We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable features of Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its superior performance compared to other flash tiers, as well as its ease of use, with an intuitive user interface that is simple to deploy and use.""Technical support has been helpful and responsive.""FlashArray has some fresh efficiency features. I've never seen a storage solution with a compression rating this high before. It's at least 4-to-1 on Oracle databases. It's the best flash storage for Oracle.""The most valuable features of this solution are its ease of use and performance.""It has good, reliable, fast storage.""The most valuable feature of this solution is its ease of use.""Pure FlashArray X NVMe has low latency and high Ops. It is an evergreen model.""The high availability of the product is the most valuable feature."

"The ransomware protection feature is housed in a separate unit, specifically addressing the top twenty most critical threats.""The product's initial setup phase was good.""The snapshot feature has been precious for our testing processes, application development, and managing testing environments due to its efficiency and ease of use."

"The valuable features for data management include deduplication and compression without performance impact, and the ability to virtualize old storage, making migration seamless.""We have many different types of replication, such as remote and drop local replication. All these features and licenses are already available. These are basic features available in the current model. Additionally, the performance has been good in our experience.""The solution is very user-friendly in terms of maintenance and configuration. It's also possible to connect the solution to other storage management solutions.""The feature I like best is the stability of the hardware.""The service provided by Hitachi is good, and I get the IT support I need from the vendors.""The product offers high stability.""This is one of the most reliable and dependable products on the market.""Its resilience is the most valuable."

Cons
"You cannot tag a LUN with a description, and that should be improved. What I like on the Unity side is that when I expand LUNs or do things, there is an information field on the LUN. This is the Information field that you can tag on your LUNs to let yourself know, "Hey, I've added this much space on this date". Pure lacks that ability. So, you don't have a mechanism that's friendly for tracking your data expansions on the LUN and for adding any additional information. That's a downside for me.""The tool's portfolio is minimal. It is expensive.""Efficiency improvements would always be welcome, but I'm not sure if they could get more efficient.""There is room for improvement in catering to midrange storage needs, especially for customers seeking Enterprise-class features.""The UI for this solution needs to be improved.""We have run into a couple of instances recently where we are running out of space. So we have had to buy some more packs for it and they have deployed fine and it has increased smoothly.""In terms of what needs improvement, the dashboard and management could be simplified.""I would like to see replication and DR features in the next release of this solution."

More Pure FlashArray X NVMe Cons →

"The configuration part of the product is an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required.""Improvements are needed in both partition recovery and scalability.""We encountered some challenges during large data migrations that could be addressed for smoother transitions."

More Dell VMAX All Flash Cons →

"For mission critical issues the performance is low.""The interface should be simplified and made easier to use.""Hitachi should launch some small machines in Brazil. The smallest machine here in Brazil is VSP 350, which can be quite big for some of the customers. In China, Hitachi has small models of this equipment, but those models are not available in our region. Its pricing is a big issue for us. We are resellers, and we face some competition from other vendors. Hitachi doesn't always have a good position in terms of the price. Its user interface is also not as good as some of the other competitors, and it can be improved.""It seemed like every time we turned around it was a statement of work and we'd have to pay for something that our previous vendors would not have billed us for.""Its usability can be improved. It can have more management features. Its management tools lack features.""One problem is that there are too many management tools for the F Series and for all the other Hitachi storage systems. There are four or five such solutions. Maybe these could be combined in the future.""Hitachi Vantara has invested heavily in improving their management interface, however, they still have a way to go to catch up with many of their competitors.""The Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform faces challenges when it comes to features like deduplication and compression. Enabling these features can lead to processor overload, resulting in performance degradation, especially under high loads."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "With Pure Storage, we would like to continue seeing price reductions with flash storage. I don't think we're any different than anybody else when we continue to look to the industry for price reductions of both NVMe and traditional SSD storage. We would like to see these prices continue to decline and erode, even displacing large spinning disks."
  • "We pay approximately $50,000 USD per year in licensing fees."
  • "With VMware, we pay $300,000 annually."
  • "Our licensing fees are $500,000+ USD."
  • "As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
  • "They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
  • "Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
  • "The licensing is on a yearly basis."

  • "The price falls within the mid-range, neither inexpensive nor high-priced."
  • "It is not a cheap product."
  • More Dell VMAX All Flash Pricing and Cost Advice →

  • "The pricing we get is very competitive when compared to other vendors. Hitachi is working on their licensing model and it is improving but can be irksome when many different items are not bundled or enterprise size."
  • "Our main issue with the Hitachi G-Series is what we consider to be an archaic software licensing scheme and high maintenance costs."
  • "It is a little expensive."
  • "I would like to see better pricing and more discounts."
  • "Pricing could be better, because the cost is very high."
  • "This solution is cheaper than Dell EMC VMAX. When you are looking for a high-end solution, price matters, but availability and stability are more important than the price."
  • "This is an expensive solution."
  • "When you are looking for high-end solutions such as this, price is less important than stability and availability."
