We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"It allows our clients to have the confidence to centrally manage policies for security. It helps them in securing the organization from a technology aspect.""We are a remote company, and the product helps us manage the global endpoints. It helps us natively manage the endpoints in the cloud from anywhere.""I like that it's very good and very simple. I found that we just needed to have a proper subscription for an Intune tenant, and from the subscription, if we have the right role assigned, like the global admin role or the owner role, we can use Microsoft cloud resources. With the help of that, we can do many things like setting up Microsoft Intune in the cloud to create our virtual machines. All these can be done, and the steps are very simple. I really liked it. I like features like Windows Auto-Enrollment. I like it very much because whenever you supply it to the end-user, it will be ready to use immediately. The end-user only needs to provide the user credentials, and then they are good to go. I also really like Cloud PC, which was recently launched on Azure.""It has helped with compliance. It has helped to ensure that devices comply with the organization's policy. If they are not compliant and secure, they cannot access the resources.""The standout features of Intune are its excellent mobile device management and highly effective application management capabilities.""Autopilot is a great feature. Most users are looking for a zero-touch deployment.""A valuable feature is user enrollment, where users can enroll their devices in their organizations themselves.""This product works very well for companies already using the full Microsoft suite."

"The ability to script and create BL packages to perform various functions. This makes automating our environment relatively easy to do.""BMC Bladelogic Automation can be used across many OS platforms, providing us flexibility for deployments.""The best feature of the solution is patch automation.""Among the most valuable features is its flexibility and ability to work across multiple operating systems. Being able to execute some form of data collection and not have to worry about whether I'm working on a Linux box, or a Windows box, or the underlying OS, I can do these collections, get these results, and put them together in a uniform format which makes it easier to present back to management.""Technical support is good.""Scalability is good.""Compliance is also huge... By tying it to Atrium Orchestrator, our workflow tool, we'll be able to have a closed loop where we identify a compliance issue, cut CRs, get them approved, and then be able to execute these CRs and more seamlessly fix these issues on the fly.""The most important feature is the schedulings."

"Puppet Enterprise has good functionalities.""Puppet Enterprise has reduced the time of production changes or environment changes.""Puppet Enterprise is a stable solution.""The versatility is great.""Anything that we manage through Puppet always runs perfectly.""Puppet3 and 4 series provides optimum deployment solutions for infrastructure and applications.""The most valuable features are the agent, high load balancing, and overall robustness and features.""The main purpose for this automation tool would be: deploying, controlling, ordering change for the system and IT Infrastructure."

Cons
"Having a dedicated configuration server that assists in modifying the configuration service, and creating personalized structures, interfaces, and web services could enhance usability.""Intune's third-party patch management could be better. It should be easier for the average system admin to keep non-Microsoft applications updated.""The reports aren't complete, and it's not easy to build custom reports. For example, Windows Autopilot isn't working well in cases where the computers don't have a good internet connection. Then the option is not good enough.""I would like to see the ability to deploy custom packages as a Windows 64-bit package, as opposed to the Windows 32-bit, which is the only one available now.""The installation is very easy. However, to be able to configure it you will need special knowledge, such as training or self-studies to have a proper level of security. There are many settings one has to understand before being able to implement Microsoft Intune.""Integration with Mac devices requires some improvement.""I'm still playing around with it and haven't had any issues with the product yet, but support can definitely be improved.""Some enrollment features could be improved."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"The number of APIs available within the tool needs improvement. At the moment, we have a couple of different scanning tools used within the organization, but only one of those is integrated back into Server Automation. There is another tool that they use in another part of the business where it doesn't have an out-of-the-box adaptor for it. We would have to go and create or develop something bespoke to be able to integrate it with that scanning tool. Whereas, with the other scanning tool, there was an API available. To make it easier, I would like to have more APIs available for different scanning tools within that line of business.""Scaling the environment during setup at larger organizations with 10,000 employees gets complicated.""We've had to increase RAM and CPU processing in order to alleviate some of the sluggishness during patching.""The setup of this suite is very complicated. It needs to be simplified.""BMC TrueSight Server Automation's scripting needs improvement.""TrueSight falls short when we are trying to gather large amounts of data from multiple servers. We need to do these tasks manually because there is no option to populate the data and export it to Excel, which is required. For example, let's say I'm trying to find out how many patches are missing on the servers and which ones have been installed. It's hard to automatically pull each server's data in an Excel format.""Resource management on the base servers is sluggish and could be improved.""Without any knowledge of the product, we used the KB articles to start working. As a result, we definitely did not have full knowledge of BMC BladeLogic... They need to provide a minimum of knowledge with training on YouTube or somewhere else."

More BMC TrueSight Server Automation Cons →

"We would like Puppet to add more integration for applications.""At the beginning the initial setup was kind of complex.""Puppet Enterprise is more complex and difficult to configure.""The solution has really complex code, you have to understand the Ruby language. However, once you know the code then you can move ahead without any problems.""There's a lot of scope for enhancement on the DevSecOps side. They should definitely include features for compliance, for both the Linux and Windows side of the devices, as well as for network devices. Compliance is something they need to work on.""It's a bit of a pain point to make sure that everything works once we've upgraded it because Puppet has been evolving pretty fast.""Puppet Enterprise should improve the general extensibility for places where they can't install it."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."
