We performed a comparison between Barracuda Web Application Firewall and Cloudflare based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Web Application Firewall (WAF) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."There is no one special feature, but the WAF itself is valuable: user-friendly protection against web attacks etc., authentication, reporting, accountability, alerting, and hardened OS."
"The installation is straightforward."
"Barracuda Web Application Firewall provides optimized performance, a user-friendly environment, helpful dashboards, and is simple to use."
"The solution is user-friendly and easy to set up."
"Even when we were upgrading to a new OS, we didn't have any difficulties with the product. The stability is good."
"The product has fantastic support services."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the simplicity of configuration."
"The solution offers multiple security features. There are machine learning features and great URL encryption. It also offers multi-protocol support against DDoS attacks."
"The UI is good."
"Cloudflare offers CDN and DDoS protection. We have the front end, API, and database in how you structure applications."
"The simplicity of the overall dashboard makes it a great product for a user like me who has less understanding of the internet than a developer or other more technical people. It gives me peace of mind. I also love the easy customization of the Page Rules."
"From what I've seen so far, there are no negatives to report as of yet"
"The solution provides good load balancing and protection against DDoS attacks."
"The most valuable feature is the web application firewall."
"Centralized, full-featured DNS."
"Cloudflare has many features."
"This product could easily progress to be among the industry leaders. I think they need to improve enterprise level automation. It integrates with a small number of vulnerability scanners, so report results should be imported manually; same for SIEM integration."
"I have found F5 more stable than Barracuda Web Application Firewall. They should improve the stability."
"I would suggest that someone implementing this product is knowledgeable in the IT field, and with the network needs. It is complex."
"Barracuda Web Application Firewall's load balancing feature could be improved."
"I would like to see an improved capacity to store logs so that they will be available for a longer time."
"If you know nothing about networks, then you can't set it up."
"The GUI needs to be improved because it sometimes hangs and needs to be restarted."
"While the UI is good, it can get a little bit complicated."
"We are a product integrator and reseller, and we would like to have a better partner relationship, similar to a channel sales relationship. Sometimes we are on our own or get diverted by Cloudflare because they have direct sales, which competes with us and makes it difficult to build a relationship with this company since we want to be an MSP or a managed service provider for the solution."
"Cloudflare does not have an on-premise solution. If they had different approaches they could be better suited to accommodate more customers, such as on-premise and hybrid deployments. For example, hybrid deployments would be useful where you could move the traffic from the enterprise to the cloud."
"Although I think it's quite good, it doesn't provide me with all the features I would expect to have if I were using Imperva."
"Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to buy Cloudflare in my country."
"I think the APIs are a little bit hard for us to work with. The APIs could be more open so that we could integrate better with our SolarWinds or our monitoring solution."
"It should be easier to collect the logs with companies like Sumo. However, based on my discussions with the salespeople, I understand that's how they make their money. With the enterprise product, they want people doing those kinds of enterprise features to do the logging. They want them to pay a lot of money, and that's where I have an issue with them. That should be a default. You should be able to get the log no matter what. The logging should be universal."
"There are some issues with the CDN services."
"One area of improvement is in the Access Rules. Hypothetically, if we wanted to block or challenge traffic outside of the United States, the only way to currently do that (as far as I know) is to enter every single country outside of the United States. That could be a labor intensive job. A solution could be to enable users to create a rule where traffic is only allowed within a certain country."
