We performed a comparison between AWS Step Functions and Pega BPM based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Business Process Management (BPM) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The solution is stable...The solution is easy to scale."
"It is a scalable solution."
"It's a general solution that you can adapt to your own needs and is simple to use. We like that it can be integrated with everything in the AWS suite, and that the creation of the pipeline can be done using the graphical user interface."
"The number of historical events is great."
"One can rate all the calls and that is a good feature."
"It's Amazon, it's scalable."
"AWS Step Functions acts as a high-level layer, allowing us to seamlessly integrate with microservices."
"The integration capability is easy, whereas building state machines is tricky."
"The case management functionality of this solution has been most valuable."
"Can do a lot of things with minimum time and cost."
"It cuts down the time taken for coding. Earlier it used take for us four hours to do a particular code. Now this can be done in less than 30 minutes. That's the kind of productivity gains you can get."
"Decreased time for plane departures and landing, supported analytical insight for planning of three to six month forecasting, and helped with operational decision planning and support."
"The solution has very helpful technical support."
"The most valuable feature of Pega BPMI would be the academy courses, specifically the Product Development Network (PDN). Additionally, our organization has a dedicated Customer Engagement Team that we work closely with to achieve our goals."
"In general, we use web services to integrate this solution with our other tools. It is the main approach we use with this solution and it integrates with all tools that we need. If you want to integrate with other solutions such ThreatFire or similar, it is possible as well."
"Pricing is a little on the high side."
"The solution's pricing could be cheaper. It is cheaper than Airflow."
"The solution's data size limit can be improved."
"The interface can sometimes feel limited, as we're unable to see what AWS is running behind the scenes."
"It is hard to coordinate the declaratory language."
"The price and support are areas with shortcomings where the solution needs to improve."
"The pricing of the solution can be improved."
"It wasn't easy to understand the licensing model. It's like if you use just a little, it's cheap, but it becomes more expensive as you use more. It's like a hook that ties you inside the Amazon ecosystem. So, it creates a dependency."
"I would like to see more data transformation features in Amazon Step Functions like additional operators and logic."
"We have experienced a few technical challenges, particularly triggering the workflow through file drops and accessing files."
"Pega currently is trying to add chatbots to their systems, and it's still quite immature. This part definitely needs to be improved."
"Business specific functionality is needed."
"The unit testing needs to improve, as well as the user interface."
"Pega BPM could improve the UI, it is poorly designed to have a good UX experience."
"Reporting is not so clear and not so great. We really struggle to get the right reporting. When we need reporting based on the content of the tickets, we are not able to get it. The MIS reporting is not great. That's one of the reasons why we are switching to ServiceNow. Its compatibility with the higher versions of Internet Explorer should be improved. It really works well in Mozilla Firefox or any other browser, but when it comes to Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer, sometimes, the layout gets disturbed. The positioning of the buttons changes, and there is some distortion in the layout. I am not sure whether it is our configuration problem or Pega's, but when it is working in Mozilla Firefox, it should also work in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer."
"The previous versions had good training documents but the updated versions need to improve the documentation."
"Currently, there isn't any feature I want to be added in the next release of Pega BPM because Pega always adds new features that my team welcomes and looks forward to learning. One area for improvement in the solution is the long learning curve, but after that, you'll find Pega BPM easy to use."
