We performed a comparison between SonicWall NSa and Zscaler Internet Access based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Firewalls solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."I only deal with it from a security analyst's point of view. I don't really get into the features of the actual FortiGate. From the security point of view, it works, and it does its job."
"This solution made it very easy to manage our bandwidth."
"The Fortinet FortiGate local partners were good. I did not have direct contact with Fortinet support."
"It performs very well."
"The most valuable features are that it is very simple to configure and to manage."
"The most valuable feature of FortiGate is FortiView which provides proactive monitoring."
"The solution is very, very easy to use."
"It is quite easy to handle."
"The product blocks access when I visit unrecognized websites."
"The filtering is excellent."
"I really like the performance; there are no delays and no latency, which is a unique quality in firewalls nowadays."
"The technical support is very good."
"Deep packet inspection and intelligent application control are the most valuable features. It is a very updated solution. It is very current as compared to other brands and vendors."
"The product is working okay. The product is working feature-wise."
"The most valuable feature is the sandbox."
"It has excellent stability."
"The most valuable features I found in Zscaler Internet Access are the restriction of users for a particular URL, the security feature related to stopping DDoS, and the VPN."
"The solution is stable and reliable."
"I like the granularity of the control of all the traffic, including SSL inspection. I also like the fact that the user interface is intuitive. The latencies with Zscaler are minimal compared to those of any other competitor. Other competitors do not really have the global scale that Zscaler has and cannot promise low latencies."
"The solution replaces multiple vendor technologies with one which makes it worth the cost."
"Overall, we're very happy with our product."
"One feature that is valuable to me from an implementation point of view is that it's very easy to implement."
"The users are at different locations, and Zscaler helps us to put the organization's central security controls on these roaming users."
"The initial setup was straightforward. The biggest thing for us was to build our own policies. The deployment itself was only a few hours."
"We would like to see an upgrade to the VPN feature, we are using the VPN from outside of our office and there is a limitation to 10 connections, more connections would be suitable."
"I would like to see improvements in the support from Fortinet. Here in the Philippines, whenever we have problems with a Fortinet product, we mostly ask for support from distributors and resellers and not directly from Fortinet."
"The setup is pretty complex and not easy to implement."
"I would like to see improvements with the antivirus and IPS as they are not working properly all the time."
"Improvement is needed in the Web Filter quotas to restrict users with allocated quotas."
"Its reporting capabilities can be improved. It should have some out-of-the-box reporting capabilities and some degree of customization. The basic reporting that it currently has is not sufficient to create more usable reports. It needs some sort of out-of-the-box reporting. They try to make customers purchase FortiAnalyzer for this kind of reporting, which is an additional cost. Other firewall vendors, such as SonicWall and Sophos, provide this sort of reporting without any additional cost."
"The sniffing packets or packet captures, can be simplified and improved because it's a little confusing."
"NGN, reporting and controls."
"The dashboard must be improved."
"The thing main thing is that there's no user admin and in other firewalls, we can enable the scalable features, but SonicWall doesn't have that feature."
"There are a few areas that need improvement including the VPN, user management, and reporting."
"A room for improvement in SonicWall NSa is the log server because it could be more user-friendly compared to Fortinet and Palo Alto Networks. My company has many rule sets up for review, so sometimes, my team needs to use Excel for filtering, but the UI cannot support the Excel function."
"The product likely isn't a good fit for a large organization."
"I would like to have a built-in vulnerability scanner in the firewall. It would be great to have such functionality. Its price could also be better. It would also be good to have a local warehouse. It doesn't get damaged a lot, but if a customer needs a replacement, currently, it has to come from Miami or Mexico, which can take a few days. It would be better if they have a local warehouse from where we can just pick replacements and quickly solve a client's needs in terms of replacing equipment. It would be great to have it locally instead of waiting for it from Mexico or the USA."
"We also use the Sophos Firewall for web configuration, which we don't have in SonicWall. Only Sophos has those options. If SonicWall included that feature, that would be a benefit for us."
"We have used other solutions such as pfSense and Linux native firewalls. I prefer SonicWall NSa but if you are going to use something for an enterprise you need another solution."
"We'd like for them to include some sort of antivirus tool."
"Currently, the solution's interface is not that user-friendly."
"The main issue with Zscaler Internet Access is proxy IP detection, which sometimes makes sites inaccessible."
"There are a few features that are not compatible with the Azure cloud."
"An improvement would be if they could provide an out-of-the-box experience, like 20 to 30 features all ready to go. In comparison, LogRhythm offers out-of-the-box features. With Zscaler Internet Access, there is firewall IPS, multiple security services, filtering, DLP, and CASB browser isolation. These are things that all users are going to be using. However, when an administrator or architect would start building this, I would definitely need to engage professional services to help clients do it."
"In terms of user experience, it could be better."
"In terms of usage, here in the GCC, it's still growing a growing market, so the combination of DLP, data leak prevention, to a certain extent is fine. But what it requires is user-based access or role-based access. The solution needs to grow into that, which definitely takes time. There's not an easy way to integrate it, when you have a cloud-based solution."
"They block Zscaler IPs when the traffic origin is from Zscaler IPs. They've been blocked by certain government organizations so the end users are not able to visit those websites unless we ask them to unblock those IP. This is a bit problematic."
