Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The solution's analytics helped to decrease production downtime by more than 60%. PowerEdge also helped to reduce data processing and has reduced the timing for any workload.""We like the iDRAC card which gives us remote access to the server out of band. That's fantastic because if a box is misbehaving, I'm able to get into the bare metal and repair the operating system without needing to go out to the branch office, which could be anywhere in the UK.""The core strength of Dell PowerEdge Rack Servers lies in their expansive connectivity and seamless integration with other offerings within the Dell product ecosystem.""This product has really saved us a lot of headaches when it comes to hardware replacements. It's something it seems that Dell has improved. You quickly log your support case and get support. The turnaround time is really fast.""This solution keeps us up and running and reduces downtime. PowerEdge helped us to reduce data processing time. The PowerEdge systems management frameworks enabled us to progress towards full automation.""The ease of setting them up is valuable. It is easy to set them up.""The solution is easy to use and very stable, and we are happy with it.""When it comes to energy consumption they're also very good. They don't use power because they're power-hungry, but because we use them very hard."

"The performance is the best feature.""I have found the LDAP facilities most valuable. In addition, I like the CPU.""The Oracle server is very powerful. They are more powerful and durable compared to Intel hardware. Which has been a benefit to our organization.""The most valuable features of the solution stem from the fact that Oracle Database functions very well with Oracle SPARC Servers.""The processor is very helpful and the licensing is very flexible.""Our customers are happy with many features in Oracle SPARC Servers, like the automatic ASR feature.""The operating system is rock solid and the best I have ever used."

Cons
"The BIOS interface could be improved; it is very poor. PowerEdge is very good overall, but if you compare the BIOS interface with HPE, it is not very good.""While I wouldn't call it a problem, physically mounting the servers into the rails that come with the servers can be a challenge. They could be engineered to be a little bit easier to use. It's not that significant, we can manage it, but you need at least two people to do it together because they're a bit heavy.""The price is acceptable but could be improved.""After purchasing the product, customers have not been getting the support that they need in the early stages of getting set up. They can provide customers a little bit more education as to what they get with certain warranty levels. The data is there if the customers dig, but a lot of times, the customers don't dig. Some of the other server models come out a little bit quicker than Dell. It would be good if Dell is quicker to market on new, larger drives when they become available. Sometimes, we do get hit on that against a couple of competitors. Dell vets them a little bit longer than like the super micros to keep their stability and quality level up, but they lose a little bit of ground to a super micro. It would be good if they can release features and models as soon and as fast as they can. It would help them to stay more competitive.""There might be room for improvement, especially in the software aspect, such as firmware updates.""We are leaning away from this particular product because Dell's VxRail solution makes us buy four nodes at a time which is not scalable. Other solutions such as Cisco offer more innovation on this front.""I would like enhanced latitude in the machine assembly process.""The shipment times could be improved. Sometimes we have to wait four or five days before we get the actual servers. It could even be longer. Sometimes it is many days."

"They have declared the end of life of the hardware.""Oracle SPARC Servers should be fine-tuned well enough to work with the other servers and software products in the market, as it is an area where Oracle SPARC Servers lack.""I would like to see a reduced price point.""They need some sort of modeling because IBM has different types of models.""Oracle doesn't have a good roadmap for the solution because they are moving to the x86 platform.""The solution could improve by giving a clear roadmap about the future. I'm not seeing a lot of improvements on the OS side of the software. They need to work more on the operating system.""Like IBM, Oracle SPARC Servers should be able to run other open operating systems like Linux."
