Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"We can track issues easier and run reports on issues to see if there are patterns.""Ability to auto-generate email messages, process email messages, and approvals.""It has helped the help desk team. We get our tickets in and are able to support our customers, the end-users, with this solution.""Having a one stop shop for linked assets and tickets has improved end user adoption and led to a reduction in phone/email tickets.""It is stable and its technical support is good and quick.""I like the fact that FootPrints is a relational database, so every item in the database can be linked to another. This helps create history and audit trails for each CI.""Technical support is good.""The discovery feature is very flexible."

"What I like the most is that it's a common service data model and the fact that everything is available on one platform.""We have found change management and CMDB to be very useful.""There are features included in the new release for intelligent software, like the chatbot. For HR services, the HR agent which is in that chatbot has been fantastic.""ServiceNow is an industry leader in multiple areas and provides an excellent ROI.""Being able to have the required information for project management is valuable. I've got multiple people accessing it, and I'm tracking tasks with percentages done. It allows me to have detailed notes and provides the ability to attach documents. I have used a lot of project management solutions, and there were gaps in terms of what was available. ServiceNow has got all the features and functionalities. It is a solid solution. It is also easy to get into and use. It is certainly highly scalable.""It enables us to meet SLAs, track issues across the environment, and report those issues.""I like the reporting aspect of it. It helps us know where we stand regarding the types of issues we're receiving... It also shows us trends. That enables us to possibly predict an issue that might come up in the future as well as what is happening right now. We will like that feature. With it, we can either avoid certain issues or know where we need to focus more regarding the service we provide.""It's a very low-code platform, and it's simple. The user experience is also really good."

Cons
"The workflow should be made to be more user-friendly. It should also have more granular scalability.""Hyphens are not allowed in the quick search bar. This has created a problem in our environment where we use hyphens in our asset names.""It would be nice if they added the ability to go directly to a form via a deep link URL.""We need more customizable reporting functionality. We could also use more collaboration of service desk tickets. This will allow for two departments to share the same information, track the progress of the total task scope no matter how complex the request is.""It is pretty clunky and not very intuitive. Even though I have used it for many years, I don't think it is a very good ITSM platform in general. In the telecom space, a lot of telco providers use this solution, but from my perspective, it is not very user friendly. It is a bit more laborious. There are still too many human touchpoints. There can be a little bit more automation. It would also be good to integrate it with other tools. Integration is quite difficult, especially in the telco space.""The mobile version of this product does not support asset management.""It would be better if it were more user-friendly. The reporting part in the version we have is a little complicated. It takes too long to build and report. It would also be better if there were another way to manage notifications.""The pricing could be a little lower and the product should cover more iTel versions."

"ServiceNow doesn't cater to the Middle Eastern market.""For me, there's a real opportunity, especially within the IT Service Management suite, to give a much better overall view of the workflow that individuals have across the different applications. At the moment, a lot of information is quite siloed in the different tables in ServiceNow.""They need to be providing vendors and implementation partners with materials and guidance on implementation.""We are struggling with the scheduling part, but it doesn't necessarily mean that it is a ServiceNow issue. It could be the way we have configured it. We don't have it configured in a way where you can schedule a support call with our end users. We are looking for more automation in the box and the chat feature.""It should enhance its offerings by providing the chance to obtain course certifications at an affordable fee.""Local solutions have lower costs.""The challenge with ServiceNow lies in its expansive portfolio of services. It can be complex, and users may find it expensive and challenging to understand. There is a need for a configurator within ServiceNow that guides users on how to utilize the tool effectively. This configurator should provide insights into licensing, team requirements, and the best licensing model based on whether companies prefer ownership or consumption-based models.""Their GUI could be updated."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Cost was on par with other service desk products, and well below Remedy, while still being a BMC product."
  • "Our costs are well over $250,000."
  • "This solution has good pricing."
  • "The licensing for FootPrints is a perpetual license with an annual support fee."
  • More BMC FootPrints Service Core Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The first impact for the customer is that it is expensive, but do not forget that it is a solution that includes infrastructure; a single cost, easy to justify."
  • "It has a higher cost compared to local/regional solutions."
  • "We know that ServiceNow is not cheap, it's more expensive than other solutions. But we are trying to increase our ability to handle tickets so that the cost per ticket is less."
  • "It's sold as a less expensive solution, but it has to be highly modified. That's where you get into the cost."
  • "ServiceNow pricing is an art, not a science. The deal depends on how commercially savvy you are, which does make it something that is quite difficult to get right. It is most definitely an opportunity area for ServiceNow to improve and have more visibility around pricing of the different products within the platform."
  • "ServiceNow is a leader and its pricing is quite good, quite competitive... Sometimes some plugins are not priced reasonably but, generally, the platform itself, its modules, are priced reasonably."
  • "Isn't pricing always too much? We really do chafe at the ITIL licensing. ITOM is also pretty expensive."
  • "Initially, the licensing model ServiceNow came up with was very good. But now, from a licensing perspective, they are changing their model day by day. It is becoming a bit expensive for customers."
