We performed a comparison between Plotly and Tableau based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Reporting solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The level of interactivity that the product provides is valuable to me."
"When reviewing and interpreting data, I typically examine it in a tabular form to understand its structure. However, when explaining or presenting the findings to others, I often use visualization tools such as Plotly. These tools allow me to create visual representations of datasets."
"It is a scalable solution. Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a nine to ten out of ten."
"Very user friendly."
"It's very user-friendly. It's not like Power BI, Tableau is very user-friendly. Anybody can use Tableau. It's very easy to adopt things. I can visualize the stats."
"I like Tableau's heat maps and the storyboard. You can create data stories and tons of visuals with it, and it goes together really well. Tableau lets you manipulate the data in various ways."
"I have found the solution easy to use and the interface is very good."
"It is very good for data visualization. It has very powerful visualizations and is easy to use."
"Tableau's initial setup was straightforward."
"The most valuable feature is the aggregation function."
"It is definitely easy to use. It is intuitive, and more or less, everything can be done from the front end. As such, there is no concept of metadata. You can just take data from a database and start building your own stuff, such as OLAP data warehouse. You don't need extensive metadata modeling like Oracle BI."
"The tool needs to improve its pie charts. Regarding Plotly, I find the online documentation somewhat challenging to navigate, especially when dealing with many parameters. Searching through thousands of parameters can be a tedious and less straightforward process. While the documentation is available online and serves its purpose, I often encounter difficulties in finding the information."
"The solution cannot be deployed on the website and shared with others through its own platform."
"I believe that the prices of the tool's paid services could be on the premium side, so the pricing model can be considered for improvement."
"At the organizational level, increasing the servers' capabilities to support us as an enterprise tool."
"If you wanted to create something without making it an extra column in the data set, you can't just rename it to a more user-friendly short name."
"It should have more integration with different tools and technologies. Its licensing cost should also be improved."
"In the next release, I would like to be able to have the option to see more raw data that I'm converting on the dashboard."
"I also work as an SME on the platform side. Tableau is very nice and jazzy for the end-users, but there are pain points for the admins. Performance is something about which we hear a lot of complaints, such as the dashboard doesn't open in time. It performs well on the desktop but not on the server. I know that there is always a limitation when it comes to a huge amount of data or the complexity of the calculations, but we often hear from end-users about the performance on the server side. It is easy to drag and drop all the columns and do what we want, but if it is not going to load better on the server, users are not going to like it."
"We would like a report model, because currently there is no schema that we can create in the tool."
"It's already using 32 gigabytes of memory, but the performance is not so good. It's very heavy."
"Include forecasting on table calculation fields."
