We performed a comparison between Oracle Enterprise Manager and Zabbix based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Server Monitoring solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The most valuable features of Oracle Enterprise Manager are the data guide and online monitoring."
"It can also help with capacity planning, sizing, and maximizing overall performance in a large scale environment."
"I mostly use the top events, and look at how the execution is happening on the database; and monitoring the cluster level rates. I even look at the execution plan."
"I have found the uptime of all of our systems to be most valuable with this solution. This is important because we need to guarantee specific uptime and preventive maintenance. We need to know upfront if there are going to be any issues on the database so we can proactively solve those."
"It is the best monitoring tool for Oracle databases."
"Due to the infrastructure's size, the introduction they offer is very, very useful. It helps with an overall understanding of the product."
"Some of the most valuable features are its real-time performance view/dashboard, metric history, real-time monitoring and alerts, as well as quick access to Oracle's tuning and diagnostic options."
"Oracle Enterprise Manager is a scalable solution."
"It's a flexible solution."
"The most valuable feature is monitoring."
"The implementation process is very straightforward."
"It is a great product. The SNMP protocol tracking feature is good. I really like how it tracks SNMP. The alerts are also great."
"I really enjoy network traffic triggers that allow us to check traffic threshold from ISP."
"The most valuable feature is the support for monitoring Cisco switches."
"I like being able to use proxy servers for different locations. The agents are pretty cool. They're easy to roll out. The standard out-of-the-box templates are also pretty easy to use. The integration with other learning products is also good. I have, in the past, used Slack, but we've integrated it with Microsoft Teams. We also use it for SMS with a service called Redcoat. It is very flexible. It does what I need it to do, and my manager is very happy because it doesn't cost anything. We are nearing 4,000 hosts inside Zabbix, and we've got another 6,000 access points to add to it. We've thrown everything at it, and it has managed to keep going. I am very impressed with the tool, and I'd shake their hand very hard if I got to say the compliments to the Zabbix team. They keep improving it and doing refreshes, which is one good thing about it. There is also online information as well as books that you can purchase if you're willing to read enough. There is a lot to pick up, but it is a pretty complete solution."
"There is less computing power needed for scaling."
"RMAN tools need improvement."
"In my opinion, rather than a younger DBA, think the user interface could be improved."
"The solution’s stability could be improved."
"Technical support could be faster."
"I would like to see better pricing."
"The product is pretty comprehensive, but quite resource hungry. This might be due to the majority of the application seemingly being written in Java."
"There's a lot of documentation to go through as a new user."
"The user interface is not very interactive. It needs improvement."
"The event correlation could be better."
"Sometimes, the documentation is a little bit written in Estonia – a country in Europe. The language barrier and translation to English can sometimes make it difficult to understand what they're trying to get at. It's just a language thing."
"The solution needs to add features for finding loopholes or problems and their root causes."
"The product could be more secure and more stable."
"Implementing Zabbix is difficult. I've deployed many solutions over the years, and Zabbix is the hardest to implement. You have to do some development to get it to work with IBM, Micro Focus, or HP products."
"Zabbix is powerful, but it is difficult to understand initially. There are many things that can be improved, but we might not be using Zabbix to its fullest extent. The software has more features than we need."
"There are areas of improvement. The database grows really fast. So, when you install Zabbix, you have to deal with some issues, like the database. We become pretty big very fast."
"It should be easy to modify the front end."
