We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"What I really like about this program, is that it is easy to use and easy to configurate.""It is very easy to install and configure. It has got excellent diagnostics. If you really need to see how the box is performing, the console gives you a lot of information. You can set thresholds as well as alerts based on the thresholds, which is a very powerful functionality. They are very proactive. They know how to monitor and manage the systems. They see a problem, and they are all over it before us. They see the problem before we see it, which is very good.""It has good, reliable, fast storage.""The latency is good.""The initial setup was extremely simple and straightforward.""Overall stability is very good. It is a very stable solution.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe helps to improve our processing speed. It is user-friendly and easy to use.""FlashArray has some fresh efficiency features. I've never seen a storage solution with a compression rating this high before. It's at least 4-to-1 on Oracle databases. It's the best flash storage for Oracle."

"The performance is very good.""Our customers have given very positive feedback about InfoSign, which is the management software for this solution.""For over a year, I have not seen any downtime in the product.""It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution.""The initial setup is simple.""Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten.""It is stable and reliable.""There has been a lot of changes in HPE Primera OS, and most of the time any package related to it is simple to upgrade. It does not require any support for the operation. The customer can easily deploy any code directly from the GUI which is very good. Additionally, we have individual storage we can allocate and easily manage."

"The most valuable feature is the availability.""It is a highly available product.""Huawei OceanStor is designed with built-in high availability features, such as fault tolerance, ensuring consistent data access and minimizing downtime.""The most valuable feature of Huawei OceanStor is the hybrid applications.""The solution is easy to scale as needed.""This is a stable storage system.""The solution is easy to use.""The setup and the price are the most valuable and not the features related."

Cons
"In the future, I would like to see integration with enterprise backup systems.""You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me.""If the customer only needs 500 terabytes and doesn't care how much data they'll put in the server, IBM is cheaper than Pure.""We've seen that when we create a POD in synchronous mode, it increases the latency.""The tool's portfolio is minimal. It is expensive.""There is room for improvement in catering to midrange storage needs, especially for customers seeking Enterprise-class features.""Efficiency improvements would always be welcome, but I'm not sure if they could get more efficient.""Our use cases require more multi-tenant capabilities and additional VLAN interfaces for separating different customers. We currently use it to provide storage, sometimes shared storage, to different customers, but it is less flexible in comparison to a dedicated solution."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"The cost of HPE Primera could be lower.""There really isn't any aspect of the solution that needs improvement for the customer other than its price.""We've encountered issues in the past where maintaining a read-only state is essential to prevent data encryption when VPN access is impacted.""The product's stale snapshots feature needs improvement.""The interface needs to be more user-friendly in that sense that installation and management are still a bit on the high end.""The solution could prove the reporting.""HPE Primera is not good enough as a storage solution as it does not provide a good NAS storage.""Price is always important in Turkey, so HPE could lower the price to keep it competitive. It's not as competitive as other solutions in this market."

More HPE Primera Cons →

"The upgrading process needs improvement. Deploy it and notify the customers when new versions and stuff comes out. I don't think they're doing that well.""The main concern is regarding the usability of the data storage.""The solution’s reporting could be improved.""The administration should be simplified because there are a large number of options that make it too complicated, and the customers can get confused.""The overall price of the solution should be reduced.""We did experience a little latency with this solution.""The security could be a bit more robust.""Huawei is not that cheap."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "From what I see, this is competitively-priced and HPE are doing their best to stay competitive."
  • "The price to capacity ratio is good."
  • "It is basically in the mid-range of the price. It is not cheaper than Hitachi, but it is cheaper than Pure Storage. There are no additional costs. Everything was taken care of in the price."
  • "Licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis and the cost of GreenLake service is included."
  • "I believe HPE Primera and Pure Storage are similar in price."
  • "There is only a one-time license purchase needed and no additional costs. If HP could reduce the training cost, then that would be advantageous to the seller."
  • "The price of HPE Primera could improve, it is expensive."

  • "This product value matches its price."
  • "It's roughly affordable."
  • "Pricing is very fair."
