Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great.""The solution was relatively easy to deploy.""It is stable and scalable.""The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other.""Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.""The product detects and blocks threats and is more proactive than firewalls.""The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.""The price is low and quite competitive with others."

"It's good at detecting signature-based stuff and stopping that.""The solution is easy to use""It is a scalable product and is average stability-wise.""It's a good proxy to control the user's access to the website.""Symantec has cloud-based endpoint protection, so whether a user is off the network or on the network, the endpoint will be protected by the cloud.""The application and device control functionality is good. We are able to see which applications are installed using the product management dashboard.""The most valuable feature is the virus and malware detection capability.""The valuable features are device control, SONOR, and anti-virus."

"I like that Webroot is very lightweight. It didn't bog down the machine, and more importantly, it had heuristics artificial intelligence to some degree. It wasn't like full-blown artificial intelligence, but something where you have one endpoint recognizing issues because it maintains a cloud database. If one client recognizes a threat, it would add it to the database, and almost immediately, every agent in the world would also know about that threat. That was very appealing to us. However, now it's becoming commonplace, whereas ventures like Symantec and McAfee were based more on the traditional model of definition and updates, and we were always falling behind. Webroot also has pretty good technical support.""It is pretty unintrusive. It doesn't take over the system like McAfee or Norton. It doesn't use a whole lot of resources. McAfee and Norton use a lot of resources.""The ease of use of the centralized admin console is its best asset.""We've not had any issues with scalability. If an organization needs to expand, they can do so quite easily.""Probably, compared to other antivirus programs, what we like about it is it is lightweight.""It monitors traffic and keeps us from getting ransomware or other viruses.""The Webroot cloud console is very powerful.""Valuable features include good scanning, very light footprint and management console that the client can access and (just as important) in which I can see status of groups of computers (I am a consultant, IT role)."

Cons
"The solution is not user-friendly.""FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting.""We find the solution to be a bit expensive.""There's room for improvement in the quick response time and technical support for integration issues, especially when dealing with multiple vendors.""We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments.""The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs.""The SIEM could be improved.""To improve Fortinet, we need to see more features and technology areas at the endpoint level introduced."

More Fortinet FortiEDR Cons →

"It would be helpful if this product provided patch management functionality."",""It would be nice to have customized reports integrated on the main console with no additional DB server or BI server.""Since the acquisition by Broadcom, we are no longer receiving the proper support.""It needs to die. In my opinion, Symantec was a really great security company, 10, 15 years ago. They went out, they bought all the great tools and then they never did anything with them. So they've just fallen behind and there's nothing that's going to work now to bring them back up the date that's going to regain user confidence.""The stability was not the best. There were times when antivirus updates broke it. It wasn't necessarily self-updating - at least, not in terms of the virus signatures. It updated in terms of the executable files. Therefore, when Windows updates would come out, they often couldn't be installed, or the computer would hang due to the fact that the updates weren't compatible with the antivirus.""The artificial intelligence of Symantec End-User Endpoint Security could be better.""The Centralized Management could be improved."

More Symantec Endpoint Security Cons →

"I believe that Webroot Business Endpoint Protection should offer a more modern UI.""It needs to improve the problems with the faster connection, and have a huge reduction in false positives.""It would be great if there was a feature which would allow you to scan an individual file on an endpoint user's computer.""Since they're dealing with multi-core environments now, the best option would be for them to enhance the product so that the product can automatically do an assessment on the machine.""The solution could improve by providing better ransomware protection.""The console spins up relatively slowly, and some of the configuration items are obscure (e.g., reporting back one time per day is a default setting) and need to be tweaked.""I did notice that my OS slowed down, but I don't know if that's due to Webroot.""We need to have a stronger defense against CryptoLock and other attackers."

  • "I can't recall the exact pricing, but I believe there is a monthly fee of $20-30 per user."
  • "The solution is pretty cheap, actually. At our level, which is at 2,500 endpoints, we're paying 87 cents an agent per month."
  • "The solution doesn't cost too much. It's about 30 Euros a year for each endpoint. It's pretty affordable for us and for many other companies."

    Reviews from Real Users

Below are some reviews and helpful feedback written by Fortinet FortiEDR users.

An Owner at a security firm says, "The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers. The customer has literally about 800 cash registers. That was the use case for Fortinet FortiEDR - to get that down into a tiny space. The only way to do that was to use this product because it had that ability to unbundle services that were a surplus.”

Chandan M., Chief Technical Officer at Provision Technologies LLP, mentions, “The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration.” He also adds, “The security is also very good and the firewall response is good.”

Harpreet S., Information Technology Support Specialist at Chemtrade Logistics, explains, "It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."

DeAndre V., Senior Network Administrator at a financial services firm, states, “The dashboard is easy to follow and use. The deployment and uninstalling were easy. I like the detailed information about the path of a file that might be suspicious. Being able to check that out was easy to follow. Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance.
