We performed a comparison between Sophos EPP Suite and ThreatLocker Protect based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"The price is low and quite competitive with others."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"It is very easy to set up. I would rate my experience with the initial setup a ten out of ten, with ten being very easy to set up."
"The main thing is that I feel safe. Because the processes that have been used to get a handle on the attackers are much better than other competitors"
"It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"The stability is very good."
"The most valuable feature is the central administration and management."
"The solution is useful for security purposes."
"With Sophos, the scanning of viruses and scanning of the disk is done silently in the background."
"The product is stable and has a user-friendly dashboard. It has good security features."
"Synchronized security is a great feature. My firewall knows exactly what is happening in my endpoint."
"It's very simple to use. The managing of the endpoints is very easy."
"If you want something simple to work with, Sophos makes it very simple for you to use."
"Sophos EPP Suite has the capability to stop infections from spreading around the internal network even after the problems have infiltrated it."
"The biggest improvement has been knowing that something unauthorized isn't going to get installed on anyone’s machines."
"The most valuable feature is selective elevation, which allows elevating an individual process to admin privilege without granting admin privilege to that user, which has been by far the most useful feature outside of the overall solution itself."
"Feature-wise, the learning mode and the fact that it's blocking everything are the most valuable. I don't see why more companies don't use the type of product."
"The interface is clean and well-organized, making it simple to navigate and find what we need."
"We use ThreatLocker's Allowlisting to whitelist specific applications and prevent unauthorized software from running."
"ThreatLocker Allowlisting has all of these features integrated into one console, making it effective."
"Every single feature has been invaluable."
"The most valuable feature is probably the ability to block programs from running. ThreatLocker has some built-in features that make it super easy. You can also contact their support within the program. If you're having issues, you can click on that button and connect with someone in five to 10 seconds."
"Intelligence aspects need improvement"
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments."
"It takes about two business days for initial support, which is too slow in urgent situations."
"The dashboard isn't easy to access and manage."
"Once, we had an event that was locked and blocked, but information about it came to us two or three days later."
"Detections could be improved."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"We have to use additional third-party solutions to fill the gaps in the capabilities of Sophos EPP Suite, such as using a mobility scanner. It would be helpful to add this feature."
"The solution needs to perform better or update its anti-ransomware and anti-malware engines to keep up with the latest hacking techniques."
"The update part is a bit tricky in the solution...The support is not that good."
"The user interface is not responsive."
"The logging issues must be fixed."
"The product's filtering and stability can be better."
"Sophos is lacking in the granularity of optimization, so having more control would be better."
"There could be an equipment inventory feature for the solution."
"ThreatLocker Allowlisting needs to improve its user interface and overall workflow."
"If you have a thousand computers with ThreatLocker agents on them, when you approve or create a new policy saying that Adobe Reader that matches this hashtag and meets certain criteria is allowed to be installed, it applies at the top level or the organization level. It applies to every computer in the company. When you make that new policy and push it out and it goes out and updates all of the clients. Unfortunately, at this time, it does not look like they stagger the push-out."
"We identified several areas that we would like to see improved."
"From a reporting perspective, enhancing the ability to customize reports would be beneficial."
"There are some times when applications get submitted, the hashes don't really line up."
"The portal can be a little overwhelming at times from an administration point of view. It displays a lot of information, and it's all useful. However, sometimes there is too much on the screen to sift through, especially if you're trying to diagnose a client's problem with a piece of software. Maybe something has stopped working since they updated it, and we need to see if ThreatLocker is blocking a component of that software."
"The snapshots used in the ThreatLocker University portal are outdated snippets and have not been updated in conjunction with the portal itself."
"Something we have come up against a couple of times is that we have two clients that are software developers. They create software that doesn't have digital signatures and that's not easy to categorize or whitelist with ThreatLocker. We have to go in and make custom rules to allow them to do their work and to be protected from malicious threats."
