We performed a comparison between Dynatrace and NETSCOUT nGeniusONE based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic and others in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Observability."We monitor end-to-end availability of the application and deep dive PurePath analysis of real user visits."
"Data analytics help us to find us issues in the short-term or long-term."
"This solution has helped our organization on multiple occasions. The synthetic monitor came in particularly handy."
"Integration with other tools in company using SNMP traps."
"The best feature of the product for me is the real troubleshooting capability through the PurePath analysis."
"For me the service workflow and the dashboards are the most valuable features, simply because I can know what’s going on in my infrastructure within five minutes, versus two hours."
"The benefit for our company is that we have one direction and one main solution."
"We also use it in our performance testing. We found an issue that way, and we would have put that change live without Dynatrace. Finding that problem in "live", that would have been three or four days of investigation, whereas we found the issue, fixed the issue, reran the tests, all same day."
"The solution helps to troubleshoot and put our hands on the weak points of customer networks."
"It is an easy-to-scale platform."
"It's a consolidated, single tool that talks to multiple platforms. It's not vendor-proprietary; it's independent. It provides interoperability with different products, whether they are routing products, switching products, wireless, wired, load balancing, or proxy. It works with anything you can name."
"Valuable features include data threat detection, network analytics, and overall bandwidth monitoring."
"The packet capture is the most valuable feature for us. It gathers data from the device. In case somebody has a problem, I can go back X amount of time - days, hours - and get the data to do real troubleshooting."
"The speed that you can get from the top of a problem all the way down to the packet layer of troubleshooting analysis."
"Network faults are easily and quickly identified through dashboards and drill down."
"The valuable features include packet analysis, packet capture, and [that] it's easy to use."
"Its needs to focus more on open source areas, like Apache umbrella products and availability motioning areas."
"Another area for improvement is that I would like the alerting to be set up a little bit more easily. Currently, it takes a lot of work to add alerting, especially if you have a large environment, and I consider our environment to be quite large. The alerting takes a lot of administration."
"For AppMon, there is always room for improvement: charting, dashboarding, and user management."
"UEM (User Experience Management) works great for web clients and Android and IOS apps, but for other rich clients it's a lot more challenging."
"If Dynatrace is capturing everything in your application, it has to "sense" that information, and that sensing needs sensors which we have to include in our applications. The more you apply sensors - the more details you want - the more you have to increase the level of sensing. If I increase the level of sensing, my application's performance goes down, because something is there that is, again and again, checking each and every thing in the application. So that load on the applications increases. So, many times my applications used to crash because Dynatrace was working on them. We had to remove some sensing; either we had to reduce the sensing or we had to remove Dynatrace immediately."
"We would like to see more dashboarding capabilities and the ability to export custom reports."
"Dashboarding and having different templates available for more business reporting, or even other metrics, would be useful."
"I would say that this solution's reports are lacking a little bit, and because of this, you have to rely on API to fetch and pull data. I think they could have done a bit of a better job by providing a more user-friendly search from a reporting perspective."
"The scalability needs some work. From a probe perspective, we are limited to a certain amount of throughput on the devices themselves. Without having actual hooks into the bare metal hardware for the solutions, it's a bit of a "thumb in the air" as to when we hit our capacity or when our high watermark is."
"NG1 has been stable for a while in our environment - at least we have what we needed. But with nBA, there's a lot of room for improvement."
"Some help screens would be nice, especially if we bring on new operators. It would be great to see if they have more helpful tips available."
"A lot of tools highlight what's going on but they don't actually pinpoint the user experience. It would be good if there were a small message or something highlighting what the user experience is like and any degradation that's actually occurring."
"Maybe the optics cost could be improved. It's not about the product itself, but the optics cost from other companies is very high, which affects the business. When you buy a $1 million product, you shouldn't be expected to pay $500,000 for support. So, support, operation, and professional services are very expensive. It's the main weakness."
"Some of the filters could be easier to see and to set up. That's the only thing that I've ever had any trouble with."
"Its initial setup process is complicated."
"One of the products we use is SolarWinds, and it provides a very cool mapping of an agent from end-to-end. If NETSCOUT could somehow implement that into their design... make it quicker and easier to get those net paths, it would be huge."
