Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"By using its AI & ML capabilities, we have solved many problems for our clients.""There are things that used to take us a lot of time, like manual entries or HR queries, but now that the bots are in place, we are saving a lot of time.""My understanding is that the initial setup is pretty straightforward.""It save us time and provides ROI as a monetary benefit because it reduces FTE, the number of headcount working for a particular project.""Notifications and triggers are especially good.""We have tried several tools in the industry, and we have not been able to automate to the same level as provided by this solution.""Features such as MetaBot and IQ Bot are very advanced and capable as compared to reading PDFs using OCR.""This boosts the customer confidence and experience. When the customer experience increases, obviously sales will increase."

"The initial setup is relatively easy.""Micro Focus UFT One is a great tool and can be used in a variety of ways.""It's simple to set up.""It helps in identifying defects earlier. With manual testing, that 15-day timeline meant there were times when we would find defects on the 11th or 12th day of the cycle, but with automation we are able to run the complete suite within a day and we are able to find the failures. It helps us to provide early feedback.""One advantage of Micro Focus UFT is that it is more compatible with SAP, Desktop ECC SAP, than S/4HANA.""It is a stable solution.""The most valuable feature is that it is fast during test execution, unlike LoadRunner.""The best feature of UFT by far is its compatibility with a large variety of products, tools and technologies. It is currently a challenge to find a single tool on the market besides UFT that will successfully automate tests for so many projects and environments."

Cons
"I would like to see integration better integration with Excel and SAP.""I would like more integration with Microsoft Excel. More screenshots that can be integrated with Excel would help our customers too.""Had we had access to the RPA bots in advance, we would have practiced before fully implementing.""There is an issue with security where users can see the values in the credential vault.""The optical character recognition of various documents and templates, particularly when using the Arabic language, has room for improvement.""IQ Bot should have an easier way to tag the document's source after extracting information from the document. (Which group does the document or a transaction belong to).""With Citrix, we need a dedicated server to work with it. This has become complicated, as it is not easy to pull all the systems together into one place. It would be better if the Automation Anywhere team could make this easy and simple.""There's a loss of overhead on the computing resources in Automation Anywhere. If you have an encrypted bot, the Automation Anywhere software has to read it first, decrypt it, and run it. So there is a potential that, if the logic of the bot isn't good enough, a lot of CPU and memory overload will happen. This is something which Automation Anywhere should look at because it takes a lot of computing resources. I have seen CPUs running at 100 percent."

More Automation Anywhere (AA) Cons →

"Perhaps more coverage as far as different languages go. I'm talking more about object identification.""The artificial intelligence functionality is applicable only on the web, and it should be expanded to cover non-web applications as well.""The scripting language could be improved. They're currently using Visual Basic, but I think that people need something more advanced, like Python or Java.""Sometimes it appears that UFT takes a while to open and sometimes will run slower than expected. Also, UFT uses a lot of memory. On this note, if you are running UFT on a virtual server I would add more RAM memory than the minimum requirements especially when using multiple add-ins. HP is pretty good about coming out with new patches to fix known issues and it pays for the user to check for new patches and updates on a regular basis.""You have to deal with issues such as the firewall and how can the tool talk with the application, i.e., if the application is on a company network and so on. That, of course, is important to figure out.""The solution is expensive.""Sometimes, the results' file size can be intense. I wish it was a little more compact.""They need to reduce the cost because it is pretty high. It's approximately $3,000 per user."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "Pricing is too high for small-scale groups. The Control Room yearly fee is high, making it difficult to break even."
  • "Automation Anywhere is competitive... Pega is somewhat comparable, but Pega also requires a lot more infrastructure and a lot more experience to get up and running."
  • "Automation Anywhere is costlier than the general competition. That is aligned with the share of the market it has."
  • "They're very flexible around pricing and licensing."
  • "They give us a good deal on the licensing because we bundle and customize things. If you ask to get a bulk business deal, you will receive more benefit. If you take other products from the suite, like IQ Bot, you can also receive a deal on the licensing."
  • "We just did a round of price comparison on a global scale and found it's so hard to compare the license prices. But, Automation Anywhere, in general, is on the same price level as the other vendors, a bit lower in some cases."
  • "If you look at the capital expenditure, Automation Anywhere is number two to UiPath. But if you take a long-term view, on a scalable model of a large number of bots coming out, it slowly goes on to become the costliest tool. There is something they can do about that. The capital expenditure goes out right at the point of buying the tool. For Automation Anywhere, I would need to spend $20,000. UiPath can give me something for $6,000, while Blue Prism will come in at $300,000."
  • "It's cheaper than other similar solutions."
  • More Automation Anywhere (AA) Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "It took about five years to break even. UFT is costly."
  • "The licensing and pricing model is confusing."
  • "It's an expensive solution."
  • "For the price of five automation licenses, you simply would not be able to hire five manual testers for two years worth of 24/7 manual testing work on demand."
  • "The price is only $3,000. I don't know how many QA analysts you would have in any given company. Probably no more than five or 10. So if it's a large corporation, it can easily afford $15,000 to $25,000. I don't see that being an issue."
  • "The way the pricing model works is that you pay a whole boatload year one. Then, every year after, it is around half or less. Because instead of paying for the new product, you are just paying for the support and maintenance of it. That is probably one of the biggest things that I hear from most people, even at conferences, "Yeah, I would love to use UFT One, but we don't have a budget for it.""
  • "The pricing fee is good. If someone makes use of the solution once a day for a half hour then the fee will be more expensive. For continuous use and application of the solution to different use cases, the fee is average."
  • "The price is one aspect that could be improved."
