We performed a comparison between OpenText ProVision and Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Enterprise Architecture Management solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."OpenText ProVision's best feature is the capability to attach a variety of attributes and extract and analyze that information."
"The stability of the product is very good."
"All the features come as part of a standard license."
"There are a lot of features in Enterprise Architect. It allows us to take on a lot of tasks."
"The profiles allow me to customize the tool to the corporate environment instead of the other way around saving huge amounts of time and energy on trying to turn dozens of individuals into TOGAF, ArchiMate or Zachman experts, or even Sparx EA experts."
"Sparx Systems Enterprise Architect supports multiple modeling languages like ArchiMate for database design, software lifecycle visualization, and team management."
"Large variety of profiles and frameworks available out-of-the-box without the need for customization."
"Artifact templates are most valuable."
"I like that there is support for software patterns."
"Its traversability is most valuable. I can use ArchiMate, and I can create a UML model. ArchiMate is for logical enterprise architecture, UML is for software engineering, and BPMN is for business processes. I can build it to have multiple models, and they are also traversable, which is not something that every tool allows. If there is a huge organization, you can segment it and have separate models for business technology or internal resource management system. You don't need to keep them in one model, and you can decide to segregate them."
"The system provides powerful tools for obtaining reports and documentation."
"Lacks the ability to have your own in-house developments."
"Integrating with or interfacing with other tools like data management tools would be very helpful."
"OpenText ProVision's collaboration management is quite complicated and difficult to use."
"More challenging than other tools to maintain documents and document versions for an architecture board review."
"The modeling tool is targeted toward a sophisticated user."
"It really did not work for logical modeling. The look is very old-fashioned. You can't make the diagrams easy on the eye, so we ended up drawing them again in Visio anyhow."
"I struggled with most of the features for this tool, as did the rest of our architecture team."
"Weak in regards to data modelling. No logical or physical modelling or migration from conceptual to physical."
"For data modeling, it is not very mature when comparing with other data modeling tools."
"I think that collaboration can be better."
"Because its easy to create diagrams one needs to be vigilant on the housekeeping of orphaned fragments - I have written my own scripts to do this, maybe they are available now."
