Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product is quite well-organized. The GUI makes it easy to navigate.""We have many application systems, and I can set up Fortinet FortiSIEM for users to monitor their systems.""FortiSIEM is a great tool for making security processes transparent.""The solution’s IP database is awesome.""I like the various options, including the option for CMDB and the easier access to create rules, playbooks, or use cases. It's also easier to use for creating dashboards and reports.""Real-time monitoring makes life quite easy for me.""It is used as an alerting platform.""The solution is very stable. It's run for years without the need to do anything except, add new patches when they are available, which are always a good idea to install."

"It allows you to see traffic that you couldn't otherwise see, which is traffic within your Layer 3-bounded network, meaning east-west traffic. It's hard to get that any other way.""Whenever we say "valuable" with respect to the network, it's more towards the security. The firewall rule issues it shows us and the recommendations that we get from vRNI are the most valuable features because they are actually making our network more secure.""The ability to use the natural language query and see the visualization is quickly intuitive, and it works very well.""compare-to-competition; I would recommend the product. I don't think there is any other product like this on the market right now.""It's user-friendly. It's similar to the GUI that most VMware products are moving to, and the consistency across those makes it easy to switch from one product to another. Also, the search bar at the top is plain text and it helps you, it guides you along with your search query, so that helps. The first day you're in there you can start building actual queries.""A lot of time is saved when you use this type of software solution for the network. We have moved systems into the new data center and the servers and systems are much faster because of the very low latency between virtual machines.""It gives the visibility that was either broken or there in pieces only. This solution provides a unified view of the whole system, back and forth. It has helped to reduce time to value, increase performance, more easily manage networks, and provide deep visibility.""It especially helps with deploying NSX, that you're not having to manually chase down and figure out what you need to do to microsegment VMs. This gives a nice option where you can say, "Hey, this VM, show me what flows are there." I can export it out and then import it as an NSX rule and job done."

Cons
"The policy editing should be easier. Right now, it's too hard.""The solution needs to do a better job with third party integration. Right now, that's lacking on the solution. I specifically am talking about the AWS environment. Most of the AWS environment products do not have that capability to integrate.""Does not have load-sharing or high-availability, and these are important things to implement. I can do the same things in another way, but not naturally having these features makes it complicated.""We expect the latest patch from Fortinet FortiSIEM to give the ability to work with signature files.""Fortinet FortiSIEM could improve to extend to several locations or sites.""The performance can be improved. Sometimes it takes a long time to fetch data.""The biggest thing that could be better is a quicker response to support cases.""The process of installing Fortinet FortiSIEM and the customization of the alerts take too long."

More Fortinet FortiSIEM Cons →

"I would like to see more interoperability on the firewall and low balancer sides.""I would like to see application identification. That would be cool.""vRNI needs more remediation where it hooks into NSX.""The virtual appliance has rebooted.""There are some random glitches in the Web UI, but they are usually pretty cosmetic in nature. I don't really seem to use any browser other than Chrome with it. I also get some weird errors from time to time on the hardware NetFlow Collectors, where it doesn't sync data.""The solution can be improved by making it more compatible with other brands, allowing for better integration.""It just needs to be more reliable and more accurate. At some point, there are some things where it does not match properly.""If it had some kind of plugins with vSphere, more effective plugins with Horizon View or other VMWare products, if it had interconnectivity, I think it would be more effective than it is today."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Please be cheaper and more simplified."
  • "We bought the perpetual license, so we own the product, but there is a three-year support renewal fee for that."
  • "Pricing is acceptable for more than 90% of our customers, as they normally get discounts."
  • "Its price can be better. We are Fortinet partners, so we can get discounts, but its price can be an issue at the beginning for others. There is a licensing scheme for every case. There are three licensing schemes that we can choose from."
  • "The price of Fortinet FortiSIEM is a lot less when compared to other solutions."
  • "They have a yearly subscription."
  • "The solution is available for both, perpetual and subscription licenses."
  • "Manageable, however would be better as pay as you go versus CapEX."

  • "The solution has helped us to reduce time, increase performance, reduce costs, and even easily manage networks. We are probably seeing 10 to 20 percent labor savings because we are able to be very specific and focused on what we want to do. It ends up saving the customer money and makes us be more efficient on our cost deliveries."
  • "It reduces costs. It takes something that may be challenging and makes it more usable and visual by being able to bring in tools, seeing what their impact is, such as microsegmentation and application rationalization, and seeing it quickly."
  • "Cost always has room for improvement, you could always make it cheaper. But I think it's a good value for what you pay for it."
  • "It's an expensive product because we have a lot of nodes."
  • "They should include the product in NSX because it's important to have it for deployment."
  • "The solution has reduced the time that we spend on other products. For example, with NSX, we were able to quickly find things that we would normally spend days trying to figure out."
  • "We have spent less time investigating network flows, so it is absolutely cost-effective."
  • "It has brought more money into our company."
