We performed a comparison between SAP analytics cloud vs. Tableau based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Tableau users say the best feature is the ease of use, which allows anyone to use the platform. The visual capability helps users explain the data more straightforwardly. On the downside, users say Tableau could improve its data management and ETL features, especially in the Tableau Prep feature.
Comparison Results: SAP Analytics Cloud seems to be a superior solution because of the multiple features. Although the support is slow, it is still better than Tableau’s standard support. Tableau’s upgrades are also challenging to install.
"The most valuable feature of SAP Analytics Cloud is its integration with SAP."
"Visualization is quite seamless and awesome. Once the data messaging is set up, it's straightforward and simple to select how it should be displayed. So, that's another advantage of SAP."
"I would recommend this solution for companies that are SAP dependent with users working in this environment."
"Its user-friendliness is valuable. It is a product for end-users and not for IT, which is an advantage."
"Data integration is very good."
"The most valuable feature of the tool is machine learning."
"The most valuable features are the visualization and user-friendliness."
"It is a comprehensive BI solution that provides reporting, planning, and predictive analytics in one solution. You don't have to buy three different products. It is very flexible. It can be implemented very quickly. It has a lot of out-of-the-box scenarios that you can use for quick deployment."
"There are already connectors to almost every single major database and service that you can possibly think of."
"Its dashboarding is the most valuable. It is easy to create visualizations and dashboards and import Excel sheets and ESP files in Tableau as compared to other tools."
"Good data flow and management."
"This service is the combination of very pleasant, interactive graphical visualizations along with the application of advanced statistical models (in some cases)."
"It is a very stable product. It doesn't break."
"The maps and colors and interface are all fantastic."
"The number one thing was just the ease of getting something up quickly. The other thing that was good about it was that it was fairly fast for decent-sized data sets in terms of performance and run time."
"The most valuable feature is the interface, which is user-friendly and intuitive."
"Live Data Models are very slow and the setup can be improved, with tools such as Cloud Connector being inbuilt into SAP Analytics Cloud. Likewise, we need to write application code from scratch, rather than tweaking existing code, as we might with Excel macros. Moreover, when using responsive pages, the widgets get adjusted according to the mobile screen. As a result, when I place two or three KPI tiles, they can only be viewed tile-by-tile. We want to see the full dashboard on the mobile screen and zoom in to click on a particular section of the dashboard and go further into that. But displaying tile-by-tile makes it very annoying and the upper management using this dashboard might not be aware there are any more tiles to view."
"SAP could add some more visualization features to Analytics Cloud, like charts and analytics. I would also like to see some more data cleaning and ad hoc functions added to this solution."
"Technical support could be more helpful and responsive."
"Some algorithms are complex and can't be processed by just tagging the data and expecting results."
"Could have more tabular reporting capabilities."
"I would like to see reporting to the Analytics cloud directly."
"The business intelligence features should be improved because there is a lack of functionality regarding that part."
"Sometimes there are speed issues with big deletion data."
"The solution could use more features in data analytics."
"When you're working on a dashboard, you can't select multiple components at a time and align them, so you have to go one by one. This is very cumbersome."
"I would like Tableau Prep to be integrated with Tableau Desktop. I would also like more customizations for tables."
"I don't have the ability in Tableau to create a tooltip and see the picture of a piece of jewelry or watch that is a best seller."
"The process of embedding the dashboards on external portals and websites could be improved."
"There should be stronger data modules for the platform."
"Overall, the only major frustration that I have had so far is with Tableau Public. I first used Tableau Public when I was building capacity, and when there was a later release to download and you wanted to upgrade, all your work would have to be manually re-entered."
"Lacks machine learning algorithms that you can implement using R, SPSS Modeler, and Python."

In case you are working for a small accounting firm, Tableau or Power Bi may cover all your needs. It is important, what kind of ERP system do you use. Are you running SAP S4/Hana, stay in SAP word. If you run other product look to other options. Does not make sense to use SAP AC only, far too expensive and will be hard to utilize fully. Solutions like Tableau or Power Bi are easy to use and will give you great result. On the other side it is not so much about the system, but about data quality, this is the key.
Tableau is a fantastic product. It works really well and is remarkably easy to use. SAP Analytics Cloud is also a good product. Both are quite inexpensive. Personally, I prefer Tableau for its ease of use and quick results.
