We performed a comparison between Quorum OnQ and Veeam Backup & Replication based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Backup and Recovery solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."One of the most valuable features was the usability, since many of the features were very straightforward. The backup and restoration process was also very fast. Although we weren't able to fully test the scenarios, one of the features was that we could have it restored on a remote site. However, since we were on-prem, we weren't able to test the remote site restoration."
"Quorum OnQ has taken the guesswork out of backup/recovery and disaster recovery."
"Quorum OnQ has a good ransomware protection feature, and customer service and support were very good."
"A very high level security environment for secondary data."
"The most valuable feature is spinning up a ready-to-go VM in a test or production environment that is based on a backup stored on the Quorum device."
"The biggest feature is being able to do a file recovery to the original server. That is extremely useful and has saved us a few times when we've had ransomware. In some of those cases, people's computers were locked down by viruses which spread to things they had access to, including server shares. But we were easily able to just restore to four hours prior, instead of a day or two or more ago."
"It does automated tests to the systems to make sure that you could spin them up if you needed to. And if something doesn't come back up in those tests, we get a notification saying the system didn't come back up."
"The solution offers good documentation."
"The initial setup is pretty straightforward."
"Replication and restore object in Exchange boxes with possibility to select part of Microsoft directory."
"I like how Veeam intuitively integrates with Zerto."
"The most valuable feature of Veeam Backup Replication is application awareness. Additionally, the solution is user-friendly and it has been working very well."
"The integration of Veeam Backup Replication is very good."
"I have found the most valuable feature to be the new CDP features. It is very popular for my customer's needs."
"It has helped us to protect our IP address and critical information."
"Veeam is highly scalable. In one scenario, we started with 2,000 users and scaled up to 24,000."
"I paid for subscription of Firewall. I paid for subscription of endpoint protection. Thet should introduce single subscription for all services."
"I would like to see iSCSI support added so that NAS storage servers could be protected. We heavily utilize NAS storage and the risk there is minimal backup options. Currently, we are backing up NAS to NAS which is costly and slow. Being able to integrate NAS server backup would be the last item on my Quorum bucket list."
"Quorum OnQ can be improved by providing support for other operating systems like Ubuntu."
"There seems to be a lack of technicians. Sometimes they are very busy and I don't hear back for a day or two. The technicians they have are great. They are fantastic, but it seems difficult, at times, to get in contact with anyone."
"The price is high and could be more competitive."
"Better integration with cloud-based solutions like Azure and Office 365 is needed."
"The cost could be reduced."
"Lacks compatibility in terms of supporting other OS."
"The documentation and communication could be better in Veeam Backup Replication."
"Veeam Backup is not enhanced. There aren't any enhancements yet and they are still using traditional methods for snapshots and to perform the backup, like many other vendors. Another improvement would be simplifying and integrating their software."
"There is some complexity we have experienced when using the solution that should be simplified."
"There should be better use of the external hard drives."
"The initial setup is complex."
"Physical backup is always where room for improvement could be but Veeam has always stated they are not going in that direction."
"We would like to see support for some additional storage systems."
"Veeam Backup Replication has agents for Linux, but they are not supporting Cluster Shared Volumes. It would be great to have agents for Linux be cluster-aware, just like the Windows agents. That's the main pain point. In addition, we should be able to handle the automation of Oracle backups from the backup server. We should be able to schedule, control, and deploy them from the backup server rather than relying on scripts and/or the system you are backing up to perform the backup. Currently, we install the plug-in inside Oracle VMs and then use crontabs to handle the task schedule on each machine for scheduling the backups. Veeam Backup Replication should also support the automation of Nutanix backups from the backup server, not from the proxy. The other not so major thing is that they don't support legacy systems because Veeam is a new company. It is not as old as other companies. They don't support physical workloads that are really old, which a major challenge, but they do have a point. Legacy systems should be virtualized, and if they're virtualized, then the backup is not an issue with Veeam, but some customers like the physical setup, and they don't want to have it virtual."
