We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"One of the biggest advantages of Microsoft Intune is that it brings the management of Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, and even Linux under a single pane of glass.""The most valuable feature is the policy CSPs.""As the solution is a software as a service, the scalability is unlimited.""Autopilot is the most valuable feature.""The ability to wipe data from and reset devices is one of the most important and valuable features. If a device is reported stolen, we can freeze it or wipe the data from it, preventing data leakage.""The key benefit of Intune is its integration with the Microsoft ecosystem.""Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly.""One of the standout features of Intune is its seamless accessibility to work data, eliminating the need to be tied to an office or a desktop."

More Microsoft Intune Pros →

"The concept of infrastructure as code is quite intriguing. We have an infrastructure in our code and a state file where we can verify whether something is changed when it was changed, and who changed it. When we use Terraform, these kinds of things fascinate us.""It is the customization of Terraform's modules that I find most valuable.""We frequently need to create and replicate infrastructure from various environments like dev and QA. The QA resources need to be identical to those in the dev environment. With a Terraform script, we can replicate the same 50 in the dev environment to the testing environment. This is tedious to do manually, and Terraform speeds up the process.""The first thing I like about the solution is that it keeps a version of your infrastructure.""The most valuable feature of HashiCorp Terraform is the custom modules.""The state backend, automated describe functionality, modular structures, and variablization using templates are most valuable.""It's very easy to automate functions on the cloud with HashiCorp Terraform. The commands are easy as well.""I like the function that shows me a preview of what is happening in the infrastructure."

More HashiCorp Terraform Pros →

"KACE’s knowledge-based articles are very good.""The ability to build scripts right on the deployment center itself, as well as building groups that take those scripts/task chains has been absolutely invaluable and one of the most important parts of my whole environment.""The most valuable feature of KACE is the mass package deployment. There are a lot of endpoint management solutions in the market. The way KACE responds is with the installation management feature, which is done in a very intelligent way, as well as scripting. It's wow. It's really wow. On top of that, there is a mass undeployment feature as well.""The information available via KACE is up to date, critical to our normal operations, and has become the go-to tool of our IT teams for extended support.""You don't have to be an advanced user. Rather, in terms of ease of use, this product is right where it needs to be.""The service desk can be configured and customized to better serve our environment.""I can reach people now that I couldn't have reached previously. We are saving about 25 percent in time.""We have our KACE agent deployed on all of our workstations and servers, and it provides us with reports on the hardware and software inventory for those."

Cons
"The UI also needs improvements because it is complex for end-users. We have had feedback from a few users in our organization who found the UI is not feasible for tracking and analyzing all the processes and monitoring all the devices.""There's quite a lot of development that they can do within their Intune dashboard. I think there are too many lines hyperlinked to move you around. Others, in contrast, give you a simple dashboard and an intuitive administrative walkthrough.""I know that their AI pieces are at the infancy stage, but allowing users to do more tagging for information would be an interesting thing because Intune also directly integrates with Azure. Because a lot of the devices are hosted with that, you also get a lot of tagging of user data and other things like that.""Intune has some limitations when it comes to application updates for third-party applications. You can schedule an update, but when it's a package setup, you need to supercede and replace it each time.""An issue we have run into with Microsoft Endpoint Manager is that we cannot patch third-party products like Adobe and Chrome with it.""The pricing could be improved.""It would be good if, in addition to the minimal patching and compliance, we could also use Intune for application deployment. For instance, if a device is not patched, Intune should have the ability to push not only a Microsoft patch but also other patches, such as a browser patch.""What would make this product better is adding more security policies and features in the next upgrade."

More Microsoft Intune Cons →

"They have added a feature that helps us to import existing resources to our workspace, but if they can help us to create the code for the import, as well, then it would be a great addition.""When a misconfiguration or drift occurs, fixing the issue can be difficult. For instance, if there is a change in API calls while a script is running, it can be challenging to make corrections. This may require additional review and modifications to the code. I recall an instance where an industry budget creation process was altered, and it took significant time to amend the code. In fact, I had to add five or six different script portions to resolve the issue.""Automation is needed to import everything at once from a manual environment or by a specific resource group.""The state locking functionality can be improved. In certain situations, we have to force-unlock the state, which sometimes does not work. When that happens, we have to manually go to the state backend and remove that particular state, which is kind of a cumbersome process. It should also have more functions, more expressions, and support for more products.""If you are copying something from a well running machine to a remote machine, there are some issues with the current version, but it is acceptable.""They should include tutorials for understanding the use cases.""The product must improve DevOps features.""The integration with this solution needs to be improved."

More HashiCorp Terraform Cons →

"It could be designed a little bit more intuitively in terms of administration.""The labeling process should be more streamlined. It should be easier to do. It gets confusing at times.""I would sure like them to be able to copy and paste out of OneNote. That drives me nuts. You can't copy from OneNote into KACE.""Sometimes the information is not as real time as it's supposed to be.""They could make the booting solution easier for different things, e.g., easier to insert drivers. They could make it easier to create a new image and put it onto the server. Those would be some nice solutions. They could make it so that somebody who has no knowledge at all can do it. That would be really nice. Because every time, until I get it memorized, I still need to go back to the training, the manual, or Google it to figure it out again. If they would make it a lot easier, to where a nine-year-old could do it, that would be really cool. If they made it easier, I could have more people managing the images on the server, instead of just one or two people.""We had issues with the tool's support. We are a Dutch firm and everything has to be in Dutch. We were not able to do the alerts. You were required to tweak them a lot to get them in the language that you preferred. The solution's support depended on the person that you got online. Sometimes, the response was fast and other times you needed to wait a long time. The support also depended on the levels of support that you had requested.""Its dashboard needs improvement. Currently, there is no way to modify the dashboard. There should be more flexibility so that we can create views according to our use case.""Scalability is my primary concern right now."

  • "For Microsoft 365 E5 clients, cost is not an issue as this product is one of the benefits."
  • "The price of Intune is included with the license for Office 365, so we don't have to pay anything extra for it."

  • "It may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for."
  • "It was a very attractive price. This is a huge feature of this product. If you would "credit score" this product versus others out there on the market, this one has a very attractive price."
  • "We need it, so we have to pay the price. It is what it is. If you need a gallon of milk, then you have to pay the price for it. You don't want to buy the cheap stuff. You want to buy the stuff that is organic and good for your body, which doesn't have all this other junk in it. You want it clean for your body. Quest has done that for our deployment and management systems."
  • "Licensing is done on a per device basis, so it's dependent on how many agents you've got installed."
  • "Its pricing model is good for what it offers. Nobody here gives me a hard time about renewing the contract every year. It might be a little cost prohibitive for a smaller company who has to stand up a virtual environment as well as have virtual environment licensing and the hardware. If you have a smaller environment, it might be cost prohibitive. If you only have a couple of hundred computers, you might be more willing to do those manually. In our environment, the cost savings of having KACE far outweigh the licensing costs. We are okay with its pricing model."
  • "We buy consulting fees from Software Factory, then we pay extra for it."
  • "We are a university. So, we have a very good price for the system. I think the price for the system is worth it because of the security patch management. The security patch management is very important for us. The price is very good for KACE SMA, the functionality you get, and the patch management."
  • "We are also saving on the licensing fee, compared to other endpoint management solutions."

    Reviews from Real Users

Microsoft Intune stands out among its competitors for a number of reasons. Two major ones are its ability to secure all devices under its management and the flexibility that the solution offers its users.

A computing services manager notes, "Its security is most valuable. It gives us a way to secure devices, not only those that are steady. We do have a few tablets and other devices, and it is a way for us to secure these devices and manage them. We know they're out there and what's their status. We can manage their life cycle and verify that they're updated properly."

The head of IT engineering at a financial services company writes, "The one feature we find most useful is the Mobile Application Manager. There are two types: we have the complete MDM and the Mobile Application Manager (MAM). We don't give our users phones, it is their own personal phone, and we need to allow them to have access to the company details on their phone. We need to create a balance between their own personal data and the company data. We deploy the Mobile Application Manager for them so that we won't be able to interfere with their own personal data."

HashiCorp Terraform is a powerful configuration management solution that aims to provide users with the ability to maximize the ease with which users can perform their configuration management operations. It makes it so that organizations can reliably configure and manage their infrastructure. Terraform is a tool that transforms every user into an administrator and project collaborator. Businesses that use it have at their command a solution that they can use for the entire lifecycle of their infrastructure.

    HashiCorp Terraform Benefits

Some of the ways that organizations can benefit by choosing to deploy HashiCorp Terraform include:

    • Disaster recovery. Terraform provides users with the ability to prevent a catastrophic loss of infrastructure from taking place. It stores the blueprint for the infrastructure in a centralized state file. This central file contains all of the data, resources, and metadata that make up an organization’s infrastructure setup. If their infrastructure is damaged or destroyed this file can be used to reconstitute the infrastructure as it was before the damage was done. Users need never worry that they will lose their infrastructure.

    • Reduce overhead costs while offering maximum benefit. Terraform is designed so that users can deploy it relatively cheaply while still gaining the maximum level of benefit. It offers users a diverse collection of out-of-the-box modules that users can use and reuse without having to purchase anything else. The solution is also agentless which means that it can be deployed without requiring users to download anything else to make it function.

    • Flexibility. Terraform is highly flexible. It is a totally platform-agnostic solution. It can be used to manage architecture being run on both physical devices and virtual machines. Users who use cloud environments can utilize it just as effectively as those who are working with physical on-premises servers. This enables users to use whatever system they wish without being beholden to any kind of restrictions.

    • Remote operation. Terraform can be remotely operated and managed from anywhere in the world. This empowers organizations to operate internationally without worrying that they will somehow be less effective than if they were working from their headquarters.

    • Self-service infrastructure. Terraform can be operated by many members of an organization. Users can take on some of the responsibilities that would be handled by administrators. They can leverage the ServiceNow Integration to create workspaces, perform Terraform runs, and even order service items. Additionally, users can deploy Configuration Designer to leverage predefined modules in order to handle infrastructure requests themselves.

    HashiCorp Terraform Features

    • Integration suite. Terraform enables users to integrate their systems with it regardless of what kind of infrastructure system they are using. It leverages a wide variety of APIs to empower users to take their workflows and integrate them with Terraform’s powerful management capabilities.

    • Automation tool. Organizations can leverage Terraform to automate a vast variety of features. One example of a feature that administrators can automate is its system update application. Terraform makes it so that the solution itself is charged with applying updates and the like. This ensures that all operations are performed uniformly and in a manner that is consistent with the infrastructure’s configuration. It also guarantees that the possibility of human error need not be considered.

    • Collaboration feature. Terraform Cloud makes it simple for users to share their workflows with colleagues. This enables them to efficiently collaborate on whatever project they are working on. Teams that are authorized to work on a particular project will be able to securely cooperate and accomplish their tasks.

    • Notifications. Terraform offers users the ability to set it so that they receive notifications. The nature of these notifications can vary based on a user’s needs. They can range from notifications about the occurrence of particular events to progress reports concerning operations that the user is running.

    • Security suite. Terraform comes with a suite of security capabilities that aim to keep users and their infrastructures from being harmed by digital threats. One such capability is a feature that auto-generates short-lived security credentials. This prevents access codes from being leaked or stolen by hackers. The credentials last for a specified period of time and are then deleted from the system. When new credentials are needed they will once again generate a set for the user in question.

    Reviews from Real Users

HashiCorp Terraform is a highly effective solution that stands out when compared to many of its competitors. Two significant advantages it offers are its ability to help users create deployment pipelines that make the deployment process simple and its ability to recover infrastructure fully should something delete or damage it.

Patryk G., the chief technology officer at Translucent Computing Inc, writes, “Furthermore, Terraform enables the creation of a deployment pipeline using tools, such as Atlantis, which automates the process of scanning and deploying the code. This streamlines the deployment process and adds features, such as auditing, risk management, and security scanning to the deployment process. Terraform provides a more organized and secure way of managing infrastructure, compared to the traditional ad-hoc method.”

Rakib M., the chief technology and strategy officer at the White House, says, “One of the other major features of terraform is its ability to act as a Disaster Recovery tool. Since terraform is an Infrastructure-As-A-Service tool, it can be used as part of the rest of the DR toolset to restore affected infrastructure to its original state without any variation.”

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by PeerSpot users currently using the Quest KACE Systems Management solution.

Tim H., Laboringenieur, Computeringenieur at HTW Berlin, says, "The scripting part increases IT productivity because of the specialized software in our environments for students' courses. You need to use software which is not programmed by developers. A lot of software for building houses or other things is developed by normal guys, who do not have much skill in programming. When you need to install this type of software, it is very difficult. You have to install registry keys, etc. For that, it is very good to use the scripting part of this solution. So, you can automate this part as well."

Chris H., Director of IT at CCOF, mentions, "The big pros of Quest KACE Systems Management are its simple interface, and simple, direct management. It's very easy to maintain and manage the device, and it's easy to get it up and running. You can have it up and running in an hour."
