We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"PowerEdge Rack Servers offer good performance in handling the evolving needs of high-performance workloads and offer good value for money.""Compared to the other vendors and generations, this one tends to be more user-friendly, so you spend less time trying to get where you want to go.""The most valuable features are that they are very reliable, and Dell's technical service is also optimal.""The Dell name holds a lot of weight on our position as a partner of Dell's when it comes to liquid cooling the systems. We have a great relationship with Dell, so we are able to exchange information very easily to be able to build these systems for our customers.""When it comes to energy consumption they're also very good. They don't use power because they're power-hungry, but because we use them very hard.""The newer servers are more energy-efficient compared to older ones.""Dell PowerEdge servers are powerful. They don't break, and I love that. In my career of over 30 years now, all the Dell servers we've ever used out of the box have never broken.""It's very easy to get new systems in the data center and to get them ready for production."

"HPE Apollo's pricing is low, and implementation is very easy compared to other products.""We're going to buy another Apollo 6500. We may configure it with half the number of GPUs because that may be all we need. In a sense, we can see the Apollo 6500 being so powerful that we only need half the GPU capability that we have now.""The solution is well documented in a data sheet.""We usually use three blades for two-rack units, and with enough storage, it's really a small system with a powerful CPU, powerful hard drives, powerful disks.""HPE Apollo's most valuable feature is the ability to expand our storage capacity.""Apollo Systems provide stuff that standard services do not. More HTDs, more compute power, at very reasonable pricing.""Absolutely being able to mount into Omni-Path architecture, HFIs on those nodes, because we were the very first site in the world""It's very reliable. I haven't had a single failure at all in the year and a half; not the slightest problem with it."

Cons
"System security can be improved. They can add more power and security for ESXi version 7.""One of the things that I've noticed is that over time, the system degrades, meaning that little things don't work. For example, the hard drive would need to be replaced or iDRAC would not be functioning properly. We may have to flash the firmware. It is not like some other hardware where it just runs without issues for four or five years. With Dell, generally, there are little hiccups here and there.""While I wouldn't call it a problem, physically mounting the servers into the rails that come with the servers can be a challenge. They could be engineered to be a little bit easier to use. It's not that significant, we can manage it, but you need at least two people to do it together because they're a bit heavy.""I don't know much about the new Intel CPUs, but they need to put more than two CPUs in the servers. It may be an Intel limitation, but I'm not sure.""Enriching the operational efficiency of Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers could be achieved through the strategic implementation of a central management console hosted in the cloud.""After purchasing the product, customers have not been getting the support that they need in the early stages of getting set up. They can provide customers a little bit more education as to what they get with certain warranty levels. The data is there if the customers dig, but a lot of times, the customers don't dig. Some of the other server models come out a little bit quicker than Dell. It would be good if Dell is quicker to market on new, larger drives when they become available. Sometimes, we do get hit on that against a couple of competitors. Dell vets them a little bit longer than like the super micros to keep their stability and quality level up, but they lose a little bit of ground to a super micro. It would be good if they can release features and models as soon and as fast as they can. It would help them to stay more competitive.""It would be easier if the remote connection to the server could be done through the USB port. From the server, we should be able to connect to a laptop or a management workstation through a USB port.""The solution could still use some more analytics."

"If there could be some training for our team, we would be better equipped to promote and support HPE Apollo.""I would want to see the flexibility of being able to run various network protocols including InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, as well as iSCSI, with iSCSI going up to 100 gigabytes per second -that would be outstanding.""The support from HPE Apollo could be better, they are making knowledgeable.""Lustre seems to be just a little bit unstable overall.""What's coming out in Gen 10 is very strong in terms of additional security.""The predictive analysis feature could be improved.""HPE Apollo's after-sales support and technical support should be improved.""We have tried to used standardization using Ubuntu Linux and it's been hard. They had some difficulties getting the RAID configuration up and running because there are no drivers for it. It's not supported by HPE."
