We performed a comparison between ESET Endpoint Protection Platform and ThreatLocker Protect based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."This is stable and scalable."
"The console is easy to read. I also like the scanning part and the ability to move assets from one to the other."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's scalability is quite good, and you can add licenses to the solution."
"NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."
"Exceptions are easy to create and the interface is easy to follow with a nice appearance."
"It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"We have FortiEDR installed on all our systems. This protects them from any threats."
"The stability is great."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the management."
"The most valuable feature of ESET Endpoint Security is the antivirus for the endpoints."
"This is a product at the top of its game. That is the reason we choose to support and sell it."
"The solution is very lightweight and does not consume that much processor in terms of CPU utilization. The centralized management system is very good."
"The tools and the features available with this solution are very competitive. It is always updated to prevent upcoming attacks."
"The overall security capability of the product is pretty reliable."
"The potential threat protection feature is the most valuable. In the event that one of my computers is not on the network and gets a virus, ESET Endpoint Security quickly detects the malware, and in most cases, it removes the virus. It also has the ability to remotely shut down the computer. I like the remote control part the most."
"Every single feature has been invaluable."
"Feature-wise, the learning mode and the fact that it's blocking everything are the most valuable. I don't see why more companies don't use the type of product."
"Application control, ring-fencing, and storage control are the most important features, followed closely by elevation."
"The interface is clean and well-organized, making it simple to navigate and find what we need."
"The biggest improvement has been knowing that something unauthorized isn't going to get installed on anyone’s machines."
"The sandbox functionality is fantastic."
"Using ThreatLocker is effortless because I can access it from an app on my phone, so I can help clients after hours. My client had an issue while I was at dinner, and I didn't have a tech on the problem, but I could deal with it from my phone. I can see what the client is doing and approve or deny it. It helps me deliver better service to my clients when they need it."
"While it can be frustrating at times, we appreciate the low-level security provided by the application whitelist."
"The SIEM could be improved."
"The support needs improvement."
"We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels."
"Detections could be improved."
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"We've encountered challenges during API deployment, occasionally resulting in unstable environments."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"The only minor concern is occasional interference with desired programs."
"It would be useful if they could automate the deployment more."
"I would like for ESET to create a central management solution. This would make it practical to use the internet for medium-sized networks."
"There are no areas for improvement. It does everything the consumer needs."
"There are some complexities if you want to manipulate the software."
"While we see dangers within our security system, it would help if there were popups that could immediately alert us or the user of the endpoint that something was detected."
"We'd like the solution to be a next generation antivirus with some sort of artificial intelligence or machine learning angle."
"They could be more aggressive with malware."
"We have experienced some problems with the actualization of some endpoints. We then have to manually reinstall the version on these endpoints."
"One area I see for improvement is in the visibility of support tickets within the ThreatLocker ticketing system."
"The snapshots used in the ThreatLocker University portal are outdated snippets and have not been updated in conjunction with the portal itself."
"ThreatLocker could offer more flexible training, like online or offline classes after hours. The fact that they even provide weekly training makes it seem silly to suggest, but some people can't do it during the day, so they want to train after work. They could also start a podcast about issues they see frequently and what requires attention. A podcast would be helpful to keep us all apprised about what's going on and/or offline training for those people who can't train during the week."
"There are some times when applications get submitted, the hashes don't really line up."
"The portal can be a little overwhelming at times from an administration point of view. It displays a lot of information, and it's all useful. However, sometimes there is too much on the screen to sift through, especially if you're trying to diagnose a client's problem with a piece of software. Maybe something has stopped working since they updated it, and we need to see if ThreatLocker is blocking a component of that software."
"Adding applications to the allowlist can sometimes feel overwhelming."
"ThreatLocker Allowlisting needs to improve its user interface and overall workflow."
"If you have a thousand computers with ThreatLocker agents on them, when you approve or create a new policy saying that Adobe Reader that matches this hashtag and meets certain criteria is allowed to be installed, it applies at the top level or the organization level. It applies to every computer in the company. When you make that new policy and push it out and it goes out and updates all of the clients. Unfortunately, at this time, it does not look like they stagger the push-out."
