We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"The most valuable thing that we have seen within our group is the ability to ingest all this raw data and have it organized in a certain way so that different groups can get effective alerting from this massive amount of raw data that is out there.""I find the monitoring console very helpful. With one click, I can see how we are performing, and at the same time, I can see what data is flowing.""The solution's basic visibility is one of its most valuable features. So, it is a solution that is easy to use...The solution's initial setup process was straightforward.""The product retains a lot of log data for subsequent analysis.""The most valuable feature in this solution is the log searching.""It's a very easy-to-use solution.""The tool is efficient in collecting, monitoring and evaluating logs.""The data collection from our VMs, containers, databases, and backend components is valuable."

"The integration capabilities and APIs are the best part.""In terms of customization and integration, we have more flexibility. We can automate configurations, define deletion rules, and customize based on the needs. The client interface allows for further configuration, making it quite comprehensive.""The most valuable features in Zabbix are those that help us overcome bottlenecks in CPU usage, as well as reduce memory delay. I know that we have only reached the tip of the iceberg of what Zabbix's features can do for us, and we have not used all of them yet.""The flexible licensing model is one of the solution's most valuable aspects. It really allows for great flexibility for companies.""The most valuable feature is that it provides network segregation for server monitoring.""Simple network monitoring that is easy to install and manage.""There is less computing power needed for scaling.""It's a flexible solution."

Cons
"We still use Splunk Enterprise licensing. A lot of the newer features go into Splunk Cloud before Enterprise. We're not looking to switch our licensing over, so we're falling behind on the newer features.""The cost needs to be re-examined. It's extremely expensive to run. It's also expensive to expand. That's the number one complaint all of my customers have when it comes to Splunk. It's way too expensive compared to other solutions.""The deployment can be quite complex.""In the next release, I would like to see more integration with other solutions.""It would be useful if they provided some help pages. If you don't know too much about the tool, there should be more documentation readily available. It would be useful if they had a help button embedded in the solution so you could ask questions and get answers.""It's a bit difficult to use. It takes some time to get into it and to get it to do what you would like it to do. It is not straightforward to use it.""The solution's stability is an area that has room for improvement. It needs to provide constant stability to its users.""Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring's data analytics can be improved by including suggestions for various types of continuous monitoring."

More Splunk Infrastructure Monitoring Cons →

"In an upcoming release, there should be automated reports which we are currently doing manually. For example, if we collect a report file every day and want to send it to a moderator for review. We are expecting this feature to come out soon but it would be valuable to have now.""When we have a problem, we have to do a lot of research to solve it.""The documentation gets a bit messy between versions and is not too detailed, which is a bit painful for first-timers, especially when they run into issues.""I want Zabbix to improve the UX/UI. Zabbix doesn't use a JavaScript chart for images, and I want them to improve this.""We would like to see the addition of automatic push functionality to this product. This would save time when monitoring our servers and networks as, at present, we have to manually install the Zabbix agent on any hardware to be monitored.""The performance reporting could be improved.""It would be helpful if they translated the documentation to Cyrillic languages.""When using this solution in enterprise monitoring, you are able to see that there are some issues with equipment that could be causing a problem. Sometimes you want to make a root command that you do not want to be executed automatically. What we have tried to do is open an SSH session directly from the solution's interface but it is not possible."

I have researched a quite a few network monitoring tools which can be used for various monitoring purposes of not only the servers, but the intermediate routers as well. There are majorly three types of these softwares. Ones which are completely open-source, you can do almost anything you want using these, but they require quite some expertise before you can use them. Then there are the ones that are not open source, the enterprise softwares and cost you some money, but on the other hand, they are extremely easy to set-up and learn. You can have them up and running in a matter of minutes. And then there are those which are completely cloud based. They can be free of cost or charge some money depending on the software. The good thing about these is that you don’t have to install any extra software, and it can be managed completely online but then again these have limited features and you cannot exploit them to the full extent as you can do with the open-source and to some extent the enterprise software, so I won’t suggest you to use these, because these are generally not the complete solutions and require other support software to achieve the same. Below I have listed the outstanding pros and cons of the various Network analyzers that you can look into Nagios Pros: Nagios offers an extensive set of collector plug-ins that allows users to gather performance and availability data from a broad range of operating systems, including  Windows and Netware Nagios… Read more →
