We performed a comparison between Acronis Cyber Protect and Dell PowerProtect DD (Data Domain) based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out what your peers are saying about Veeam Software, Commvault, Zerto and others in Cloud Backup."The most valuable feature is that you can do a bare-metal restore even with dissimilar hardware."
"This is a perfect option for an SMB."
"The tool’s licensing and pricing are economical for SMB customers."
"It actually does its job very well and has interesting capabilities, but it has the most awful interface."
"It has simple buying options and deployments. You can buy on-cloud, on-premises, or hybrid solutions. Acronis Backup is very easy to deploy. It also does not consume much hardware. The administrator's tasks are very simple. It is very user friendly, and it also has good security features with low-level encryption and data encryption."
"The solution has all the features I need and user friendly."
"Since the last version, everything has been improved."
"The licensing model is very good."
"We have never had any issues with Data Domain. It has been stable."
"It is very fast as compared to the other competitors. Its simplicity and bit rate are also valuable. It takes less time if we compare it with the old solution that we have."
"The compression aspect of the solution is great."
"The stability is excellent."
"We have found the product to be scalable."
"The initial setup was straightforward. Deployment takes about two weeks."
"Deduplication and compression are the best features of the solution, which are popular and very effective."
"I like the different features. We work closely with Dell on different products and features, which is why we use them all."
"The licensing approach becomes intricate when dealing with SharePoint."
"Because Acronis Backup is an on-premises solution, there is extra overhead. It's harder to manage, and there's no real remote access. You have to physically log in to the machine to manage it. The reporting feature works fine, and you will be able to send out reports. However, that is where it stops. The deployment could be improved and could be through a network chain. If we need to deploy two machines that are not connected to the internet but connected to two different networks, it would be great to have a machine with dual mix that has access to the backup server and to those machines. It would be like a relay that you can install on the machine with a two-mix, and that machine can then connect to your backup server and to the other machines. You should be able to see the other machines on that network and be able to deploy to it and push jobs to it."
"We have sometimes issues with the child copies and other similar functions, but it's normal with any backup solution. We need to fix those issues first in order for us to be able to do the backup properly."
"The reporting can be improved."
"We have issues with the SQL databases which are a little shaky."
"I've had some issues with the understandability of the interface. I think if they had someone with expertise in user interfaces to look at this, they could clean up the user interface."
"It would be nice if it could support more types of storage: EMC, HPE, Veeam, etc."
"They can include something called a backup appliance. Although Acronis is a software-driven company, it would be good for customers to have some kind of backup appliance on top of a lightweight operating system. This will also reduce the cost. Currently, the customers have to buy the hardware in addition to the operating system, which increases the overhead in terms of procurement."
"We would like to see the price of this solution brought down to be comparable with similar products currently on the market."
"They should reduce the CPC cost to customers. The product is becoming very expensive."
"Dell PowerProtect DD (Data Domain) is expensive. Also, it has a sort of a big physical footprint that data domains have, and that's part of the problem."
"I would like to see integration with public cloud."
"The software from Dell that can be used to operate Data Domain needs to have enhancements made to the user interface. It is too complex."
"The only problem is that it's more expensive than any other vendors available in the market."
"The price of the product is high."
"Dell PowerProtect DD should come out with its own system so we do not have to use Data Domain. For example, something similar to what Symantec has done."
