We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"I like the flexibility of the modeling part for standards like ArchiMate and, at the same time, BPMN. It allows us to connect elements from different areas and to have a single repository and a single source of truth. It gives us one place to do analysis throughout the organization.""The feature I find most valuable is that the start times and loading times are short. It takes only a few seconds to load the repository and whenever I want to open diagrams, they are there almost immediately.""The most valuable features are the application, portfolio, data, architectures, and modeling things.""The initial setup of this solution was very straightforward.""The most valuable features of BiZZdesign HoriZZon, from my experience, include its out-of-the-box connectors, such as integration with ServiceNow, Excel, and SQL databases, making data repository management more efficient.""The most valuable feature is that it allows you to work with different methods, using the same tool.""It is very easy to use. I can just click on an application component and find out if we are using this particular component. This provides us flexibility.""The enterprise studio where the modelling happens is valuable."

"It is pretty easy to use if you are looking for this type of solution.""Installing Visio is straightforward.""The valuable feature about Visio is it has all the basic tools for creating processes.""It's very agile and user friendly with a lot of templates.""The product is stable.""The most valuable feature is the set of diagramming tools.""The thing I like most about Visio is the stencils. As the product has matured over time, it comes with more stencils and objects that you can just pick out of the menu and go with.""I like that once you create what you need, you can group that, at least within that drawing, and you have access to that new stencil object or that custom object throughout that drawing."

Cons
"It should be more open to integrating with other existing tools. Although there has been progress in the past.""It lacks capabilities with regard to infrastructure modeling.""The automatic data collection and interface need improvement.""There could be simpler modelling.""We tested it, and we had support from BiZZdesign, including patches, but it just didn't do what we wanted.""Scalability is a bit of a problem for BiZZdesign. There is always a possibility it will failover.""I have seen table charts where, if the chart is a little too big, it does not fit in HoriZZon and it is not at all visible... There have been several times where we could not publish a chart properly and we had to break the chart into small tables and create multiple artifacts, creating a complete mess. This should be seriously taken up by BiZZdesign because there is a lot of scope for improvement in terms of usability. It's not at all good, unfortunately.""Integration definitely needs improvement. There are some restrictions. We've seen that it doesn't integrate with everything we might expect."

More BiZZdesign HoriZZon Cons →

"They have to improve shapes. It has good shapes, but it certainly can have more shapes. There are no U shapes. It also requires more customizations. There are a lot of icons, but they can be modernized more. These icons have to be more customizable so that we are able to change the color and things like that. It should also have more integration so that we can use it with other tools on the web. We don't use Microsoft Teams. We use Discord, which is more for gamers. It would be helpful if Visio is integrated with Discord. I can then show my work to my team. We use Visio, and it is a must-have solution for us, but being a startup, we don't have the money to use the whole Microsoft system. Some day we will use Office. For companies like us, there should be connectors for other software. We should be able to use a connector with the software that we are using or with the new generation solutions. Connectors will make it very easy to transfer data.""It's a very large install that uses many gigabytes.""When I create an organization chart in Visio, and I want to show it to management, I shouldn't have to copy and paste it into a PowerPoint presentation or put it into a PDF file.""It needs hyperlinked or narratives for page flows to make demos more effective.""Its support team could be well-equipped with the required information.""The solution is pretty expensive.""The price could be better.""The Auto-Align has improved significantly from the previous release; however, it still jumbles the model if your process diagram has a fair degree of complexity."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "[The] Orbus... pricing model was based on every single functionality having a price. The pricing was comparable but if we wanted to scale, it would have ended up being a lot more expensive. BiZZdesign gave us one price with all of the functionality, and we could scale as much as we needed."
  • "I haven't found any issues with the scalability and licensing parts that are access-related."
  • "First and foremost within the scope of improvement for the solution would be the cost. It's very costly..."
  • "The pricing model is slightly on the high side and could be more competitive for long-term partnerships."
  • "The price is reasonable."
  • "In terms of this particular product usage, my clients currently only use per-user licenses."

  • "The cost of the software is reasonably priced."
  • "The price is reasonable for individual use but for an organization, the costs is high."
  • "Our license for Visio is including with the Office 365 subscription."
  • "Visio is about a $180 dollars to purchase. It is a one-time licensing fee."
  • "The yearly cost is approximately $400 CAD ($300 USD)."
  • "There are some cheaper as well as free solutions."
  • "I don't have any issue with the pricing. It has a subscription-based model, and the subscription is done on a yearly basis. Of course, we need internal approvals in place."

    Reviews from Real Users

Visio has improved my workflow by making it easy to create charts, diagrams, and essential illustrations to use in my client reports and proposals. It has saved me a lot of time I would otherwise spend creating visuals for clients manually.” - Michael B., Principal Consultant at Lexington Consulting

“I use it for diagramming networks, racks, data centers, data flow applications, etc. It is a useful tool to map data flows, network objects, and computer science technology and to show to clients. It does what I need it to do. It's a tool I've used the longest, so I know it the best, and that's probably the claim to fame.” - Greg S., Director of Solution Architecture at Winslow Technology Group

“We use Visio for architecture modeling. We also use it to facilitate communication with other people. The feature I like most about Visio is that it acts as a facilitator of communication, as it displays information in a way that's easier to understand.” - Guy M., IT/Business Architect at a financial services firm
