We performed a comparison between Trend Micro Apex One and Trend Micro Smart Protection based on our users’ reviews in four categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Users feel Trend Micro Apex One is a solid choice. It is very user friendly and easy to implement. Endpoint security with zero-day vulnerability is extremely valuable. Users feel Trend Micro Smart Protection is lacking in monitoring capabilities to stop threats before they break into the network and damage it, making it a less desirable choice.
"This is stable and scalable."
"Forensics is a valuable feature of Fortinet FortiEDR."
"I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks."
"he solution is an anti-malware product that integrates well with other vendor products such as firewalls, SIEM, etc. It captures threat intelligence and gives you better visibility. The product also has sandboxing features."
"NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."
"Fortinet is very user-friendly for customers."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its simplicity."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is that it also protects our smartphones. It's one of the reasons we use Trend Micro specifically."
"Trend Micro has consistently been recognized as a leader for endpoint security on Gartner, which has been our top priority. Based on my personal experience, we encountered fewer ransomware attacks for Trend Micro customers in Sri Lanka."
"The administration through the cloud is valuable."
"The solution gives users peace of mind that, form an endpoint perspective, they are protected once it is installed."
"The scalability works well."
"The stability is good and I like the level of performance I can get."
"As a Japanese company, it doesn't have any restrictions on usage in our country."
"It is very stable. It also has good security capabilities. It is a strong security product for endpoint protection."
"The solution offers good community support."
"From a technology point of view, it is very simple to install, it's not heavy on the endpoint in terms of the amount of processing cycles. It is simple to deploy and the interfaces are easy. You don't need to be a scientist to operate it."
"Apex One is flexible and offers a lot of visibility on the agent."
"Its threat-hunting capabilities and the information about the known threats are the most available features. It can easily catch any threat in our environment."
"Its database is better than most of the endpoint protection solutions."
"Device control works well, and the anti-malware updates are also pretty good. Every two or three weeks, you get updates. The frequency of the release of new definitions is quite good. We had peace of mind."
"One of the advantages for me is that it is very easy to use."
"Detections could be improved."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"Making the portal mobile friendly would be helpful when I am out of office."
"To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced."
"The solution should address emerging threats like SQL injection."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"The SIEM could be improved."
"This product is not very simple and in fact, kind of hard for some people to understand."
"The only drawback to this solution is that it needs different products for different types of clients, and it would be better to have a single agent for all of the products."
"I want the tool to provide the solutions integrated within it to have regular updates. Currently, the solutions integrated with Smart Protection get updates from the cloud. I want to minimize the download from the cloud."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve the false positive with some integrations with other solutions and automated reporting. The reports should allow the user to set up some customer trigger alerts instead of the user having to look at the report manually. Additionally, the responses from sender detection and response feature could improve."
"The solution’s technical support is not very good and could be improved."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve automatic scanning because sometimes it pops up when I am doing my work. It would be helpful to have a feature to have it only automatically scan when the system is on standby mode. I would be able to be more efficient with my work. Additionally, security could improve."
"I'm not sure about the cloud migration part, in terms of whether it is seamless or not."
"The web filtering could be improved."
"The integration could improve in this solution."
"The main thing they need to improve is their reporting functionality and the forensics for their on-premise consult. They do not have very good reporting features or forensic functionality in the on-premise version. They need to improve that."
"The support is slow and has room for improvement."
"The role-based access control needs improvement."
"We had issues with our system integrator who didn't have enough experience with Trend Micro. There aren't many enterprise customers in our country who use Trend Micro on the level that we are using it, so it might be a little too complex for them. Trend Micro is typically used in small companies that do not need all the advanced features that we are looking for. The integrators don't have experience deploying these features. The scope is broad, but Microsoft Defender is simpler."
"The solution could be more proactive by using AI to assess the production landscape and compete with other products."
"Apex One could use some updates to its UI, threat modeling, and insights. I would like to see better integration with helpdesk platforms and more AI-driven features."
"The integration capabilities of the solution could be improved."
