Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The product provides a native user experience without requiring users to install additional software or agents.""The ability to give some groups access to different kind of databases with the storage of a password is the most valuable feature.""I like that you can change the password remotely.""Provides us with the ability to control access [to secrets] by groups.""Number one is the password vault; it's very good. Number two, they have a feature for remote desktops that are created on a per session basis, which is very good for security.""We implemented the product for our privileged identities. We have configured them in check-in/check-out rotation. Delinea Secret Server rotates the password each time a privileged identity is checked in, making the password valid only for some time.""It offers the possibility of secure administration of hardware devices, as well as Linux systems administration from a Windows environment.""It works for us."

"Workflow management is an important feature. With other identity management products, there was no workflow management so we had to build it ourselves.""It brings simplicity into complex matters.""The solution does lots of things that we did manually before.""The self-service functionality of One Identity Manager is arguably the most valuable feature.""Even without any customization, if you install it, configure it, it's ready... It's very powerful. Without any customization, it starts working.""The company policies feature is really good because in workflows you can check whether the policies are all working.""We have been able to make our help desk self-sufficient by giving them role-based access. We have been able to reduce service dependency by 40% to 50%.""One Identity Manager connects SAP accounts to employee identities under governance. The connector from One Identity for SAP is the most powerful one in the market. This connector can touch all the levels of the objects in SAP. It can not only be connected to SAP ERP but also to SAP HANA, GRC, etc. One of the strengths of One Identity Manager is the SAP connector. You can touch a lot of the SAP environment and also have deep granularity."

Cons
"In many PAM tools, when users request a password checkout, they need to provide justification. However, in my experience across four organizations, nobody actually reads the justifications. Users can simply type anything and get the password. This becomes a risk and compliance issue. There needs to be continuous improvement in this area, focusing on problem identification and mitigation strategies.""Improvements are needed in session management, behavioral analytics, and the reporting segment.""I think that the main interface should integrate better with non-standard applications and clients, to connect with other systems.""Delinea Secret Server can improve by extending the monitoring policies and making the performance better.""Installation can sometimes be difficult, depending on the environment.""We find the documentation hard to understand.""I formerly used only one service: the remote server. For example, I connected to the Active Directory user and the computer's console. But now, I need to do a remote connection to the domain controller. Maybe it only connects to that tool, the Active Directory users, and the computer management console, but not to the domain controller. Another thing Delinea could add is multi-factor authentication.""There are some things that I know are really important to include like A/B version features which are available in Windows. I would say that they should be included in the road map."

More Delinea Secret Server Cons →

"The product must include SaaS in the future.""[Regarding] their upgrades, we're going to 8.12 right now and everything is running very smoothly but this is actually the first upgrade that has gone off well. Even the other "dots" have taken us six months or longer to get through QA testing.""The customization process should be simplified.""The user experience is good, but it can be improved. There are a lot of features in the administration part, and they need better documentation. For example, they need to explain the main reason for a feature, and what the tables are in the database. It needs better documentation about all the features that are in the solution.""It is a large solution where you need to learn how to work in a certain way for it to provide the best benefit.""I would like to have more advanced features and reporting added to One Identity Manager.""Visually, I would like it to be more user-friendly.""It’s not something you get from the beginning. It’s not like Windows. It is more complicated. You need to know a few things from the back end, however, as you learn it, it becomes easy."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "It isn't terribly expensive."
  • "The price of this solution is good."
  • "The pricing is standard in this business and we have no complaints about it."
  • "Its price is okay. We don't compete on pricing. We seldom use price to win over our competitors. We prefer it this way because if we can sustain the price, we make more margin as well. We don't want the price to go down to the bottom where despite the win, there's no margin at all."
  • "Secret Server is expensive when compared to the cost to some alternatives."
  • "There are different plans and additional licensing costs that can be instituted for add-ons."
  • "There is an annual license fee per user and the price is fair."
  • "They are priced quite well."

  • "Start with an operations team that is motivated to learn a lot in a short period of time. The longer you wait, the more expensive it will be to get the right level of expertise in this area."
  • "There are old processes that are really great for some people and look like pieces of artwork. However, the maintenance of them is really expensive."
  • "The solution is flexible, in general. You can define the parts of the solution that you want to use, and it won't affect the price."
  • "We have the premium support and are very satisfied. They are always answer our questions very quickly. For the moment, we are very satisfied, but I think it's because we are paying for the premium support."
  • "It helps us save on licenses for applications because we are following the account lifecycle, as well as account reactivation."
  • "We are paying for premium support, which is expensive. However, we do receive very good, fast support."
  • "It needs flexibility in the licensing or packaging, because you buy the entire package at once, and sometimes the customers are a bit overwhelmed with whatever they get. I would like if they could cut the licensing or packaging into somewhat smaller things."
  • "It has helped to reduce customer costs."
