We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Dynatrace has great training available. It is easy for everybody to use. Anybody can go out to YouTube, watch a video, and figure out how to use the piece that they need.""It seems to be very stable. We have not had any outages attributed to the product.""Triggering gives us warning that system is getting slow and we need to nail down the issue soon, so it does not impact our business.""Support was very quick to help us identify a problem and fix it immediately""The autodiscovery of service intercommunication has saved countless man hours and is dynamically updated when new services are added.""It is very easy to create customized dashboards.""The view it provides for default analysis is very nice. The way in which it showcases how the metrics have been captured and how lucidly that they are displayed. This is a good thing to have from a technical and non-technical perspective.""Service discovery with artificial intelligence automatic anomaly root cause detection, and problems replay."

"Very easy to implement.""Real User Monitor has improved our productivity.""The technical support is good at resolving issues.""The reporting feature is good for us.""The most valuable feature is application performance monitoring.""The Real User Monitor, with its transaction and synthetic transaction monitoring, is the typical classic in APM cases when the customer would like to do transaction monitoring. Micro Focus scores better where the underlying infrastructure management is also covered by Micro Focus tools.""The most useful feature of this solution is tracking. When the application's traffic has been monitored it is taken from that particular application and analyzed. It is then given a live session of that particular user. For example, if you are using your bank application to do some kind of transaction, everything that you do can be tracked by that application."

Cons
"With Linux or Windows, it automatically takes care of everything, so there's no need for you to do any manual config changes. But when it comes to AIX - because I implemented it two weeks back - you have to go back to kind of an AppMon approach, where you instrument agents for .NET applications. So if Dynatrace could make those changes and make it automated, that would be one of the biggest action items.""The products or company go through a rebrand/renaming about once a year, which creates some confusion with our customers.""Needs support for more technologies.""The functionality needs improvement.""We called support mostly about implementation issues. Docker was one which was early on and the support structure for Dynatrace. Typically, they were trying to help us figure out third-party applications and where the monitoring agent should be located.""While designing the business dashboard, I encountered various bugs that impacted my work.""It could improve its GUI interface. The GUI design is too crowded and the icons are small. Sometimes I end up clicking on the wrong button.""I do know that for the size of our organization, we're talking thousands of agents and hundreds of applications, it does get to the point where the servers themselves that house Dynatrace are at a point where, in some cases, they are just too big for one machine, since you have to have an entire application ecosystem all funnel into a single system."

More Dynatrace Cons →

"Everybody is moving away from traffic and installing agents on the application to do the job, but Micro Focus is using traditional ways to collect the traffic. They should change their architecture completely.""This technology is considered to be older.""Real User Monitor needs to cover more protocols to provide more in-depth information. It could also be better at monitoring voice-related traffic. There is currently no visibility in that channel.""Some issues with login errors.""One area to improve is the user interface, of course. The second one is their R&D has virtually stopped building a product roadmap.""When we want to monitor our encrypted traffic, this product doesn't work because our cipher is not supported.""We would like to see support for non-Windows environments."

  • "Product pricing can seem a little over complex, however this is minor and does not detract from the benefits of the solution."

  • "Price (of the product) is a major concern for all the clients I work with."

    Reviews from Real Users

Dynatrace is the only solution that provides answers to organizations based on deep insight into each user, transaction, and organization's environment.

Barry P., a managing performance engineer at Medica Health Plans, writes, "With Dynatrace, we have synthetic checks and real-user monitoring of all of our websites, places where members and providers can interact with us over the web. We monitor the response times of those with Dynatrace, and it's all integrated into one place."

A consultant at a tech service company notes, "A feature that's one of the highlights of Dynatrace is the AI. The second most valuable feature is OneAgent. Between infrastructures, applications, operating systems, you can deploy with just a single agent and can practically install and forget about it."

Real User Monitoring (RUM) an End user monitoring that gives you visibility into user behavior for fast, targeted problem resolution. It monitors the performance and availability of business-critical application services for all users at all locations all the time. It automatically discovers underlying infrastructure and classifies user actions - giving you instant visibility into session and whole service health over web, cloud, and mobile user experience. It allows you to trace user experience across tiers, capture live sessions, see where customers clicked, measure response times, and see pages that caused problems. And you can easily capture and replay user sessions to create test scripts that reflect real user behavior. All this data gives you new ability to analyze which application transactions your users are performing and what application response they are experiencing. RUM currently supports over 20 application protocols and applications such as SAP, Citrix, and native mobile application monitoring on Android.
