Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It's a very powerful and simple tool to use.""It also has very good fundamental machine learning. It has decision trees, linear regression, and neural nets. It has a lot of text mining facilities as well. It's fairly fully-featured.""This solution is easy to use and especially good at data preparation and wrapping.""I've tried to utilize KNIME to the fullest extent possible to replace Excel.""From a user-friendliness perspective, it's a great tool.""It's a coding-less opportunity to use AI. This is the major value for me.""The ETL which helps me to collect, reformat, and load the data from multiple sources into one destination, a storage database.""KNIME is fast and the visualization provides a lot of clarity. It clarifies your thinking because you can see what's going on with your data."

More KNIME Pros →

"The feature I find most valuable is the ability to publish Power Bi reports, using an embedded link, directly onto a website.""Previously we used Excel, which took a long time - two or three weeks - to bring the data into a uniform format, whereas BI can do the same job in a day.""Reporting is the best thing about Power BI. And it could help improve decision-making in many ways. Power BI is flexible and easier to use compared to tools.""Connectivity, installation, and configuration are pretty fast and seamless compared to Cognos.""PowerBI – Self-service BI.""My primary use is for view of the dashboard.""Its connectivity with other Office applications, mostly with Excel, and the ability to deploy it very easily are the most valuable features. It comes sort of bundled with the cloud, so you don't need to set up a server and a standalone infrastructure. So, getting into the system or building something that you can deploy is very easy and very cheap. With other systems, you need to have a server, and you need to have a license for the server. The initial setup is very costly.""I've seen no issues with BI's stability."

Cons
"They could add more detailed examples of the functionality of every node, how it works and how we can use it, to make things easier at the beginning.""I'd like something that would make it easier to connect/parse websites, although I will fully admit that I'm not as proficient in KNIME as I would like to be, so it could be I'm just missing something.""The solution is inconvenient when it comes to wrangling data that includes multiple steps or features because each step or feature requires its own icon.""The data visualization part is the area most in need of improvement.""KNIME's licensing and data management aren't as straightforward relative to Alteryx. Alteryx's tools are more sophisticated, so you need fewer to use it compared to KNIME. I think tab implementation could be easier, too.""One area that could be improved is increasing awareness and adoption of KNIME among organizations. Despite its capabilities, it is not as well-known as other tools. The advertising and marketing efforts to reach out to companies and universities have not been very successful.""In my environment, I need to access a lot of servers with different characteristics and access methods. Some of my servers have to be accessed using proxy which is not supported by KNIME, so I still need to create the middleware to supply the source of my KNIME configurations.""The documentation needs a proper rework. "

More KNIME Cons →

"They asked you to pay if you want to synchronize more than eight times, you would have to go to a Power BI enterprise license, which is much more costly.""The formatting template could be improved.""When I create measures, sometimes the error messages aren't clear. It makes me spend more time searching for solutions. I need the error messages to be more specific. So, I would like clearer error messages when creating measures.""Areas for improvement would be the construction of reports and the dashboard budget.""At times, I feel that the system needs improvement in single sign-on, especially for the on-premises side of the tool.""The one thing that I noticed specifically was the graphical features, and some of the analytical features. They were stronger on the Tableau side.""The DAX in Microsoft BI is quite difficult.""Microsoft BI comes under pressure when there is a lot of data to be crunched. It gets slower and slower, and the functionality becomes a bit of a problem. The performance goes down with data being fed into the system. The infrastructure requirement also increases if you have to increase the performance. This is the area that can be improved in my opinion. Initially, the product is good, but over the years, when data gets accumulated, it becomes a problem unless the old data is kind of archived and is no longer shown on the visualization. It has a feature by using which a user can query for a report through simple questions to a bot. So, if I want to look for the customer share of revenue by geography, I just simply state that in the chatbot. If I wanted it in a pie chart, then you say, "Please show it to me in a pie chart." It comes out well for basic charts. This feature should be improvised more so that people can very quickly get customized reports on the go."
