We performed a comparison between Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business and Sophos Intercept X based on our users’ reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Sophos Intercept X has a slight edge over Kaspersky Endpoint Security in this comparison, since it is a more lightweight solution.
"The features that I have found most valuable are the ability to customize it and to reduce its size. It lets you run in a very small window in terms of memory and resources on legacy cash registers."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"It notifies us if there's any suspicious file on any PC. If any execution or similar kind of thing is happening, it just alerts us. It doesn't only alert. It also blocks the execution until we allow it. We check whether the execution is legitimate or not, and then approve it or keep it blocked. This gives us a little bit of control over this mechanism. Fortinet FortiEDR is also very straightforward and easy to maintain."
"Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture."
"It is a scalable solution...The initial setup of Fortinet FortiEDR was straightforward."
"NGAV and EDR features are outstanding."
"I consider the heuristics to be most valuable, the fact that the solution does not work solely on signatures."
"Scalability is good."
"Sophos Intercept X has a host of valuable features, including its anti-malware feature, which we considered key."
"Sophos Intercept X is a complete endpoint solution."
"There are products that are technically stronger. However, this product has everything in one solution, which makes it a strong endpoint option."
"The updates and a lot of the day-to-day fiddling that you would have to do with it, can all be done from the cloud so it's easy to manage, and very easy to administer."
"It is very easy to set up and easy to use. It is also not resource-intensive."
"The most valuable feature of Intercept X its ability to stay ahead of the infection. By the time the ransomware spreads to the next machine in line, the data has already been encrypted on that workstation. It didn't matter what the ransomware did because could go in and get it back."
"I like that Kaspersky isn't heavy."
"We use the solution for endpoint protection, virus detection, and centralized administration."
"Antivirus, including anti-spam, trojan, and worm detection and prevention. Kaspersky has a comprehensive virus definition update which is very helpful for threat prevention."
"The most valuable features in Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Business are protection and encryption. Additionally, the interface is good and it can be integrated with Windows, Linux, and Mac."
"The interface is really good. It's nice and simple."
"It's excellent at detecting viruses."
"The product's initial setup phase was easy."
"They have a very good reporting system and they have a very good dashboard for the administrator, which makes monitoring everything easy."
"Everything with Fortinet having to do with their cloud services. They need to invest more in their internal infrastructure that they are running in the cloud. One of the things I find with their cloud environment compared to others' is that they go cheap on the equipment. So it causes some performance degradation."
"Detections could be improved."
"The SIEM could be improved."
"ZTNA can improve latency."
"FortiEDR can be improved by providing more detailed reporting."
"Cannot be used on mobile devices with a secure connection."
"The support needs improvement."
"The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices."
"We are considering switching from this solution as a result of the closer integration needed between the firewall systems and the EDR."
"The performance is very slow and should be faster."
"There is room for improvement in terms of stability and updates."
"It would be better if it can automatically generate a report for each and every user so that the users get to know the things that shouldn't be accessed from their PCs. It can have information about malicious and non-malicious sites so users are aware of them, and they don't access malicious websites. Such reports can be generated at the end of the day. We should also be able to get through to their support team quickly. Currently, it takes more than half an hour to get through to a technical person."
"The detection and the AI capabilities should be improved upon."
"I am not very satisfied with the product's reporting overall, and it needs improvement in this area."
"The Data Loss Prevention module can be better. It should also have threat hunting capabilities."
"The majority of our systems are MacBooks and their solution release cycle is slow to endorsing or support the MacBook's latest OS or hardware platform. For example, when Sophos macOS Big Sur version 11 was released, it took them a while to support this version of OS. A similar situation occurred when the MacBook M1 hardware CPU was released. They have not fully supported the native M1 CPU to this day. They need to speed up the solutions release cycle."
"It would be better if it were more secure and stable. I would also like to see more powerful features in the next release."
"They're restricted to endpoint protection for now, I'd like to see some additional products."
"Kaspersky could be improved by better malware protection. They have to take advantage of Malwarebytes and integrate the same engine inside Kaspersky. I use Malwarebytes as well because Kaspersky doesn't always detect malware."
"I would like to see machine learning and AI as added features."
"There have been some performance issues. They provide good security, but this slows down the performance of machines' servers. The software is not updating as frequently as we need."
"The cloud needs to be more robust. We have 1,500 users and Kaspersky has issues handling them. It's a problem."
"We are having some troubles because some American companies we work with don't want to work with Kaspersky."
"The need to re-engineer the source code to reduce CPU and memory usage. Other areas for improvement include a data-loss prevention solution, enhanced application control, enhanced device control, an endpoint encryption solution, an advanced persistent threats (APT) solution, and an all-in-one solution with one pricing scheme for corporate and enterprise business needs."
