Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution is pretty generic and easy to use.""The most valuable feature of Juniper Mist is the Virtual Network Assistant, powered by artificial intelligence.""The most valuable feature of Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) is the ability to troubleshoot ports on the network. Additionally, when there is an update on the APs they are able to reboot quickly reducing downtime. Other solutions have a longer downtime when updates are done.""The simplicity is great.""You can easily monitor, manage, and cover all your IT equipment.""The most valuable feature of the solution is Marvis, the AI-driven network management system.""It provides private network access, helping us protect our company’s devices.""With Mist, every Wednesday they roll out new features."

"The ability to make different types of networks, such as land networks, is the most valuable part of the solution.""The solution is highly scalable.""It is good, and it works.""Cisco Wireless is mostly stable with a low downrate and the signal rate is good. It is also easy to use.""Our organization has improved using this product because it helps enhance user experience. We use video communication a lot, like Skype. We used to get a lot of interference before and had a lot of issues during wireless voice or video calls. We get greater speed and performance with wireless now. It is nearly the same as a wired network.""I find this solution easy to configure and use.""It can provide support for real-time applications, such as VoIP and Video Conferencing over wireless infrastructure.""It is a stable solution."

"The platform's most valuable feature is the ability to provide cloud access to configure and manage devices.""Unlike the Cisco solution that needs a dedicated wireless controller outside of a firewall, SonicWall has everything in one box. Fortinet is close to it.""A good management tool that can be managed through the cloud or firewall."

Cons
"There is room for improvement in terms of support and installation.""The pricing should be made cheaper.""The product should include adaptive Wi-Fi to show a more accurate location.""Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) could improve if the MIST platform had a built-in master key. This would be an advantage.""If you want to do more specific stuff, it's a bit limited.""The pricing is very high in the Indian market.""The price could be better.""Juniper Wireless AP can improve by continually improving its reporting and integration with other systems."

"The reporting of the product could be improved. When I needed to troubleshoot, I couldn't get sufficient information from the controller.""In this part of the world, support is the weak side of this solution.""It's very scalable, but when you shift gears sometimes, you have to do more work than people anticipate.""Its licensing has been very frustrating. There is also the complexity of managing the product. These are probably the two reasons why we're looking at Aruba. The way they license this product is not simple. There are some good features in the latest version, but there are additional license costs as well, which is frustrating for us. It is not really a feature issue for us. It really comes down to cost and licensing. They should make it a bit simpler to manage. We find the overall solution a little bit more complex than we would like to deal with. Its troubleshooting is a bit difficult, and it does require a high skill set. Comparatively, Aruba seems quite simple. One of the benefits of the Aruba product is that it is cloud-managed. We don't have to manage the management platform itself, whereas Cisco is on-premise. Its user interface could also be better.""Improvement needed in RRM, ATF, Ortho-Polarization, AP concurrent client processing.""There's a delay in equipment that comes to Columbia, to our country, and that lasts almost six months.""There is a problem with the controller. When we have to restart the controller, it does not show the time. We have to manually configure the time when we restart it. I have read about this issue, to get some information, and all answers are about having to connect it with a time server, which is very difficult.""They should introduce zero interference capabilities."

More Cisco Wireless Cons →

"Integrating with the firewall and management console was a little complex.""We have a lot of overlapping wireless networks with a lot of cheap equipment that does not run on any rules or regulations. The best way to improve the wireless network, like in SonicWaves, is to defeat these networks by isolating, preventing them, or overcoming their wireless signal. We try to do that, but I live near an airport, and the AirPortRadar glitches my wireless network every nine seconds.""The product's pricing is high and could be improved."

  • "The pricing is too high."

  • "I rate Juniper Mist's pricing a ten out of ten since it is expensive."
  • "I rate the pricing an eight out of ten."

  • "It is an expensive solution."
  • "Expensive."
  • "As far as I know Cisco is very competitive, price-wise. Talk to your third-party vendor. It all depends on the company size - how many employees, how big the building is. If it's wireless, and you have only 50 employees but you're using a large building floor, in that case you need many access points. But if you have 50 employees using two or three rooms, then you probably don't need it and it's going to be high density, so there is a different design. So you need to talk to a subject matter expert. Talk to them and design accordingly."
  • "Cisco is more on the expensive side, as compared to Aruba, but I must say Cisco's quality is unmatched, for sure."
  • "I am not a fan of Cisco's software pricing model. Their management software is far too expensive."
  • "The pricing is high. It could be cheaper."
  • "Never pay the full GPL price."
  • "Pricing is a bit on the high side compared to its competitors but we have to consider the support and usages of the solution. Licensing is now RTU and smart licensing. We need three types of licenses. One for each of the: APs, HA, controller."
  • More Cisco Wireless Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The pricing of the SonicWave Access Points solution is different in the US and Brazil. In the US, the solution is priced more competitively than other vendors. In Brazil, the exchange rate is a problem. To address this, SonicWall managers in Brazil are running several sales promotions and improving the price of new units."
  • "The platform offers yearly licenses."
