We performed a comparison between Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Sophos EPP Suite based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."
"Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers."
"The stability is very good."
"It is stable and scalable."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls."
"The setup is pretty simple."
"Automatic scanning and cleaning of viruses is the best and most valuable feature helping this tool to thrive. If any viruses are found, they are cleaned automatically."
"In terms of the installation, ease of use, and user interface, Defender has been great so far."
"We are a Microsoft shop, and Defender is a Microsoft solution that provides some security at a reasonable cost."
"It's one of the best antiviruses on the market."
"The most valuable feature of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is that it is embedded into the Windows system. Additionally, the performance is good and simple to maintain."
"I like that it's easy to deploy because it already comes with Windows 10. Overall, it has all the features that we need. Easy to deploy, comes with updates, and comes with Windows updates. You don't have to really manage or update the signature."
"One of the main features is the solution is very light on resources and we do not have any problems with it."
"I like the process visibility. This ability to visualize how something was executed is valuable, and the fact that Defender ATP is also linked to the threat intelligence that they have is also valuable. So, even if you have something that doesn't have a conventional signature, the fact that you get this strange execution means that you can detect things that are normally not visible."
"It is a scalable platform."
"It is a stable solution. I would rate the stability a ten out of ten."
"The most valuable features of Sophos EPP Suite are the detection capability, machine learning, ransomware protection, and live response."
"The most valuable feature Sophos EPP Suite is that it protects the computer beyond the premise. Whether the user is at home, in the office, or traveling, you are able to apply the policies as the user moves."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten...Scalability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"If you want something simple to work with, Sophos makes it very simple for you to use."
"What I like best about Sophos EPP Suite is that it's a good product. What's nice about it is that after I installed it on my computer, the tool detects and eliminates most of the problems, malware, and vulnerabilities. It works very well and is very efficient because it doesn't use up many resources from my computer. For me, Sophos EPP Suite is the best security and antivirus solution. In terms of its endpoint capabilities, I'm unable to comment on other Sophos security devices, but it seems Sophos EPP Suite has a next-generation firewall feature, though I didn't use it, and it may not be comparable to other next-generation firewalls. My current firewall is a next-generation firewall from Fortinet, and it's the best firewall for me in terms of cost and security, but for endpoint protection, I use Sophos EPP Suite, and it has the best security for my device. The tool is also good for organizations. It's the best tool."
"Sophos EPP Suite's most valuable feature is ease of use."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"The support needs improvement."
"The solution is not stable."
"We've had a lot of false positives; things incorrectly flagged that require manual configuration to allow. Even worse, after we allow a legitimate program, it sometimes gets flagged again after an update. This has caused a lot of extra work for my team."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"From an audit point of view, our auditors would like to have more reports on how things are used, if things go wrong, and how they went wrong. For example, if something got a warning, "Why?" So, we would like more versatility for tracing and reporting. That would improve the product, as long as the user interface doesn't get bogged down."
"Auto recovery is the most important feature that we would need from this solution. For decryption, similar to Malwarebytes, there should be something to be able to recover the data up to the last normal status. Its ability to recover data to the last normal copy must not exceed 5 to 10 minutes."
"The end-user also cannot do some advanced actions on it. It's a little bit complicated for our end-user, so it needs to be simplified."
"The system can always be simplified and have a better integration check. More detailed reports would be good. When it does the integrated check, it just shows if the system is okay but I want to know what happened."
"The solution could be more friendly for end-users, with different type of scans or scheduled scans for it."
"Its detection is not as quick. There should also be more frequent updates."
"Defender could be more secure and stable."
"The solution could use improvement on the interface."
"I would like to have the capability to support legacy operating systems because the majority now don't support Windows XP, and Windows 2000."
"Sophos is lacking in the granularity of optimization, so having more control would be better."
"The solution’s performance could be improved for the end-users."
"Sophos EPP Suite demands significant resources just to operate. For example, it takes up more than 50% of the resources on our laptop to run it. So, even if we buy a laptop i7 and use 50% resources for Sophos, it will cost us more because every computer needs energy. I don't know why or what the exact problem is."
"In the next release, I would like to see the phishing attached included in the firewall."
"The support could be improved. The response times are slow."
"The management console need improvement."
"There could be enhancements made to the DLP."
