We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Advanced routing (RIP, OSPF, BGP, PBR). It gives you a seamless and simple integration into a large network.""We use the FortiGate Sandbox to detect zero-day vulnerabilities, such as anomalies or malware, that are unknown and have not yet been discovered.""Some of the key features of the solution is that it has good reporting, you can receive many details from the connection, for example, clients and website information.""Good load balancing feature.""The technical support is great.""It's very fast and easy to configure.""The main reason why I purchased the particular unit was that it had good reviews and what other people were saying as far as its completeness and its leading capabilities in terms of endpoint security was very good.""The payment function for applications is good."

"The product helps improve our security.""The customization of firewall rules provides great value to our customers as it allows them to lock things up in the way that they desire. When it is used for internal access, with a VPN in place for remote workers, the firewalling services provided by Azure, such as the default services that can be turned on, are applied. However, the use of a software-based virtual firewall gives us greater flexibility in introducing security controls for customers who are publishing applications that are publicly accessible from the public cloud. This virtual firewall provides an additional layer of security and more extensive security control options to ensure the protection of our customers' valuable information and assets.""One of the standout features of SonicWall is its simplicity in creating and managing rules.""The solution has no additional charges and no restrictions on the number of users.""The security of this system is fantastic, including the IPS and IDS.""SonicWall NSV is easy to use, and you can use it to manage the logs easily.""We purchased the AGSS Bundle (Advanced Gateway Security Suite) for the security services, such as antivirus, intrusion prevention system, and anti-spyware botnet GUI."

"A very robust product.""The scalability of the solution is good.""The most valuable features are the IPS, the firewall function, and the price.""It's an easy, straightforward management platform to use.""I like how you can configure the rules. There is the task for the rules and a task for the network configuration. It also provides SMD filtering, and it can be integrated with the active directory for the users, their mission, and the VPN configuration. We are here in Sudan, and Stormshield didn't work in Sudan for more than a decade. Stormshield is a very strong firewall and very easy to configure and maintain. I am just working with the firewall solution, and we don't have any other solutions like endpoint solutions or something like that.""This solution is quick and easy to configure.""Easily manageable in a variety of environments.""The solution has improved my organization because I can see what traffic is happening and I can use it to block and prevent attacks."

Cons
"I don't really have anything negative to say as far as Fortinet firewalls are concerned. If anything, they can support a user a little bit better. They can stop being so time-sensitive about how much time the support call has taken, and they can help you do it yourself.""I would like to have logs, monitoring, and reporting for a month without extra fees.""I would like to see improvements made to the dashboard and UI, as well as to the reporting.""The user interface could be improved.""The user interface could be improved to make it less confusing and easier to set up.""Sometimes you do need to know some CLI commands, so it's a bit harder for technicians or new people that don't know it.""I would like some automated custom reporting.""FortiLink is the interface on the firewall that allows you to extend switch management across all of your switches in the network. The problem with it is that you can't use multiple interfaces unless you set them up in a lag. Only then you can run them. So, it forces you to use a core type of switch to propagate that management out to the rest of the switches, and then it is running the case at 200. It leaves you with 18 ports on the firewall because it is also a layer-three router that could also be used as a switch, but as soon as you do that, you can't really use them. They could do a little bit more clean up in the way the stacking interface works. Some use cases and the documentation on the FortiLink checking interface are a little outdated. I can find stuff on version 5 or more, but it is hard to find information on some of the newer firmware. The biggest thing I would like to see is some improvement in the switch management feature. I would like to be able to relegate some of the ports, which are on the firewall itself, to act as a switch to take advantage of those ports. Some of these firewalls have clarity ports on them. If I can use those, it would mean that I need to buy two less switches, which saves time. I get why they don't, but I would still like to see it because it would save a little bit of space in the server rack."

More Fortinet FortiGate Cons →

"An area that could be improved is the export and import settings functionality.""We face some challenges when we upgrade the solution.""There are limitations to bandwidth management.""SonicWall NSV's SSL VPN could increase its number of users to 100-plus users.""I would like to see the reporting opened up and have several more opportunities for automatic reports.""It has been brought to our attention by a few customers that they are dissatisfied with the fact that our virtualized service is only offered as a subscription option on the cloud. However, it is worth noting that many other similar services are also offered through a subscription model on the cloud and not through perpetual licensing. It is unclear why these customers would have an issue with this subscription service when so many others are utilizing similar methods.""SonicWall NSV's initial setup is complicated and requires good knowledge."

More SonicWall NSv Cons →

"Improvement is needed in terms of the technical support of the manufacturer.""This is not a next-generation firewall.""The SD card could be more secure.""With Stormshield, there are difficulties joining things, and it can be complex depending on the architecture.""This solution has a big problem with web filtering and it needs to be improved.""The filtering configuration could be better. We have some difficulties with the filtering configuration and the filter extension. It's not that easy. It's not that straightforward. In the next release, I would like to see a reporting system. Stormshield doesn't have any tutorials on how to do the configuration and things like that. They just have documentation on the website. If you want to configure, for example, Cisco or Fortinet, you can find tutorials on YouTube. They show you how to configure the features, and so on. In Stormshield, there is nothing on social media or the internet on how to configure different things. The lack of documentation or the lack of material makes it difficult for others to adopt this solution.""A more user-friendly interface would be helpful.""Not all the fields are activated yet and we were informed that it will take at least one month."
