Q&A Highlights
Question: Why would you choose purchasing Camunda Platform over Bizagi?
Answer: I can't give you a good reason to skip over Bizagi. I have been using Bizagi for over 4 years and have gone from total low-code skeptic to low-code evangelist and a strong supporter of Bizagi. It's available for no cost to learn, develop, and test/pilot process automation (up to 20 users in test), and has very reasonable licensing options for production once you are ready to go live. It also is powerful and flexible. We're even using it to drive our docket and scheduling system for hearings (not something one things of doing with a "process automation" tool). Can't recommend Bizagi strongly enough.

Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of the features I like is that when drawing any task, when putting a task on the process model canvas, I can simply click on it and see the other task icons for that task. It's just one quick, simple, straightforward connectivity from task to task.""Bizagi is flexible. I can share things with other consultants because it is the most commonly used software in my community. It has been a great and good resource for us in making sure that we adhere to the process.""The documentation capabilities are very good. Very structured documents and process versions are valuable features, and being able to communicate that to our customers is also a very good feature. It has a good balance between the effort and the result. So, you don't need to be too detailed. You can document while you are modeling, which is a very good feature.""Your team can work on it having basic training about databases and BPM modeling.""Bizagi is simple. It's simple to learn.""The main feature of Bizagi is the speed to which we can automate processes and how we can modify them without a strong impact on the end users.""The free online Help and E-Learning is very strong.""Business process modelling and simulation."

More Bizagi Pros →

"For an internal project, this is a solution that you can install and have up and running quite quickly.""We can easily define and deploy business processes. Camunda provides the tools that allow business people to design business processes. We don't have to have developers for it. It is so easy to use that our business people can go into the tool and model their business processes. We get time to do other things than just designing business processes.""The most valuable feature is that, with a visual system, you can try to have a process client before beginning the programming for the application.""It is quite easy to build a simple process without any knowledge of programming.""The interface and the number of connectors that they provide are the most valuable features. The support here, it's kind of okay. But the main thing is with the number of connectors and the UI, the user interface.""Its flexibility stands out as the most valuable feature.""Provides an easy way to integrate with the architectural environment.""When I compare it with other BPM tools, like IBM, it is great, open source, and free when you use the community version."

Cons
"Cloud support for their process mapping tool could be better. To map all your processes in any way and call your data, you need to download their on-premise setup or their desktop setup. Cloud support for process mapping is limited, and they should work on that.""The product used to have a simulation feature, which I had used quite often. However, it's since been discontinued. It might have originally been a paid feature. It would be nice if they could bring it back and offer it for free.""Its performance needs to be improved. The main thing is that it is limited, especially in terms of the response times. When the processes become a bit large, it is very awkward to work with the Bizagi modeler. When you have already modeled but start to rearrange, it is quite a bit of an effort to change the stuff. When you rearrange lanes or have new structures, it goes rather squiggly up and down and so on, which could be improved. The visual outputs of the DIREPs of the process models are pixelated and have a bad image quality. It is a PNG or JPEG, and you cannot export it as a PDF. When you have rather large processes, you should be able to arrange them hierarchically. Currently, it is not supported. If you use sub-processes and inflate a process, suddenly the arrangement is totally different, and although you know the process, you have to look where is it now. You need a good understanding of the levels of your processes before you start in Bizagi. It can have automatic support for optimal presentation. In BPM, you should have it from the top left to the bottom right. However, in most cases, people don't know how they should arrange it. Therefore, it would be nice to have a suggestion system for different arrangements to be able to better present the process.""In terms of what needs improvement, the costs can be lowered.""In business process mapping, you have pools and dark pools. I don't see that Bizagi differentiates between a regular pool and a dark pool.""The on-premise software has some bugs.""It should provide the ability to create a simple application. It can be used for database modeling diagrams and forms, but it should also support CRUD, that is, create, read, update and delete.""From a developer's point of view, an improvement in the layout would make the UI better."

More Bizagi Cons →

"In terms of features, it meets my needs, but I would like Camunda to have an office in Brazil and provide training in Portuguese. They should provide regional support and training courses in Portuguese.""When you search for Camunda BPM resources or books on how to utilize Camunda BPM, it is lacking. When it comes to Alfresco, there are thousands of resources that can help you to utilize within AWS and its Group Services. I would like to see the usage of Camunda BPM on Amazon Web Services be improved.""An improvement would be to support Angular 2 instead of AngularJS, which is quite old.""In the future, I would definitely like to see the process administration (migration, audit, tracking) and process evaluation (optimize) features added to the community edition.""The support definitely can be improved. Apart from that, the language should be extendable to other platforms. If I want to write, I'll run a different platform, like Python code on top of it, or COBOL code on top of it, and it should support those languages.""Customization and tech stack could be up-to-date.""It's costly and not accessible for small enterprises or startups. It would be great if Camunda offered a tier plan for smaller companies.""The product's initial setup phase is difficult for beginners."

I have been using Camunda and BizAgi, amongst some others, during an evaluation.

Both are easy to use. My business peers tended towards Camunda because we would get a native language speaking support (in German). (However, for very other reasons we did choose something very different).
