sometimes to update. Additionally, when integrating this solution with more security tools, takes time.""Adding SIEM features would be beneficial because of the limited customization of AWS Security Hub.""The solution lacks self-sufficiency.""Although AWS Security Hub does a periodic scan of your overall infrastructure, it doesn't do it in real time.""Security needs to be measured based on their own criteria. We can't add custom criteria specific to our organization. For example, having an S3 bucket publicly available might be flagged as a critical alert, but it might not be critical in a sandbox environment. So, it gets flagged as critical, which becomes a false positive. So, customization options and creating custom dashboards would be areas for improvement.""The telemetry doesn't always go into the control center. When you have multiple instances running in AWS, you need a control tower to take feeds from Security Hub and analyze your results. Sometimes exemptions aren't passed between the control tower and Security Hub. The configuration gets mixed up or you don't get the desired results.""The support must be quicker.""AWS Security Hub's configuration and integration are areas where it lacks and needs to improve."

More AWS Security Hub Cons →

"The initial setup is the most stressful, like learning how to use it.""In my opinion, this solution has a steep learning curve and requires practice if users to be able to use this tool very efficiently.""The integration with multiple sources could be better.""Sumo Logic Security is expensive, and its pricing could be improved.""The dashboard has room for improvement, because sometimes it is a difficult to create a specific dashboard or query. This would be a nice place to correct problems.""We would like to have some type of predefined setup for the logs, making the setup easier by default.""From the network segmentation side, there is some discrepancy in log onboarding. The tool needs to improve direct API integrations, login integration, native login integration, etc.""There needs to be improvement on imported data which can be used within Sumo Logic to do more advanced queries."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It comes with a Microsoft subscription which the customer has, so they don't have to invest somewhere else."
  • "It is a consumption-based license model. bands at 100, 200, 400 GB per day etc. Azure Sentinel Pricing | Microsoft Azure"
  • "Good monthly operational cost model for the detection and response outcomes delivered, M365 logs don't count toward the limits which is a good benefit."
  • "I have had mixed feedback. At one point, I heard a client say that it sometimes seems more expensive. Most of the clients are on Office 365 or M365, and they are forced to take Azure SIEM because of the integration."
  • "It is kind of like a sliding scale. There are different tiers of pricing that go from $100 per day up to $3,500 per day. So, it just kind of depends on how much data is being stored. There can be additional costs to the standard license other than the additional data. It just kind of depends on what other services you're spinning up in Azure, or if you're using something like Azure log analytics."
  • "I am just paying for the log space with Azure Sentinel. It costs us about $2,000 a month. Most of the logs are free. We are only paying money for Azure Firewall logs because email logs or Azure AD logs are free to use for us."
  • "Sentinel is a bit expensive. If you can figure a way of configuring it to meet your needs, then you can find a way around the cost."
  • "Azure Sentinel is very costly, or at least it appears to be very costly. The costs vary based on your ingestion and your retention charges."

  • "The price of the solution is not very competitive but it is reasonable."
  • "The price of AWS Security Hub is average compared to other solutions."
  • "The pricing is fine. It is not an expensive tool."
  • "AWS Security Hub's pricing is pretty reasonable."
  • "There are multiple subscription models, like yearly, monthly, and packaged."
  • "AWS Security Hub is not an expensive tool. I would consider it to be a cheap solution. AWS Security Hub follows the PAYG pricing model, meaning you will have to pay for whatever you use."
  • "Security Hub is not an expensive solution."

  • "Purchasing Sumo Logic through the AWS Marketplace was a simple step."
  • "Purchasing the solution through the AWS Marketplace is very easy."
  • "We chose to go through the AWS Marketplace because it makes it a lot easier when we bill our customers. Rather than having to get multiple different sources of information then correlate a monthly bill for our customers, it is just included in the AWS usage charges."
  • "The AWS Marketplace pricing is fairly reasonable for what it does. I wouldn't call it expensive, but I wouldn't call it cheap. It is pretty good."
  • "The only limit to the scalability of the product for us is how much we are willing to pay."
  • "The price scaling comes in a bit expensive."
  • "Pricing has been cheaper than some of the competing tools, like Splunk."
  • "If we went to ELK Stack, which is open source, it would have been less costly, but it would have required more development from our side."
