Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The transcription feature is great.""I use the solution to chat with my team.""The conversation capabilities and document management are the solution's most valuable features.""One of the most valuable aspects is the ability to record sessions on Teams, which is a beneficial feature.""I like the solution's chat and meeting feature. We have different teams and the product helps us to communicate fastly. Within five minutes all the teams can be on the same page.""It’s very easy to set up. It doesn't take that long.""The tool's integration with OneNote and Power BI is good. The current version of Microsoft Teams is significantly more user-friendly compared to previous versions. I find it easy to handle any user needs and provide assistance. The device installation process is straightforward, and configuring it for users is not complicated. This seamless and user-friendly experience makes it easy to connect with everyone.""Microsoft Teams can facilitate the broadcast of information and distribution of tasks through a single platform."

"Groups is the most valuable feature in Yammer.""Yammer brings in the most relevant posts to the users.""The most valuable feature of this solution is the communication events.""The integration with Teams is the biggest value for us. In fact, it has only become more valuable now that it has integration with Teams. Teams allows you to stream, so that's good.""Valuable features include the integration with Microsoft Office and the fact that it is in the cloud. Also, it's quite easy to use.""The product's initial setup phase was straightforward.""It's really easy to use the solution.""I find it quite simple and intuitive. It's similar to using a more user-friendly interface for SharePoint. It integrates seamlessly with the browser, so you hardly notice you're using it."

Cons
"The solution needs to have subtitles.""The main issue is that the link goes down when there are internet issues.""Microsoft Teams is quite demanding on bandwidth, which has been a problem during the COVID situation because we don't get enterprise-class bandwidth at home.""The product should improve its security aspect, scalability, stability, and screen recording. It would be nice if Teams could come up with a feature where I can write chats and send them as mail. It would be also good if Teams could be connected to our application software so that for any doubts that can occur during the training, the operator can resolve them through chats. Hence, they can easily guide and close the issue.""The solution's recording could be improved because it is not as good as other products.""It consumes a high amount of system memory.""It's not as easy to augment your meetings as it is with competitors. For example, in Zoom, if I want to add attendees, I just grab the meeting link and post it to them. With Teams, how to do this is not as clear.""Microsoft Teams can start being more interactive and intuitive by implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning."

More Microsoft Teams Cons →

"It should have integration with multiple third-party platforms.""The way you want to control the communication could be an issue. It depends on what kind of company you are. We are a public company, and there are some regulations that we need to comply with. Its ease of use can be an issue for a company because anybody can subscribe and use it. There are many competitors that are overlapping. Since Microsoft bought Yammer, it tends to be in the shadow. It is not put in the front from the service perspective.""Microsoft should work on templating and provide some built-in templates so that the changes can automatically roll out to all the configured communities.""The interface is clunky and could be improved.""This solution would be improved if it was well integrated with other communication applications.""The solution must be able to stream by itself, without integration, the same way that you are able to do it on Facebook Live, Instagram, etc. Streaming must be embedded into it.""Yammer's UX and UI are areas with certain shortcomings where improvements are required""Sometimes, we lose access to the solution for unknown reasons."

There are several discussions on SharePoint’s social strategy going on at the moment. I had some great discussions with my MVP mate Adis during Summit last week. Since #SPC12 almost every SharePoint addicted developer, it-pro, power user has reviewed Yammer. If you don’t know what Yammer is, here a short introduction. Yammer is an enterprise social network, which allows you and your coworkers to communicate in a modern way as on Facebook. The huge difference between Facebook and Yammer is, Yammer is private. That means only people from your organization or the people you’ve invited to join your network can see and take part of the conversation which is going on in your Yammer network. With the common understanding of Yammer, you should be able to follow up the ongoing discussions. Adis wrote a great post, summarizing his thoughts on SharePoint and Yammer integration and the upcoming social future. I totally agree with Adis, there are a lot of things missing at the moment. But here my thoughts on Yammer vs. SPSocial Leak of integration In my eyes there is still too much missing, of course you can integrate yammer into your SharePoint, but key features are missing such as SSO, seamless look ‘n feel integration. Prebuild views on Yammer depending on the current SharePoint context or the mobile story. Microsoft shipped mobile Apps for SharePoint 2013 OnDemand and OnPrem. AFAIK are these apps currently available in preview, but each of them is based on SPSocial. SharePoint… Read more →
