Quotes From Members
We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use.
Here are some excerpts of what they said:
Pros
"Acunetix is the best service in the world. It is easy to manage. It gives a lot of information to the users to see and identify problems in their site or applications. It works very well.""One of the features that I feel is groundbreaking, that I would like to see expanded on, is the IAS feature: The Interactive Application Security Testing module that gets loaded onto an application on a server, for more in-depth, granular findings. I think that is really neat. I haven't seen a lot of competitors doing that.""We are able to create a report which shows the PCI DSS scoring and share it with the application teams. Then, they can correlate and see exactly what they need to fix, and why.""There is a lot of documentation on their website which makes setting it up and using it quite simple.""The scalability is good. The scalability is more than good because it can operate both as a standalone and it can be integrated as part of applications. So that really makes it a very, very versatile solution to have.""Acunetix has an awesome crawler. It gives a referral site map of near targets and also goes really deep to find all the inputs without issues. This was valuable because it helped me find some files or directories, like web admin panels without authentication, which were hidden.""For us, the most valuable aspect of the solution is the log-sequence feature.""The vulnerability scanning option for analyzing the security loopholes on the websites is the most valuable feature of this solution."

"The most valuable feature is that it analyzes data in real-time.""The most valuable feature is the ability to automatically feed it rules what it's coupled with the WebInspect dynamic application scanning technology.""The solution helped us to improve the code quality of our organization.""The product saves us cost and time.""The most valuable features of Fortify Application Defender are the code packages that are default.""Fortify Application Defender's most valuable features are machine learning algorithms, real-time remediation, and automatic vulnerability notifications.""Its ability to find security defects is valuable.""I find the configuration of rules in Fortify Application Defender useful. Its integration is also easy."

Cons
"While we do have it integrated with other solutions, it could still offer more integrations.""Acunetix needs to include agent analysis.""In terms of what needs improvement, the way the licensing model is currently is not very convenient for us because initially, when we bought it, the licensing model was very flexible, but now it restricts us.""The solution limits the number of scans. It would be much better if we could have unlimited scans.""We have had issues during upgrades where their scans worked on some apps better with previous versions. Then, we had to work with their tech support, who were great, to get it fixed for the next version.""When monitoring the traffic we always have issues with the bandwidth consumption and the throttling of traffic.""The jargon used makes it difficult for project managers to understand the issues, and the technical explanations used make it difficult for developers to understand issues. These things should be simplified much more. That would be very helpful for us when explaining to them what needs to be fixed. The report output needs to be simplified.""Acunetix needs to improve its cost."

More Acunetix Cons →

"The biggest complaint that I have heard concerns additional platform support because right now, it only supports applications that are written in .NET and Java.""The false positive rate should be lower.""Fortify Application Defender gives a lot of false positives.""Support for older compilers/IDEs is lacking.""The workbench is a little bit complex when you first start using it.""The solution could improve the time it takes to scan. When comparing it to SonarQube it does it in minutes while in Fortify Application Defender it can take hours.""The licensing can be a little complex.""Fortify Application Defender could improve by supporting more code languages, such as GRAAS and Groovy."

Pricing and Cost Advice
  • "When we looked at all other vendors and what they were asking for, to provide a third of what Acunetix was capable of doing, it was an easy decision... But now that it's coming to a cost where it's line with market value, it becomes more of a competition... Acunetix is raising the cost of licensing. It's 3.5 times what we were initially quoted."
  • "Acunetix was around the same price as all the other vendors we looked at, nothing special."
  • "The pricing and licensing are reasonable to a point. In order to run multiple scans at a time, we are going to have to purchase a 100 count license, which is an overkill. Though, compared to what we were paying for, the cost seems reasonable."
  • "All things considered, I think it has a good price/value ratio."
  • "The costs aren't very expensive. It costs around $3000 or $4000."
  • "I would say that Acunetix is expensive because there are products on the market with similar features that are equally or better-priced."
  • "The pricing is a little high, and moreover, it's kind of domain-based."
  • "When compared with other products, the pricing is a little bit high. But it gives value for the price. It serves the purpose and is worthwhile for the price we pay."

  • "The base licensing costs for the SaaS platform is about $900 USD per application, per year."
  • "The price of this solution could be less expensive."
  • "The licensing is very complex, it's project based and can range from $10,000 to $200,000+ depending on the project type and size."
  • "Fortify Application Defender is very expensive."
  • "The product’s price is much higher than other tools."
  • "I rate the solution's pricing a five out of ten. It comes as an annual cloud subscription. The tool's pricing is around 50 lakhs."
