We performed a comparison between Dynatrace and WhatsUp Gold based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Dynatrace is the preferred choice over WhatsUp Gold due to its advanced features such as real user monitoring, session replay, and synthetic monitoring functionalities, as well as AI capabilities for automating incident alerts and the Kubernetes module for topology visualization. Additionally, Dynatrace provides good visibility and thorough scanning of services and applications with the ability to drill down and analyze traffic. Although WhatsUp Gold is stable and cost-effective, it lacks some of the advanced features and capabilities of Dynatrace.
"It has been doing a good job of alerting us to issues. It has been very helpful and effective at identifying how we can do things to make our infrastructure and application a little better."
"Of the entire stack, DC RUM and DT SaaS are definitely the most asked for in our offering catalog."
"Being able to drill down into the PurePaths to get to a solution is key for us."
"The dashboard customization based on the performance metric requirement is one of the most exciting features."
"Being able to identify the blind spots. Before, we had lots of monitoring, but it was all very manual. You only monitor what you know about. As soon as we put Dynatrace in, it sprung to life, and we identified problems instantly."
"From a diagnosing standpoint, it has been a game changer. Before, we did not have monitoring, so anytime there was an issue, it was just guess-and-check."
"Some of the troubleshooting features for development, the PurePath technology in AppMon, are valuable. The dashboarding gives us some good insight into some fluctuations in some of the application areas."
"Whether it is the server, database, network, or application, Dynatrace provides a consistent unambiguous view of performance."
"WhatsUp Gold is very easy to deploy."
"The installation and configuration process are easy."
"NetFlow monitoring, real-time monitoring, and surveys have been the most valuable features for our business."
"It is easy to access and discover devices, as well as monitor them automatically. The topology discover is also a useful feature."
"The most valuable features are network bandwidth monitoring and monitoring device health."
"It is stable."
"The threshold alerting is the most valuable feature."
"I use it on premises to monitor my network database. We monitor the link up/down and use the SNMP traps as well."
"Setting up the thresholds and alerting, it is complicated to understand their use cases."
"Richer, deeper partner channel: It needs to expand and deepen the business use cases, where their solutions can help."
"One of the features that we are lacking is on the reports side. We don't have much reporting available. And the dashboards. I checked on their blog and they said that they are working on the dashboard front where you can create the dashboards. We do have dashboards available. They said they are bringing in a lot of things there, so I'm looking forward to that, on reports."
"It needs .NET core support to the level of Java."
"In regards to Diffie-Hellman encryption stuff, it is a hurdle with what we are doing with DC RUM, where everyone is embracing stronger security suites, but the whole point of DC RUM is to get that data between the tiers."
"Dashboarding and having different templates available for more business reporting, or even other metrics, would be useful."
"Make sure older frameworks, like PHP 5.3, are supported."
"There are some bugs in it. Sometimes things get hung just for second, and you have to refresh something. Also, they aren't necessarily intuitive, but to me, they're just going to get better over time."
"I think there are a few bugs now. Although they give some resolution for this, we cannot share the network remotely because of our company policy."
"The initial setup of WhatsUp Gold is a medium range of difficulty levels. However, if it is your first time it could be difficult."
"I would like to see better integration with switches so that you can see what is connected to each port, what the traffic is, and have a network map automatically generated."
"Users want SMS available via Whatsapp Gold. They don't want to go through third party SMS servers. The solution should work to make this possible."
"WhatsUp Gold should work on real-time monitoring and configuration management. If they succeed in doing this, the solution will cover all the network troubleshooting aspects and will be a benefit."
"The technical support does not bother to respond."
"I might like to see a better interface in the future."
"The point system is not clear and clarity around this would improve our understanding of the system."
